      Yes, I was shocked by this sad news too. Still haven't seen a report of cause of death.... :(

    No brainer, whoever got this got themselves a great cab at a great price.

    Venture MPulse 600 as my main (basically a slant head version of the MPulse 600), I have tried to find a lighter alternative but as far as the sound goes the warm, round defined tone it gives me is one of the best bass tones I’ve ever had and has not been surpassed since buying my 1st MPulse. I tried a D800 which was a great amp, but a little dark for my taste. I also owned a Walkabout 15 (sold it to Beedster of this very parish) which was great for smaller gigs, sounded different to the MPulse but had the same warm, round tone. I tried an M6 which personally did not do it for me compared to the MPulse, the BigBlock 750 I tried was another tone I loved, wouldn’t mind having one. And the 400/400+ is still one of the most highly regarded all valve amps out there.

    Who needs wood anyway, I rate my graphite/composite Bogarts over most wooden basses any day of the week... personal taste and all. But seriously, beyond aging, settling of the fibers etc, a good bass is a good bass. I have played a pre CBS Jazz which sounded and played like a turd, I also played one that made me want to sell a kidney. Same with 2 pre EB Stingrays. So to me, quality of materials and luthier skills is what makes the bass, not the age. Just as I would never fork out 10k on a Smith, Thompson, Fodera I would not pay 5k for a vintage instrument. But that’s just me. And also, so much depends on your touch... tone is in the fingers not the wood nor the EQ.

    Hmmm, good question. I am quite GAS free - never entirely of course - but who knows what will happen post NAMM. I do want to stick Aggie DCBs in all my basses as they are pretty incredible.... okay so I have GAS

    To me the pots and wires pose a bit of a conundrum, it could be me but I think perhaps they are not original.... I would expected some more corrosion of sorts. I fear you may never fully know what’s what, but hey as long as it plays and sounds good.

    Still sounds like Janek. I shudder to think how much the full custom will be, 8000 is my guess.
