1. You do need to pay attention, but tension wise I think you will be fine if you use a standard B, so a .130 (0.135) even B->B no change E->F# full step up A->B full step up D->E full step up G->A full step up then since you are uptuning the rest a full step I would go with a really light 35-90 set (35-55-70-90). That's what I did back in the day.
2. You see an increasing group of bass players opting for a higher string action (incl. myself) as the tone is much improved, Pattituci, Gwizdala are not the smallest names who have gone down this route. When I upped the action I felt I was struggling with some of the faster lines, but practice and a lighter touch soon sorted that. Now low action feels all wrong. My point without wanting to suggest in any way you do not perhaps already do this, perhaps you need to excercise your hands more. Bill Dickens has some good thoughts on how to strenghten muscles and build dexterity whilst using a lighter touch.
3. I am so happy to be based in NL, come one €! I doubt it will be mindblowingly different and thus an addition to my trusted B7K and Bearfoot BBBO combo though, but it is clearly going to be a cracking pedal.
4. Still very open to sell or trade this lovely fretless. Perhaps I need to try D class again (with the new power modules.....) so Ampeg D800, Magellan or such?
5. Up for grabs is a pretty much good as new OneControl Blender + Buffer. A great way to keep your low end intact by the ability to blend clean with your FX, but it also has a Bjorn Juhl designed buffer built in that you can switch on of off (it is not dependent on engaging the blender, i.e. buffer is for your entire signal chain blender you switch on as required). They are about 110 quid new. I should have the original box still, in good as new condition, so am asking 75 delivered. Potentially open to trades, but already have lots of gear....... http://www.one-control.com/mosquite-blender-with-bjf-buffer.html
6. Worst song ever....... ?? So many popping into my mind at the moment, but taste by nature is subjective. So taking taste out of the picture I am still struggling to isolate the absolute worst So many crappy, ill conceived, badly written and inaptly performed "hits" out there.
7. I think this is all getting out of hand..... 2k for a US Fender, 4k for a Foderander. We're all guilty by association as we should simply stop buying over-priced brands and prices will drop pretty quickly.
8. Swapped some PJB gear with Andy. He lives close to our UK HQ so I was able to meet him face to face. Lovely guy, a good brew and it was really nice to talk kids and bass. Cheers! Harry
9. I have one from the 2nd batch ever built, no issues with peeling or knobs at all and I use it several times a week. It does all I expected and more. At just over 300 quid it is an excellent value pedal that delivers, yes the Deep Impact was cheaper but was also made by Akai not a boutique company. At this price point it is simply the best synth pedal out there at the moment and by quite some margin. If mine got broken or stolen I would buy another immediately. You can spend 300 in many, many worse ways.
10. He is an absolute plonker regardless of his musical taste, it is of course just an opinion, but I have always found him and Oasis to be overrated vomit worthy. But I am sure plenty of people would say the same of my heroes. Taste..... a fickle mistress.
11. We have both, I own the PA which the band uses free of charge. If something breaks it is replaced from the band pot which is replenished on an equal share basis from every gig.
12. It looks fantastic, but you're probably better of spending that cash on a used Yammy or Ibby.
13. Anyone in need of a kidney? I am selling one. Lovely bass!
14. I had undeed noticed, thanks. Some pics now up, ideally daylight ones next time. Happy to snap more during day for anyone if needed.
Hey Hazbeen, the link to the original thread isn't too helpful as the other owner has removed all the pictures and most of the info. 15. I agree, I owned the 250/470 version and it was immensely loud and sounded great. This will be even louder.
16. I detest thieves, zero respect for sneaky rats stealing other people's hard earned stuff. He will be gutted as the M5 was very special to him. Fingers crossed for him.....
