So quick one taker with Tone closed (the first) and then half open (2nd bit). Sounds very P to me.....mini P Bass into Scarlett Solo into Ableton Live, just a virtual amp/cab and no further processing Mini P.mp3
-
FFS ..... okaaaaaaaaaazy. Hold on to your horses π Will sort something soon.
-
Pretty much none. The very small head, light tuners, big upper horn (relatively) and heavy-ish bridge work thankfully,

At 46 I canβt say I am a spring chicken anymore (nor over the hill), but I still actively look for new music/bands/musicians to get into. So I was rather amazed to find that my band mates, all a few years my jr, all said they did not do the same and that they in essence felt that hardly any music that was worth their while is being made today. It certainly takes more effort to wade through the muck, but there is still good stuff being made by young guns. Makes me wonder what my BC community thinks. Are you still open to βnewβ?

I find myself listening to Spiritbox quite a lot, like now.
-
So I take it nobody likes them? π

I bought one too, cheap as chips so worth the punt. Indeed very transparent which I like a lot. My channel A and B are identical i(to my ears), solid EQ points in my opinion. Also not unhappy with the compressor, very clean, if I happen to forget my Keeley it would do.

For the record, it weighs 2.9kg. Pretty happy with that.

Nut needs some extra work as E and A are too high, amazingly it is already quite playable. An hour so to fettle/tweak and what have you and we should be golden. Basschat meet Big Red π

Result! Now to make a nut and finish this bad boy...

I recently bought a Warwick LWA1000. Having that plus 2 Bass Block 800s and Mesa D800 is a bit overkill re D class amps, so I am selling one of my Bass Blocks. Price includes shipping within Europe. The kettle lead has an EU plug, so I will include a UK plug converter too. Also comes with the bag of course. This was my βbackupβ Bass Block so hasnβt seen to much action and is pretty much unmarked. Can add a hard case for 20Β£ if you are so inclined (see last picture).

All my builds I want to be under 4 kg, the swamp ash I have is really light so 3.6/3.8kg I expect to end up at. Oil finish for sure.

So up next will be a modern 5 string. - 35β scale - 24 frets (may opt for 21) - 2 active EMG MM pups - passive EQ VVT (may put in a preamp) - Black hardware - 18mm string spacing (single string bridge) at bridge - brass nut (10mm spacing) 50mm wide - swamp ash body with a tbd top (walnut likely) - maple neck, bolt-on - wenge fretboard (most likely) - I quite like scalloped headstocks, so will probably go with that Will be doing a full-size drawing in the next weeks..... old school style
-
Btw, bridge installed....

Cover, take 2 . 2 more coats and we are golden.
-
Not giving up just yet
-
It clearly wanted to go, literally exploded when I went from 6 to 10mm. The new one is already drying Tung coat 2.
-
After 4 coats of Tung, I had left it for a day extra to cure and am now slowly but surely putting it together. Also had the control cavity cover split on me along the grain whilst drilling holes for the pots. Ah well, I will have to redo it (and redo 4 coats of Tung) and it will be fine. Some selected pics for you to look at whilst I have a little cry in the corner

First time making a bass, Singlecut NT 5 string

+1 and indeed, so much quicker than a radius block. @spacecowboy, is there a built in stop to prevent rolling off the side? I made a similar radius jig a few years ago that I made quite wide to prevent mistakes from the router sled rolling off the side. Your is much more compact so keen to learn how you tackled it. -
Finished! A Guitar Bouzouki - (no basses were harmed in the...)

Very cool indeed! -
No, I am using pure Tung. It takes a while to cure (like a month .....), but to me it gives the best finish. Tung bought from my local specialist paint shop, not a big brand.

https://tlcguitargoods.com/en/sustain-dragon-s-blood-no-47-concentrate.html Just diluted it, very similar to the Crimson stuff available in UK. TLC is quickly becoming my go to resource for everything but wood.

1st coat of Tung Oil ..... check! Only 4/5 more to go π€ͺ

Glad you are enjoying it

If you can get on with a 4, you can get on with a 5. It just takes practice in my opinion. Ask yourself, are you perfectly comfortable on a 4, i.e. you can play what you want/need relatively effortlessly? If so practice will ensure you become as comfortable on a 5. But you need to stick with it. 2 pennies...
