    Line 6 HX

I have one and it has been a game changer. Not only does it give you a very intuitive UI and a lot of exceptionally well modeled emulations, but I also control my entire board from it. You can search for Helix in the Post Your Pedalboard to see and read up on my pedalboard setup. There are lots of threads and videos on HX out there so I will just summarise: a viable sonic alternative/equivalent to most stand alone pedals in a very sturdy and well thought out box, that has the most user friendly interface imaginable and offers so many switching options it is insane. Line6 knocked it out of the park. I would happily gig with just the HX if I had to.
  2. Not sorry, it just made sense considering and that has not changed, but still have fond memories of the Bebop to keep forever
  3. If memory serves me correct they were very similar in layout and tone, not the exact same. The RedFace was a terriffic amp, still one of my favourites ever.
  4. Just because SWR no longer exists and the Red Heads are heavy compared to current D class amps. But they are both great combos if weight is no issue.
  5. My old bass! Still a cracking instrument and you have clearly taken good care of the lady. I am sure she will make someone very happy. GLWTS!
  6. Get your own studio and store everything bulky there. Works for me! Although really not giving a rats about my mrs opinions on what does and does not constitute clutter and mess also helps. I was a musician before we met so she knew exactly what to expect. I find her 400 or however many pairs she actually has pairs of shoes rather annoying, but also accept it to be part of her “hobbies” so just accept it as part of the package.
  7. Wow, this is not a discussion I would expect in 2018 I used to own both. V1 is 240w with Internal speakers, the V2 higher (350 or 400), and indeed both had different speakers. I always preferred the tone of the V1, but it would not handle 5 string overly well. The V2 did a better job (for a 210), but I found the tone to have less character. V1 in my eyes was one of the best 210 combos ever, but underpowered in a big band. V2 did better volume wise (especially with an extension cab :)....) but SWR had already been impacted by Fender decisions which resulted in a very good amp, not a great amp. For me the early to late 90’s were SWR’s golden years, the Red Head, Red Face, Silverado, Studio 220 period.
  8. The current “main” Bass > Temple Audio pedalboard side input > Keeley Compressor Pro > Helix Hx > side output > Mesa amps The Hx also acts as the control centre for the other pedsls, loop 1 “Synths” has the Future Impact and COG T65 in the chain and loop 2 “Dirt and Grit” has the Bearfoot BBO and the Darkglass Duality. I find the B7K emulation to be very close to the original so I no longer have one on the board.
  9. The big rig.... louder than hell itself.
  10. Yeah, but that is because they’re on strike all the time
  11. Fancy nicking a Moollon, rare in UK and with a highly recognisable headstock. If crap converters cannot see that sticking out like a sore thumb I don't know.....
  12. Wow Chris, I am starting to feel fortunate that the multiple times we bought/sold/traded stuff I was lucky to get out unscathed...... criminal mastermind you. Paypal/Ebay, get your finger out... for the money you charge us when we use your "okay, not great" services/systems surely you can afford to link systems so one agonisingly slow resolution process is enough.
  13. I am sure this one has no neck dive
  14. I have 3 of those, the faux headstock types. Indeed well made, but I will stop hijacking this Vigier thread (which are some seriously sexy sounding and looking basses in their own right).
  15. I should not come here, too GAS inducing. I have zero Vigiers, but I do have 3 Bogarts which have a very similar "feel", 80's modern, graphite galore, great tight sound etc. I just really dig the shape of the Passions.. want one...
  16. I like warm and fuzzy BC community threads, brings a smile to your face. This is a great place isn’t it?
  17. That is awful, although he is lucky that as he is well known likely Moollon will send him a new one as their advertising opportunity is now also gone. Same happened with Bryan Beller. Still, doesn’t negate the fact that thieves are the scum of the earth. Stealing is just so low.
  18. Graeme and I traded COGs Proper chap, an absolute pleasure to deal with and would gladly trade/buy/sell again.
  19. I don't think you can claim any preamp is the best as it is the combination with the instrument that is also key. For me in no particular order: - Aguilar OBP3 - great warm sounding pre with a lot of tonal options and well chosen mid-selection. Not overly clean, but not annoyingly coloured either. A little bass heavy in the wrong instrument but a great meat and potatoes pre. Cannot go wrong with an OBP3 imo, fits most styles and most basses. - Glock - my pre of choice for many years. Love the fact that set flat there is ZERO difference to passive. I find the Treble fequency not to my liking, it is not an issue for me as I generally do not boost any trebles. For me the best price/quality ratio on any transparent preamp you can buy currently. - Noll - I have just acquired my 2nd Noll preamp for in my main Bogart. Less transparant than the Glock, a little more transparent than the Aggie. I like the Nolls a lot with Bartolini pickups and since all my Bogarts have Barts this is my current preferred pre and I will be adding one to all 3.
  20. You can see the strings are not long enough, the winding gets slilmmer before the nut. This will have been a "oops, doesn't fit, and now it does" solution, replace with longer string and problem solved.
  21. You want to wire all 3 pickups? Active or passive? The simplest would be volume 3x plus a tone, but I personally would only use the P and MM pickup. The jazz will have a weaker output than the P or MM, so might as well leave. A VVT wiring diagram you can easily find on Bestbassgear.com, an excellent wiring diagram resource.
  22. Our flipping filter is the best bloody flipping filter ever! Talkbass enquired if they could pretty please have it, but we’re not sharing with these bass loving onanists. .... this of course is not true, they don’t love bass, they just love chatting about it. Making a dash for the naughty corner....
