So the headless is now done….. 3.45 kg. Very nice weight. I am missing a knob…. But have one in the house so should be all done tomorrow. Appears I will not need to do too much to make it play nice, as the action is pretty decent already.
-
I did small surface area, thin coats when I saw how thick it was ….. from a distance it looks okay, but up close the finish is just fugly. Had better results using a 5£ can of car paint. Maybe I had a bad batch, I have enquired…
-
Maybe I am just difficult, I.hate everything about it…..

So I decided to try the Crimson Wipe on Water based lacquer……. Like trying to coat your instrument with honey! Utterly useless stuff. Now will need to let it cure (2 weeks max), before I coat again with something that actually does work…… anyway……never again Mr Crimson. Bubinga neck on oil coat 4, headless body coat 1 and classic body (well see above).
-
Yeah. Wasn’t planning on it, but the Walnut caught my eye for the exact same reason m.
-
Decided on a Walnut pickguard for the “classic” and made the battery box cavity for the headless..
-
Replacing the heavy ABM with a Nova too.
-
Thought I might as well dump some pics….. I know I have not been uploading regularly (such is). Made a pickguard template for the PJ, actually also doing a new body and pickguard for my Bogart (basically losing 1200 grams in weight).
-
Wow, just got onto this…. specialty kit with a feature set (and price I expect) that is overkill for most, but there are going to be decent numbers of folks (pro and amateur) that will see midi control on the fly never seen before. Glorious!
-
Thank you, it is light too, body as is = only 1.6 ….. so probably closer to 1.4kg with routing, arm and body contouring done. Absolutely will end up a very easy sub 4kg instrument, 3.7 hopefully. The Mahogany had “a lot” of mass removed.
-
The Ambrosia has a few worm holes that I will either cover with a pickguard or fill.
-
Not very disciplined uploading, here is where we are at currently. Although I scalloped the headstock yesterday.
-
Some pics, basic/rough neck and body shape, fretboard slotted, trussrod and graphite rod slots done.
-
With the Baritone complete, now moving on with this…. Slight change in plan, am going headed, with chrome hardware… just feels like I need this to be more “classic”. I already have the rough body shape, rough neck and routing for trussrod/rods done. Will snap pics and post.
-
Cr@p, I forgot I was posting progress…. Ah well, please see completed build.

Also did some contouring.

Playing around with the laser yesterday… 1 pass gives you about .5mm dept. Also (because I could) tried cutting out an inlay in maple ….this was just for fun. I will either leave au naturel OR fill with epoxy/ebony dust. Also did a little print on back of neck.

I bought a laser engraver, goal is to laser engrave the headstock…. Why not
-
Building a Baritone, commissioned by a friend. Brief: 28” scale, but keep overall length same as a normal scale guitar, inspired by the Jazzmaster design. Just dropping some pics, as I haven’t been on the forum much. Alder Body 28” Maple neck Wenge fretboard Decent but budget black hardware Double humbuckers

So this build does not appear to be happening …… I found a hairline fracture running from around the 12th fret to the nut. Increasingly likely this is going to end up being recycled. Shame….. On the upside I am building a Baritone guitar, PJ and have bought a laser engraver.

Hi, I have to admit I have hardly been on BC for ages. It doesn’t give me the joy it once did. But importantly Iam still building,… Move to new workshop complete, the bass, well that is still as it was …. am doing a fretless 5 currently, after that is done I will revisit the Streamer.
