@The Greek, Got a SB310 5 string yesterday for these very reasons. Love my Cort but loving the lightness of the Bass Collection.....just about to plug her in and see if it sounds any good

Given what you have said I would suggest you keep the head and indeed get small cabs (or similar). I have nothing against Barefaced, but they are not the only option. Trace Elliot Elf 110 is 300w at 8ohm at 7kg (get 2 and you are pretty loud) or Phil Jones Piranha cabs (the C4 is 400w at 8 ohm and 13kg), or an Eich 110XS (which is think is also 300w at 8 Ohm and 10 kg). Especially the Phil Jones will handle your B string well enough and it is very clean and not too expensive.

Can I just comment on the fact that the C4 is also an awesome Envelope filter pedal? In combination with my Cog T47 this thing just oozes da funk. And yes, I still use an analogue Octaver, even though the OC2 can be closely approximated on both FI and C4. And yes, you need to use a midi switcher for the C4. It has really opened up possibilities.

The Josh Wah is just an incredible envelope/wah pedal, very funky and with huge amounts of gain on tap so you can even dial in dirt if you need/want. Only selling as my Source Audio C4 doubles as a filter pedal and it is pretty awesome in it’s own right, meaning this in essence is surplus to requirement. In good nick optically and in full working condition. Comes without box, price includes shipping. I will let Zach Rizer take you through the features and controls (demo starts @ 8.48m). Open to trades, Source Audio One series pedals or other midi capable pedals, clean boost, a smallish preamp pedal or volume/expression pedals.

If it says 1.33 you need to update the pedal. For this you need to connect it to your computer, with a midi to USB cable and then update (instructions on Panda website).

Let me present the all new Fender American Extreme Ultra Elite series. New for 2023 it replaces the American Ultra series launched in 2019. I know, they look pretty much the same as decades ago, but they are greatly improved and only 500 quid more expensive than the Ultra.

This, I have to admit is exactly what I was thinking... comparing the FI to the Deep Impact is like comparing my Golf of 25 years ago to my current wheels. I am personally happy FI is now reaching it’s full potential, and there is zero point in keeping the DI patches at the forefront. The editor is so much better as well.

Did the physiotherapy/specialist thing. Good and bad news. The bad: my back is injured from a combination of posture, “general use”, bass playing and genetics (my upper back does not have a fully normal curve). Good news: it is manageable and controllable by exercise, better posture and putting less strain on my back. So got a good exercise routine and posture tips, which will help alleviate. I was advised to consider lighter weight instruments and broad straps to minimise strain from my bass playing. All in all pretty good news, although it will take several weeks for the back to improve. Need to think about the lightweight comment.... my favourite basses (Status Electro, Yammy BBP, Ray and Bogarts) are all between 9 and 10.5 lbs. I do not look forward to swapping them for 7/8 lbs basses unless I have to so hopefully exercise will be enough. -

Cheers mate, good advice and much appreciated. I have several appointments scheduled with “specialists” to understand where the issues stem form, especially since I never ever had back issues prior. Clearly before selling all my gear etc it is vital to understand if training, posture can solve the issue. It would be cheaper Will absolutely pm if I feel I need some more first hand experience input. Thank you. -

This is excellent, yesterday I did a quick mock up of something similar. If you can let the bass rest on your hips that will reduce the strain on your back. Now I know the concept works! Cheers for sharing! -

Just back from a session, I alternated standing and sitting down. Wasn’t pretty but my back feels not too bad. I am only 45 so hopefully I can still put off going lightweight only for a few years. 1 hour swimming planned for the am.
