1. It "only" has 6 strings though ;p
I would love this beast, it's exactlyy type of bass and would sit proudly in my collection, alas I think it will probably not be mine
2. The TFR is lower gain than the Pickle Pie B and the Fuzzrocious was very similar in gain structure to the Pickle Pie if memory serves me correctly, perhaps a little heavier even. On another note, I have been in touch with Tom of COG just today and he was explaining what he had done with the pedal to "better" the Russian Muff it is based on. He has added a mid switch that sets the normally scooped sound to flat which will really help in a band setting, seeing as he has just started his company he is pricing his pedals very reasonably indeed. TG Flatline is his BC name, perhaps worth a PM in any case.
3. Yet again the my Muff clone is better than yours discussion.... fun. I like the Muff fuzz circuit and must have owned at least 10 clones that have taken that original design and then tried to better it. Some were more successful adaptations than others. Wren&Cuff and Earthbound are two of the companies that I feel have successfully taken the Muff design to a next level, I have not owned the TFR but I have owned the Pickle Pie B, which is an adaptation of the Swollen Pickle = MUFF clone. I will take Danweb22's word for it that Tom of COG has created a design with the Tarkin that is at that level. Now for all the money I have spent on boutique clones and will in future I am sure, NO fuzz I have ever owned (also the non Muff designs and you can actually substitute fuzz for OD or Distortion, all have the same issues in minor or major ways) has ever fit perfectly into a band setting. However good the pedal is you always loose some definition and this impacts how well you cut through. There is a reason why the bigger acts use 2 or 3 amps to achieve their sound. We can talk merits of individual pedals over others, but at the end of the day there is no perfect solution. There are only decent solutions when using 1 amp, the Muff Deluxe is decent at a very low price, Wren&Cuff or Earthbound or Fuzzrocious or Tarkin or Tonebender will all be slightly better than the original but will not totally overcome the fundamental issues with dirt pedals. No blend or extra transistor or whatever will. Just buy whatever you believe is best (believing something is better is as important as the pedal actually being better), they are all Muff based designs and will all give you oodles of dirt whilst screwing with your sound
4. The new Muff is cheap and does address 2 important issues, i.e. blend option to keep fundamentals intact and the gate is great. Di and filters are pretty useless, but at half the price of a wren&cuff you can't knock it. I like the new deluxe muff, especially for price vs quality.
5. All PMs responded to!
6. This has had a few BC owners in it's short life, hope it finds a long term relationship soon as it is a thing of beauty. Bump on me in support on finding this artwork a new home.
7. Due to a change in pedal board setup I am looking to offload 3 great pedals. First up is the awesome Muff based Earthbound Beast, the more elaborate version of the Supercollider one of the highest scoring pedals reviewed on bassfuzz.com. A Muff adaptation that is musical and useable in a band setting and that also has additional filters to cause even more mayhem. If you like the Muff sound, this gives you all of that plus excellent mid control to cut through. Handwired with top notch parts. It is the big Orange pedal labelled BEAST GBP80 excl P&P, in good condition SOLD!!! Then the Rodenberg 728B, in essence two boutique pedals made in Germany. This is the older version. It consists of a very very good 808 overdrive (keeps fundemental intact,a firm promise) clone tailored for bass and a bass friendly clean boost. Absolutely top notch design and engineering and it just sounds awesome. It is the Silver double pedal. Costs a small fortune new. Looking for GBP150 excl P&P (not too much for 2 boutique pedals), in very good condition Then finally the Japanese made One Control Mosquite Blender. Very small footprint and it just does the whole clean/ fx blend thing really well. The little red one knobbed pedal. Good as new, GBP60, excl P&P SOLD SOLD SOLD!!! Then if anyone is interested: Radial Bigshot ABY gbp40, Radial Bigshot Loop, gbp 40, Mooer Polytune gbp35, Morley ABY gbp30, DHA Preamp/DI gbp60 (all excl shipping). Prefer to sell, but may be tempted to trade for octavers, compressors, dirt pedals, looper/switchers, chorus, bass synth pedals. 8.
I've just taken delivery of Harry's Lakland Skyline Decade- a superb bass from undoubtedly one of the BC community's most upstanding members... The bass arrived fast from the Netherlands, and in great condition too, thanks to super-quick international shipping, and the most thorough packaging of an instrument that I can ever recall seeing in all my years of buying gear! Add this to keen pricing, friendly and regular communication, and willingness to go the extra mile, and you can't lose! I highly, highly recommend this fellow... Thanks again Harry! Etienne
Thanks for the kind words Etienne, my pleasure!
9. Cheers mate, it gives me all gain/ dirt stages I need and the chorus/filter/ octaver just add to the tonal palette. Thanks for the PM too, will give it some thought, nice eye candy on the site
^ Great board dude, very tidy!
10. Not so tiny board....... I am almost completely happy. Just need to sell the Rodenberg OD/Boost and get a separate OD and Boost pedal due to the parallel loop and will probably sell the Awesome sounding Beast and blender pedal and buy a smaller and other Muff based Fuzz with blend, only to save space really. 11. Etienne just bought my Lakland. It was a pleasure to deal with him, flexible, good comms, swift payment really could not ask for more. Highly recommended.
12. Cheers, now sold pending pickup next week.
13. A few months back I sold my last 5 string in favour of only playing 4 string basses in various tunings, back to the roots shall we say. Although I enjoy the freedom a 4 string neck gives me, I have to admit that I really miss a fiver...... It is just so convenient I will keep my AVRI JB'62, but am looking to sell or trade (+ money from my end) for a five string JB of sorts this lovely passive 4 string Decade. Specs and sound clips: http://www.lakland.com/decade.htm The most notable thing to mention is how smooth this bass plays, the neck is lovely and thin and the balance is perfect for me. Sound wise think P bass meets Thunderbird meets EB3, the Chi Sonics give this bass a bice growl with vintage bite. Loves being payed with a pick, and can do back pickup finger funk with ease. It is the passive version. In good nick with only minor wear and tear. Looking to sell or trade as stated. Trade wise I would be looking at a 5 string Jazz Bass, passive or active with a good passive mode, I tend to prefer 35" necks but a solid B is more important than scale. Would be prepared to add max 1000 gbp on top. Excluding P&P, I live in The Netherlands but m in Manchester area almost every month. THAT WAS QUICK, SOLD PENDING!
14. HazBeen

sold

Absolute bargain!
15. Where u based mate?
16. How awesome is Gary Grainger though, perhaps my favourite Schofield bassplayer.
17. Pretty much my current wet dream, stacked knobs gota love them. Shame I have no money left after paying the tax man..... Bump on me.
18. Well, you can't knock either, very different basses though. The 94's to me are the ultimate jack of all trade basses, so have a bump on that one
19. Akai, start building them again please....... There clearly is a market.
20. Easy, the Ashdown Giant 1000. Far and away the worst gain section I have ever had to suffer.
21. That would give evenings of fun..... Mild GAS brewing
22. Love my b3k to bits, this is that plus more juicy goodness. Not a cheap pedal, but worth it. One of the permanent stomp boxes on my board. Bump for a great pedal.
23. Pics or it doesn't exist
24. I had the old mt series 112 and 210. Really articulate cabs, loved it at home but found that in a band setting I missed some low end thump. Much happier with my Aggie DB 212. The 212's probably would not have this issue, so if VdK is to your taste I would certainly advise to check the 212 cabs first.
