Cannot be moved, what post do you want removed? The “dang” comment?

Very interesting!

But why do you store your basses in’t garden? Surely they get wet there ..... 😂 Proper job which will give you a lifetime of pleasure no doubt.

As some of you know I have been having back problems, and to ensure I keep the back “working as required” one of the things I needed to do is shed weight ..... i.e. go for lighter instruments. After trading one of my Rays for an old Streamer (@3.7kg), I traded my Yamaha BBP35 (great bass btw, just too heavy for me to keep) plus a decent amount of dosh for an Elrick Gold 5 string. Wow is all I can say, well under 4 kg but really resonant and a neck that is really comfortable. Alfredo @siso0450 the seller has been such a pleasure to deal with as well, making the entire event a really positive experience. I truly hope he loves the Yammy as much as I do the Elrick. Anyway, a few way too dark pics (one includes the Wick too) ..... but I am off to play this bad boy!

Yes, I’d agree. Snce the Strategy has a jack output, I would daisy chain the two cabs with speakon, and then run a speakon to jack into the strategy (so only one jack into the 4ohm jack output)
-
In series you stack resistance, but daisy chaining is the correct way as cabs are wired in parallel. You get 4ohms, and the 4ohm output is the correct one to use, however do keep in mind that 2/3 of power goes to the 6ohm and 1/3 to the 12ohm cab. This is not ideal. Oh, and you plug both into the 4ohm outputs.
-
I use QSCs, K12.2s as mentioned above. But I also still go pedalboard/amp/cab very often still. When I feel like lugging stuff.

Pointing out that this pointy thread is pointless would be pointless and missing the point.

Plus 1, great PJ set

The OP has indicated he already OWNS a Wick Double Buck. Is the Vigier an upgrade to a $$? Absolutely. But like all graphite necked instruments the Vigier’s tone is very modern which may or may not suit you. Beware of delamination on the Vigier, a very common thing with older Vigiers. Generally it does not cause structural issues, but may require some attention.

So, what music related gifts did we all get today?
HazBeen replied to dave_bass5's topic in General Discussion
I got sweaters and Tshirts...... oh and I agreed to a trade on BC plus payment of way more than I should.... but a very fine bass will be on it’s way to me soon. My own present of sorts. -
Scott’s “real”, which is more than you could say about many. He has grown on me. To me the Kingbass sounded most awful.... oh, that wasn’t the idea

Exciting New Years Eve Gigs, What's Happening With Everyone?
HazBeen replied to Bluewine's topic in General Discussion
NYE is the only day I reserve solely to spend time with my wife/kids, so never gig UNLESS the money is ridiculously excellent (which it rarely is). -
Gorgeous, merry Xmas indeed

I have my eye on something special so need to raise some funds. Up for grabs is my USA (1995). G&L SB2, in Black/RW. Basically a PJ on steroids, a bass I never thought I would sell.... but needs must. 34” scale Rosewood fretboard Jazz type neck (nice and slim/narrow) Detuner on the E (and original tuner included) Built in 1995 I believe In remarkable condition for it’s age Around de 4.3kg mark Only small marks, given it’s YOB in remarkable condition It has a VVT mod but also comes with original wiring loom Shipping in Europe with neck detached included. Pics are horrible, apologies. Happy to send new ones in daylight... if you are in to PJ, this is a must have. No trades please, need to raise cash. Harry

Exactly why I should never let myself be sucked into discussions like this. I don’t think you are really asking a question so will leave it at that I said the opposite to what you are suggesting.

It helps for sure, but is not the full equation

I think you are mixing up 2 things, frequency and EQ. The first is physics, the second a black art some might say. What I find is that sometimes cutting or boosting the area before or after a certain frequency has more impact than adjusting the actual frequency. For example, the jazz bass sound requires a boost in the 1100-1200Hz range to really make it pop .... again in my experience and opinion. There are many ways to achieve a good sound and pickup placement and scale (how flabby the string is) as well as EQ all work hand in hand. Dependent on what you have at your disposal some or all can help you achieve it. The EQ part is most challenging as it is bass, amp, fingers, room dependent.

This. On all 34” scale basses with a P pickup in standard position you get a little mud. The issue is significantly less on 35” scale, and a little less when you invert the P pickup. But on all 34” PJs, dialing in between 30-50% back pickup gives the extra bite you need to cut. It is no coincidence Yamaha moved to the VVT setup on the current generation BBs. You could consider a VVT mod on the 1025 Bas, but you can also cut the mud a bit by careful EQing. The ratio low bass 80–120Hz to mid-bass 130Hz–200Hz is key here, generally on a P I boost around 80-100 and cut around 140-180Hz. The P thump lives in the low mids and mud is always just around the corner because of it.. But opinions are like GAS, everyone has them
