Finally starting to fall to pieces .... sort of

Cheers mate, good advice and much appreciated. I have several appointments scheduled with “specialists” to understand where the issues stem form, especially since I never ever had back issues prior. Clearly before selling all my gear etc it is vital to understand if training, posture can solve the issue. It would be cheaper Will absolutely pm if I feel I need some more first hand experience input. Thank you. -

Don’t get me wrong, health before anything.... but the options get smaller when weight becomes a factor is all. -

This is excellent, yesterday I did a quick mock up of something similar. If you can let the bass rest on your hips that will reduce the strain on your back. Now I know the concept works! Cheers for sharing! -

Just back from a session, I alternated standing and sitting down. Wasn’t pretty but my back feels not too bad. I am only 45 so hopefully I can still put off going lightweight only for a few years. 1 hour swimming planned for the am. -

Thanks for the tips chaps! It is early days, but as a starting point I will get some physiotherapy and such and start building up my core strength. I never realised how crooked my back was... Now to try and sort it. ... and good to see there are lovely lightweights out there -
I have never had any of the issues most musicians have to deal with at some point, no tendon issues, pains or aches in the 30 years I have been playing. Afraid age is catching up to me though.... been having back pains (halfway up the lower back) for a few weeks, so decided to visit the doctor. Undressed as you do, he looked at my back and said. “Are you standing how you normally stand?” To which I responded yes..... Anyway, I am awaiting an appointment with a specialist as apparently my back is not straight (potentially scoliosis) through posture/age etc. He asked straight away, are you a musician (to which I jokingly replied, only the non paid part of what I do... lol). I cannot wear my heavier basses for anything longer than 30 mins at the moment, not handy with several upcoming gigs. Hope it can be sorted, and perhaps I need to start thinking about bass weight too.... Those that have met me know I am quite a big guy (broad shouldered and such) and although I am not as fit or strong as I once was, the thought of having to go lightweight is not very appealing. Ah well, we all get older...

Indeed, but with some nice tweaks.

It makes you wonder, who is the smallest and who the tallest BC member? Any 5’ or 7’ BCers?

At 6 foot I am neither tall nor small

Need to spend much more time with v3 but some preliminary observations: - tracking appears improved - pitch recognition appears slightly improved as well - all presets are more coherent out of the box, i.e. without needing to tweak parameters they are at least “workable” - Is it me just thinking it or does the Program button now switch bank too (cannot remember if old version did that too...)? - significantly more user friendly software - logical and useful manual!

I speak fluent Dutch (handy since I am half Dutch and live here ), have to admit that Quatschmacher is funnier to me (I also speak German) than Basschat ... but others may have differing views.

Hipshot A style comes in 5 string spacings. The 18mm version should be a pretty easy install, although would not be a direct fit.

Just waiting on my transport back to NL. Bas and I did business for the millionth time today which resulted in me having a big case with a rather yummy Yammy with me. And Bas took me to lunch even 😎 Absolute pleasure to deal with, and really nice to meet you in person Bas. Cracking collection of basses you have (even without a jazz ...). Thank you.
