I have 2 headset dynamic mics from Shure up for grabs, come in their original box. Really handy for drummers/bass players etc that do not want or like a standard mic on a stand setup. They are just over £100 new. Looking for £60 shipped per headset. They are in perfect working condition and not have a lot of visual signs of use. I wouldn't recommend them as lead vocal mics, but they work well for backing vocals in not too high volume settings. Ample reviews on the www. https://www.thomann.de/gb/shure_wh20xlr.htm?glp=1

SOLD PENDING - PJB Bighead + headphones
HazBeen replied to HazBeen's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale

Up for grabs some excellent gear that unfortunately is surplus to requirement. Like all PJB gear the Bighead and H850 Headphones deliver nothing but the best tone tailored for bass. Best practice setup you can buy and a pretty mean recording interface too. Comes with all cables and plugs and is in lightly used condition. I upgraded the original PJB Bighead sleeve (which was a rag) to something more protective. Manual included, the original packaging I cannot find but I will package it very well. Shipping included. Specs: The PJB BigHead is not big at all. In fact it is barely larger than an iPhone. The "Big" is about the sound. It functions first as an awesome bass headphone amplifier with 2 band EQ ( +/- 18db @ 60 Hz and +/- 18dB @ 5KHz) set for optimization of all kinds of bass instruments. Unlike consumer electronic MP3 players and smart phones that have very small power output of around 20 milli-watt to drive headphones, the BigHead has more than 10 times the power. This contributes to a far more exhilarating listening experience with increased resolution and dynamics. Even if you are just listening to music, the BigHead will be a great improvement to your regular headphones, adding more listening pleasure. A more important function of the BigHead is being a recording tool both in digital and analog. As an Analog Digital Converter, it has the finest BURR BROWN digital components. The USB out is 48KHz 16Bit digital conversion. In other words, recording your bass onto Pro Tools will give you exactly what you wish for and absolutely nothing else. Maybe you need an analog pre amp. The Big Head can do that too. It will provide up to 12dB of gain and better than 96dB signal to noise ratio. Just use the headphone out jack to feed an amp or mixer. It has an internal lithium-ion rechargeable battery that is fed by its USB jack, so any computer or appropriate cell phone charger can charge it in less than 3 hours, but it can play for up to 8 hours. Not all headphones are suitable for bass instruments. Many may sound good for casual listening, but plug them into the headphone jack of a bass amp and you will soon find their limitations. PJB H-850 headphones are the first pair designed specifically to bridge the gap between high-quality music and deep and clear bass. They are a result of years of auditioning and analyzing the mechanisms of what works best for the reproduction of music and bass. Utilizing high power 40mm neodymium magnets and closed back acoustic loading, we were able to achieve superb sound reproduction for both music and bass instruments. The H-850 are ergonomically designed with shape and materials to be lightweight so they can be worn comfortably for hours. They also have excellent acoustic isolation from external noise and headphone bleed through for recording application. After you try the H-850 you will soon realize these will be your favorite tools.

My Dad who passed at only 49 back in '88. Still miss him and his humour every day.

I played 5s exclusively but am now very much a 4 and 5 guy switching between the 2. Generally I play all the drop D stuff on the 4, as well as some standard tuning songs, the rest on the 5. Works for me!

** SOLD** HIWATT DR201 Replica (the Weber MYWATT200)
HazBeen replied to petergales's topic in Amps and Cabs For Sale
I did not expect to see my old amp up for sale, but needs change so respect to you that you are giving someone else the ability to buy this Pete. The Mywatt is a beast of an amp, to date it still ranks in the best 3 amps I have ever used and is worth every penny. And buy with confidence folks, top chap to deal with. -
I think a 40" A and D string wouldn't have particularly nice tone. B I get, E possibly still ok. Fanned Fret makes more sense to me.

Makes you wonder why we have to pay so much for the original.... don't get me wrong I absolutely love my B7K (and B3K before it) and Fuzz, but have always felt they were a tad on the expensive side.

Fault or not Fault? Thomann`s customer service
HazBeen replied to zvirus's topic in General Discussion
Thomann have great customer service, I have spent a lot of money there and on the very infrequent misses (shipping, failty product etc) they always went out of their way to rectify. Must be a misunderstanding..... -
Relative positions of the MM pickup in MusicMan basses
HazBeen replied to Dood's topic in Bass Guitars
Sorry, this is incorrect. The Sterling/Stingray/Reflex HH and HS in 4 and 5 string have the traditional H in exactly the same spot. It is only the Bongo HH and HS that is different, (and as noted about, the 25th Anniversary HSS/Reflex HSS).
I cannot measure it as I have zero Rays nowadays, so will take your word for it. -

Relative positions of the MM pickup in MusicMan basses
HazBeen replied to Dood's topic in Bass Guitars
The HH/HS versions do not have the rear pickup in the same "sweet spot" location and whilst they sound good, to me they don't sound quite like a Stingray. Same with Fender PJ models, P pickup is lightly moved forward making them a little darker. The HS I had sounded a little more tinny on back pickup, it never sounded as good as my good old 4 string H. -

Graham bought my de Gier Bebop 5, we met face to face for the deal and besides being a solid and trustworthy gent we had a really nice talk on bass, life and lots of other things. Would deal with Graham again without hesitation! Thank you!

I have gone through similar thoughts on effects and pro and con discussions, fact of the matter is that if you lengthen the cable and have a lot of pedals signal will degrade to a point. To an extent there is a trade off you have to make. Good quality cables (Evidence Audio SIS for instance), high quality pedals (with good connectors), parallel loop pedals (to cut our cable not in use) and high quality buffers (either stand alone or built in) limit this greatly. I have some but not much difference direct vs via my board and my setup consists of 12 pedals. Now if effects are right for you, that is another discussion. I could not do without in any scenario I can picture, others do not need any or just 1 or 2.

Ah, net worth of only 245m....

Darryl Jones wasn't even their 1st choice. Doug Wimbish played on Mick Jagger's solo recording and was the #1 choice. Rumour has it he would have been made a "real" Stone if he had accepted. I am pretty sure Darryl Jones is ok with the role, made him more money than any of his other gigs. He is rumoured to have 250m USD.....

They are called TRS sockets, Tip, Ring, Sleeve. You are referring to a barrel socket. Almost without fail wiring will be sleeve earth, ring will be battery and tip will be hot. http://www.bestbassgear.com/ebass/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/Picture-12.png
