I am unsure why you would want to achieve a really low action, it does not improve your tone in any way. Don’t take my word for it, but Patitucci, Gwizdala and a host of others have all realised that really low action does not equate to better tone. I totally did not buy into that initially and was all about low action, but after trying it I was amazed at how much more punch and tone you get when you raise that action. Currently I am at 3mm at 12th fret, which is a happy medium between playability and tone.

This is so very true, Bryan is a super approachable guy who is all about the music, and at the top of his game, not the money where Nikki Sixx and Gene Simmons could (and can) barely play their instruments to the point of needing other people to record their albums for them (Phil Chen for instance) or a lot of producer help to even come up with a bassline. I respect Gene Simmons for his entrepreneurship, not his musicality. Nikki Sixx I respect for overcoming addiction, not his musicality.

Actually this bass is a self built one (built with his Dad, like B. May), later rebuilt and upgraded by Vox Humana a Dutch builder. They also build his current Warhorse signature model, which is beautiful in it’s utter ugliness. A very friendly and approachable guy btw.

Have to agree, my MC6 controls so much on my board it is ridiculous(ly important).

To me the fretboard is an integral part of the overal "sound" of the bass. My Elrick has a Maple (birdseye) board, and it is right for the bass as it gives a little extra bite. My G&L SB-2 has a Rosewood board which is perfect for it, perfectly balanced old school PJ sound. But to be frank my fingers/technique have a bigger impact on my tone than anything else. I have a a "bright touch", whatever board I have on the bass.

I use a Rob, it is a little large at 6’7” but it does not need batteries or an adapter, just bananas....... lol....... We also have the 808 clone by Behringer. It works.

I know nothing about the difference in quality, what I will say is that my M80 single and double bags have been serving me for YEARS. I felt they were really expensive when I bought them, now I consider them a sensible investment that will be with me for years and years. Maybe that is the case here as well? Dunno.

Oh no, Mike was the nicest guy. He helped me with a custom wiring request for my M5V back in the day. Charged me postage only, for what must have taken him an hour or 90 mins at least. RIP

What a blast! We did a Faithless Tribute 2 days in a row, both venues totally sold out. It was really nice to get such positive feedback, a really good indicator there is a market for the live band/dance music approach.
