Finally starting to fall to pieces .... sort of
HazBeen replied to HazBeen's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for the tips chaps! It is early days, but as a starting point I will get some physiotherapy and such and start building up my core strength. I never realised how crooked my back was... Now to try and sort it. ... and good to see there are lovely lightweights out there -
I have never had any of the issues most musicians have to deal with at some point, no tendon issues, pains or aches in the 30 years I have been playing. Afraid age is catching up to me though.... been having back pains (halfway up the lower back) for a few weeks, so decided to visit the doctor. Undressed as you do, he looked at my back and said. “Are you standing how you normally stand?” To which I responded yes..... Anyway, I am awaiting an appointment with a specialist as apparently my back is not straight (potentially scoliosis) through posture/age etc. He asked straight away, are you a musician (to which I jokingly replied, only the non paid part of what I do... lol). I cannot wear my heavier basses for anything longer than 30 mins at the moment, not handy with several upcoming gigs. Hope it can be sorted, and perhaps I need to start thinking about bass weight too.... Those that have met me know I am quite a big guy (broad shouldered and such) and although I am not as fit or strong as I once was, the thought of having to go lightweight is not very appealing. Ah well, we all get older...

Indeed, but with some nice tweaks.

It makes you wonder, who is the smallest and who the tallest BC member? Any 5’ or 7’ BCers?

At 6 foot I am neither tall nor small

Need to spend much more time with v3 but some preliminary observations: - tracking appears improved - pitch recognition appears slightly improved as well - all presets are more coherent out of the box, i.e. without needing to tweak parameters they are at least “workable” - Is it me just thinking it or does the Program button now switch bank too (cannot remember if old version did that too...)? - significantly more user friendly software - logical and useful manual!

I speak fluent Dutch (handy since I am half Dutch and live here ), have to admit that Quatschmacher is funnier to me (I also speak German) than Basschat ... but others may have differing views.

Hipshot A style comes in 5 string spacings. The 18mm version should be a pretty easy install, although would not be a direct fit.

Just waiting on my transport back to NL. Bas and I did business for the millionth time today which resulted in me having a big case with a rather yummy Yammy with me. And Bas took me to lunch even 😎 Absolute pleasure to deal with, and really nice to meet you in person Bas. Cracking collection of basses you have (even without a jazz ...). Thank you.

Since I now have an okay effects based solution for the 1 song I need it for, I am considering parting with my 8 string. It is in really good condition I am struggling to see any real sign of use. It really sounds the part too and plays effortlessly. See thru black, black hardware. -Basswood Body with a Flamed Maple Top - 5Pc Maple&Rosewood Neck with a Rosewood Fingerboard - TOM Bridge & Tailpiece and LTD Tuners - Bolt-On Neck Construction with a 34" Scale with 24 Extra Jumbo Frets and a Thin-U Neck Contour The pickups and preamp have been upgraded to Seymour Duncan SSBs and Aguilar OBP-3 I would potentially be open to trades, but ideally looking to sell. Price excludes shipping in Europe (35 quid with neck detached) but also have the ability to take it with me when I visit the greater Manchester area twice a month.

Two Bass Gig Bags - Any good or just too heavy?
HazBeen replied to CamdenRob's topic in Accessories and Misc
I have had a Mono M80 double for years, it has endured countless gigs and still has very limited signs of use and protected my basses against quite a few bumps and (small) drops.. cannot say lower priced once wouldn't do the job but I will probably be buried with my M80s (I have single and doubles). -

Does your band use a sub-woofer as part of your PA?
HazBeen replied to Al Krow's topic in General Discussion
EV ELX200 15SP I believe it is called, a mid priced sub. But we actually used to have the Alto TS series, incl sub and I can’t say they were significantly worse than pur current EV setup.
