1. Hello! After many hours of searching Craigslist in America for a hidden gem, I have found this poorly listed item up for sale at $450. Listed simply as a blue Jazz bass, it doesn't offer up much detail... So, it seems to be a sonic blue Jazz bass with matching headstock, block inlays & binding, in a Fender tweed case. The decal seems to be very similar to a 60's model, and the machine heads appear to be the long reverse tuners of yesteryear. To me it looks pretty damn close to a '66 Jazz, pictured here... But now look at the area where the control plate is to supposed to meet up with the scratchplate. There's an unusually large gap, and to me the body shape to the right of the control plate doesn't look quite right either. The scratchplate also looks like it's missing the screw hole in the centre above the neck pickup. So what is this thing?! A fairly accurate copy of a '66? The real deal with some shoddy replaced hardwear? Cheap knockoff? Something else? I'm interested in hearing your opinions! Thanks!
  2. Are you interested in trades at all?
  3. Actually it looks a bit like a later 70's neck which at some point has been fitted with the earlier 70's decal.
  4.
the truss rod does adjust at the heel
Yeah but there shouldn't be the mark on the headstock where the truss access would be, right? I've only this on necks from this era with maple fretboards... Not to be a naysayer or anything....I'm just a bit confused by it.
  5. Should a '75 precision neck with a rosewood board have truss rod access at the nut? Shouldn't it be at the heel instead?
  6. I'm pretty interested in this! Is there any way you could take a few photographs, please? Thanks!
  7. Interested in this if it becomes available again!
  8. That looks incredible! Great job.

  10.
I don't think you would encounter those problems with a modern Gibson nitro finish, Gareth.
Not sure if '94 would really be considered "Modern", but my Les Paul from that year has natural finish checking all over it...

  13. A total shame! I found out a few weeks ago whilst trying to find Andy's email address on the site. The P in my Big P/J combo didn't have an even output across the board...although it does seem alright again right now. Maybe just a loose wire. They sound amazing when working right!! Very dark and heavy...especially when pushed through a mess of over-driven tube amps and an old Russian Big Muff like here! 16. Nice! If you give the gear on the back the tuner a light spritz of WD-40, it will loosen right up. If you're opposed to spraying anything near your guitar, you can just spray it onto a rag and then transfer it to the machine heads...
what jazz bass is this.? sorry i havent read through previous posts. its a 60's jazz with a p pickup mod right.?
I modeled it on a 61' from various Japanese / American / Mexican Fender parts, but nothing's older than the 80's...
  21.
I said this in the Jazz thread, but I have to state again that this bass is amazing. Probably one of my favourites I've seen on this site actually! It just has 'it'. Even the little details like how the pickguard has gaps from the previously housed j-pickup that would normally make a bass look horrid just adds miles of character to this. Please tell me you play punk or hardcore music. I'll climb out of this bass' arse now .
Ha thank you very much! I do indeed play punk & hardcore.

Can't afford to buy a custom made scratchplate right now, so I routed my old one for the time being!
