1. https://youtu.be/ClV0uM9aC5I I had one, cool pedal with a few nice chorus effects. For recording I prefer actual double tracking and live it made my tone a little too "weird" so sold it. TC has a similar pedal, believe they call it Doubler.
2.
Hi, what scale length please ?
34", so standard Jazz Bass scale.
3. I still prefer my T65 Real world difference between OC-2 "R" and "non-R" clearly is zero. Good news then!
4. Oh my.... I tried the Jules + Power Amp combo, truly one of the sweetest sounding amps I ever heard. GLWTS, I do not see this hanging around for too long.
5. I am not sure on this one.... it's Darkglass meaning build quality will be top notch, it looks very cool and what I can gather from compressed low re Youtube audio it sounds pretty cool. However, from my own experience it is almost impossible to get true "3D sounding dirt" without using at least 2 (or even 3) amps and I suspect that this pedal will not give me more than my multiple pedal/amp setup. Also live so much depends on FOH EQ which most of us will not be able to control fully anyway. So until I hear it in the flesh I am not entirely sold. Kudos for Darkglass to keep on developing new bass specific stuff, but I have the distinct feeling this pedal will end up in my "VMT corner"; cool but not for me.
6.
I would struggle to list which of my basses had which sort of fretboard and I can't remember a time when it mattered a damn to me. I own basses with fretboards made of rosewood, ebony, maple, pau ferro, ebanol, carbon fibre, and triple-ply toilet tissue. OK, I made the last one up. When I play my various basses with their different fretboard woods the sound is amazing ... it's always ME. Suffice it to say that I will be losing no sleep over all this,
True as can be, it is always in the fingers (and the toilet tissue.....)
7. I really need to stop checking this one.....
8.
I need an emoticon showing my jaw smashing down through two floors below.
Is there an emoticon that shows you knocking your head against the wall due to the plethora of utterly beautiful basses in the marketplace at the moment? Stunning Dingwall ...... wow.
9.
They'll get lower pay working in illegal trade?
They will end up living in Indian Rosewood houses.... pretty woeful as most definitely the worst hit will be the people that have the least.
10.
I'm sure the main advantage of the rosewood over the replacement timber will only be that rosewood was slightly cheaper per cubic yard. The tone might possibly be a tad different, but if you don't believe in tonewood then you won't have anything to stress over. That said, if you don't believe in tonewood then why not go for ebonol and a plastic-foam, lightweight body. [/gripe]
This is actually not a silly suggestion, I will take my graphite necked, phenol fingerboard, composite shell foam filled wooden centre bodied Bogarts over most wooden basses any day of the week. Will Pau Ferro be different to Rosewood? Of course, but it won't make a good bass sound bad or bad bass sound good.
11. Yum, as an owner of no less than 3 Bogarts I can vouch for how good these are...... for me they are all I want in a bass. They are quirky, have ultra Fast necks, solid bottom, musical highs. And the fact they are truly hand made by 1 guy in his small shop means they are rare. If only I could validate buying this.... wow, GAS levels are very high. Stuart, your bass is from the early '00's it seems and that would make the preamp a 3 band Noll. If my GAS gets the better of me I might be jumping thru hoops and PM-ing you
12. Love Zon basses, definitely on the gas list.
13. Picked this up in a trade but as I am simply not using it I might as well trade or sell it. Up for grabs is a fretless passive Maruszczyk Elwood. It is a no frills all tone 4 string in good nick. Specs: Alder Body Flat black (it looks pretty cool) Flatsawn Maple Neck Lined Rosewood Fretless (20 lines) fretboard Badass II bridge Custom Maruszczyk Jazz pickups Passive Vol-Vol-Tone There is a mark near the truss rod cavity and a few superficial scratches, I have tried to capture them. Recently a mate borrowed this as a backup to his Fender Jaco and ended up playing this the entire evening, it really is a very good bass for the money. Selling price is no quite a bit below what it owes me and the price includes shipping (with detached neck) within Western Europe. Trading is no longer a serious option as I have my eye on something, but you could always try me. Bass is located in The Hague NL, but I am in UK often enough so we should be able to sort something face-to-face if need be. 14. I have to admit I don't like Markbass for the shallowest of reasons, it's all so fugly. If I drop the attitude I quite like the tone of their heads as long as it is not thru an MB cab. This K series looks to be a really powerful small package, on paper lots to like, I wonder how the speakers hold up though. I have never tried any MB combo, are they quite strong in the upper mid range like the cabs are?
15. This amp is top class, for the money I cannot see why it has not sold..... madness.
16. I am happy this only took 2 hours, as I probably could not have contained myself.
17. I do lots of BV and usually write all lyrics and vocal parts too. I write the bass parts and vocal parts separately to ensure I don't "settle for convenience" and that does present the occasional challenge. For me - like others have also stated - getting the bass part in my muscle memory then frees up room to focus and breathe and hit the right notes (sort of ...). Lots of practise.
18. Still is, just not logged on in 2 years.... how dare he ..... love the vlogs.
19. Reading all of this and looking back at drummer woes I have had in the past (all of us I am sure) makes me feel really grateful to have been playing with the same kick ass drummer now for about 6 years in 2 bands (consecutively). We lock at such a viceral level that we don't even need to look at each other to know what the other is doing and really get the best out of each other. They are out there is the positive message I have to convey, time, effort and luck required of course.
20.
I really dislike flats, but in my case it's because of the feel. I hate the smoothness, they feel almost slimy. Weird I know, but they make me want to wash my hands. I'm not happy unless I've got windings under my fingertips. Which is a shame, because flats can sound great.
This!
21. I would expect the OP is not complaining about noise from a string-less bass...... Are you playing too hard perhaps? Due to the high action and string tension on double bass I would expect you to perhaps be a little heavy handed on a bass guitar. This in turn may cause the pads on your fingers to make more noise than normal. A straighter finger, softer touch and plucking the string with the tip of your finger may help.
22. Unless you have done it before you do not touch a Warrior for a refret is my advice. I have done it on an old banger (I firmly believe every bassist should know how to do work on their instrument) and it was not easy. Not difficult but also not easy and you want a level, nicely crowned and polished fretboard on a Warrior. Getting all frets even is important.
23. I like this a lot, if you have an active bass a good channel strip is more than enough wrt tone shaping and the Presonus is a great bit of kit. I regulargly bypass my Mesa's pre opting to just use the Avalon U5 (also a great, more simple equivalent to the Presonus) direct into the Mosfet power stage. The Powersoft would be what I would use if I went the Power Amp only route. GLWTS, however buys this will have a very good rig at a decent price point!
24. Bump, will drop price to 225£ for the 12 Step + Midi hub, 175£ for the Arturia
