  1. Okay, how am I going to sell this to the mrs...
  2. I am nursing a semi.... been going round in my head, how many blocks do I use... my HX has ample with 9, with just fx. This has 6, including amps/cabs is not much but it should be enough for most situations, especially if you like me also use seperate pedals. But my HX is going nowhere, besides the form factor I do not need amp/cab sims and I like the fact my HX controles my entire board. But as a standalone mini gigging solution.... yum.
  3. Besides the fact the 7 Nation Army does not have any bass on the original recording, my point is (also see the comment about "bass wasn't there they'd notice") crowds think that singers are cool and talented, some crowds will apprecaite the guitarist or even the drummer. The bassist generally is the guy who plays the fat guitar stringy thing. I am not saying the bassist is not the most important in the band (I happen to think we are), but I am saying people don't really notice the individual. If you are in a good band (I am IMO) that gets the crowd's attention, be happy but be aware only the bass players and maybe 2 others notice what you are doing. I get more praise for my vocals than my bass playing, and trust me I am a better bass player than singer.
  4. Like Flea I generally wear a sock, else I will not be noticed...... Bottomline: people don't notice the bass AT ALL (well apart from the 1 or 2 people that come up to you after a gig, generally bassists and the odd bass lover), unless it isn't there, and they expectation is "what is the singer like". They see a bloke or girl playing a guitar with fat strings on stage and if they look like they are enjoying themselves and blend in to the rest all is well.
  5. Just saw it 469 quid on Andertons. Not cheap, but man that is one feature packed pedal....... well done L6
  6. True, I have made the mistake and it certainly cost me....

This pedal makes total sense to me and I have a sneaky suspicion it will make the DG sound more useable for many of us. Good call.
  8. HAven’t see one in ages, absolute tone monsters. Good luck with the sale!
  9. Let’s see how long it lasts, OC2’s have proven they can take 30 years of use smiling. I certainly have one that I have battered for 25 years or more. Time will tell if the smaller investment means less longevity. Too early to call it..... but I absolutely agree that you get to OC2 territory at a really good price point.
  10. Making some bold “implicit” statements here ;). I also bought the Valeton for my small board, it is good (very very good given the price point) but not COG good. It is noisy in comparison and the Oct2 doesn’t really work well. Overall, and given the price, a very good pedal and I agree with the praise it gets. But it is not a COG (or OC2 killer) at least imo.
  11. I have to admit BPM lost it's appeal a long time ago for me. Indeed too much advertising, too little interesting content. I used to buy them at our local news agent in the early '90s and I would wait for it to drop. Then stopped after a few years and about 6 years ago took a subscription. Totally dissappointed. If we want non critical, "shallow" information on bass we have No Treble nowadays ... I am only partly serious.
  12. The graphite necks were indeed made by SKC for Andy Shack. They do not have the same design though, they have different core material. I also believe Stefan has now stopped making them and is focussing on Bogart.
  13. For me the FI tracking is great, as such me thinks that tracking issues = sloppy playing or “interference” from within the fx chain. Great sounding pedal the Meris but too unpractical for my personal taste. My FI is staying where it is.
  14. Wow, that is SL indeed. My only small gripe is that I prefer the old straight control plate shape to the newer rounded. But others will likely have it the other way around. My old VM was 4.5kg......
  15. Weight difference minimal, graphite is not a lightweight option so to speak.
  16. Yamaha BBN4iii fretless, hands down best bang for the buck
  17. Ken who? Smith you say? Never heard of him, now Joe Bloggs that is one to watch..... Congrats on your new finger puppets!
  18. RIP doorstopper Nice solution. I actually used to have a wirless underneath my pedalboard, and would fold antennas out when using.... go for it.
  19. Lovely bass, absolute cracker of a modern jazz. GLWTS!
  20. I see a lot of “this is not a proper fan”, so how is a 34-37” proper, and 34-35.5 not? To me it is mistaking convention with reality. The ideal G string length many would argue is 32” whilst the best B I ever had was 36”. Should proper not be 32-36” then? Ibanez and others have just taken a different view of what works best in their eyes in my view. Why is the Dingwall Super Jazz scale different than their NG?
