  1. Btw Alto surprised me, good value for money and whilst not in RCF territory very useable.
  2. Often we do, small gigs we will generally only route vocals and keys through the PA, if we add guitars/kick etc we take a small sub. Makes a big difference.
  3. I have to disagree with you. Lull, Yamaha all use normal P pickups in their PJ 5s and my Lull PJ5 had one of the best B's I ever owned. It is as much about the construction of the bass as it is about the pickup.
  4. Will stick with my EBS Sheehan for hi gain gallops...
  5. Not sure if they can be considered "reasonaby priced". They often use pretty much the same preamp as the Sandbergs (Glockenklang). Another to keep in mind. https://www.thomann.de/gb/esp_ltd_ap_5_black.htm Price to quality ratio on LTD is pretty amazing too.
  6. Caustic sweat.... it depends on your sweat type and how it corrodes the metal. Pretty sure of that, hence some basses do and others do not discolour.
  7. Not surprised it sold this quickly, price is just ridiculous. Congrats to who got it.
  8. I might be biased, but Bogarts are a hidden gem that hold their own against Modulii, Statii and look better.... if I didn’t already own several this would already be in my possession. Great instruments.
  9. I played 5 stringers exclusively for many years (been playing 30 years in total) and 6 for several years too. At the time I could not imagine ever going back to 4. However, in the last few years I have increasingly gone back to 4, to a point where I now only own 1 5 string that I use when I need it (depping mainly), but day-tp-day I mainly use 4 string basses with a Drop D tuner. And I also have a BEAD tuned 4 string that sounds killer. Ultimately it doesn't really matter what you play, it is what you do with it.
  10. And if you power it with a separate power supply? Still the same? The Pitchblack has a small draw of 35 mA and shouldn’t have any issue being powered from the Fame. AllI can think of is that you are either plugging your dc in into the dc out (which is unlikely), the dc in got damaged (in which case a separate power supply test will confirm/deny) or that you need to plug in a jack (jack switches unit on) for it to work and it just looks as if it isn’t working due to you not trying with a jack inserted.
  11. Lulls are just really really excellent basses,.. period. Cannot go wrong with a Lull.
  12. Yep , I have the SA dual... so handy with the SA pedals too.
  13. A 5 string will always sound a little different than the exact same 4 string version, higher mass, wider neck etc all impact the tone a little. Same with other pickup routings. The best 5 string Ps I have heard are light with a shallower than normal P neck. My theory is that this offsets it being a 5er a little. Lull P5, FBass VF series P5 both I felt sounded amazing. But perhaps a little too “custom”.
  14. Yes, it also makes it cut so very useful in band settings.
  15. Player One, Kitchen Sink (4 I believe)!
  16. Afraid you will have to come to Holland mate, we have currently 2 dates confirmed for February in the Hip in Deventer and Roepaen in Ottersum. I am part of a tribute collective called Grunge Garden Presents, and we do different acts under that name (Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Oasis and now “newly added” Faithless). Happy to share more details, be a good weekend over????
  17. Horrible with names, will double check and let you know asap!
