1. And I'd almost forget Bongo Fury..... Captain Beefheart baby!
2. Ooh man, I just checked my record collection to see what a good place to start would be. I started with Overnight Sensation/Apostrophe, great playing some say his best band. I also love the period of Sheik Yerbouti/Zoot Allures etc. But then things like Freak Out of Tinseltown Rebellion. My favourite period is '73-84 roughly. Any record in these years will do. Great playing by Patrick O'Hearn, Scott Tunes, Tom Fowler, Roy Estrada during these years.
3. A preamp has the same function as active onboard eq. Tone shaping, sure you can adjust your amp but why would you if you can do so elsewhere?
4. I like Scott's playing. For my taste I have seen him on better form in some of his other videos. It is not very "funky", well played on the whole but not funky. Still, keep 'em coming Scott, one of the better "tutors" on the net.
5. +1 to the above. It pretty much will help you understand note for note.
6. As Dood said, I tried my guitarists VTwin in my blend looper, pretty cool - not great - there are better offerings for bass available...
7. FI + Strymon Mobius.......... Wow. I cannot recommend the FI enough, best synth pedal on market today I reckon.
8. OC-2, any Overdrive or fuzz and envelope filter..... Job done.
9. Hi TommyK, how's the kids? G#m I believe, but heck as long as we understand what it is right? I play this song with my tribute, looks about right as described above. Very "old school" progression really.
10.
I have no interest in striving to do it all ... Nor any interest in telling other bassists how they should play.
Good for you, no need to follow any opinions given if it helps.
11. I think as bassists we should strive to do it all - the right technique for the right sound - fingers, muted thumb, slap/pop, pick, tap, skip and hop.... In essence play what sounds right.
12. Depends on the bass, East pre's can be amazing but you need the flat response version in any case. I just stuck a U Retro Deluxe in my 5 string Jazz and it sounds amazing (but does have passive tone control in both active and passive mode). My 4 string Jazz is passive. 3 CTS pots, some wire and a uF0.047 Orange drop and some soldering, presto!

14. There is something incredibly Anglo-Saxon about the inability to be happy for a "small" company becoming even a little succesful. Buy British in favour of American I say (and I am only half English). Endorsements have several forms, from getting your stuff free to getting a small discount. Nothing wrong here at all. Well done mr Claber!
15. Thank you Brian, great seller!

Marinus and I traded basses. Very nice guy who was very welcoming to me and my son when we visited him. Great guy, great trade.
