  1. Here we have a beautiful, and close to showroom condition, Mike Lull JT5 five string bass. Only reason for sale is arthritis in my left wrist which is forcing me to return to four string basses - even then it's hard work! 👎 This was handmade in USA and is passive. It is fitted with Mike Lull's take on the Thunderbird type pickups which give great tone, pots are vol vol tone. The scale is 35" and there are 24 frets. Body is swamp ash (beautiful three tone sunburst finish), the neck is one piece maple and graphite reinforced and has a lovely maple fingerboard. Bone at nut is 1. 7/8 inches. It is fitted with Hipshot tuners and bridge. Due to covid the bass has had little use so the finish is still really excellent. I don't have sound clips, but they exist on You Tube. The weight is stated to be 3.9k but it feels lighter to me and is very comfortable on the shoulders and easy to play. I can't add too much more - the pictures reveal all! I would prefer a face to face meet up and would travel a reasonable distance to deliver. Any questions please ask. You're welcome to come and try it in Bournemouth. I've jut added a few more pics to show the excellent condition of the bass. Neck socket and rear of neck in particular.
  2. I'm sure this deserves a bump? First bass I've put up which hasn't raised a single question!
  3. I've just bought a lovely Fender Custom Shop Jazz bass from Andrew, and couldn't be happier! Usual suspicious car park meet, good 4g signal, deal done in no time. We both had a bit of a drive to meet, but had a good chat about bands, gear, and the beautiful weather.😃 Good communications throughout and a pleasure to do business with Andrew. Well recommended Basschatter.
  4. FINAL PRICE DROP TO £1,000 Part one of my five string bass sell off due to my arthritic left wrist telling me that it doesn't want to stretch across five string fingerboards any more! Rarely use the G string anyway! 😂 This is quite a rare one now from Kevin Brubaker's earler days. It is the sequel to the Lexa bass and is from 1999, in a stunning transparent flame (front and back) double cutaway ash body. This is also edged in natural edging, and is beautifully finished. The strong point is the super smooth and flat deep set bolt on maple neck with a lovely rosewood fingerboard and is 34.5" scale. The nut is 1.75" and there are 24 frets. The bass originally came to me via Elderly Instruments of Lansing, Michigan as a lined fretless bass. After a while I had the bass refretted at The Bass Gallery (beautiful job) and was told that it had left the factory fretted. There is no evidence of any of this previous work on the fretboard. There are swirls in the finish but I can see no dinks or through finish chips anywhere. The pickups are Basslines soapbar and they are complimented by a Seymour Duncan 3 band active pre amp, all working fine. The preamp and battery is accessed via a large SINGLE screwed cover, now isn't that a good idea? It is fitted with a Hipshot bridge and tuners. A few of the pics below are from the original advert, notably the fretboard finish, which shows it when it was lined fretless. I've weighed it at around 9.5 lbs or just over 4kilos. You're welcome to try the bass in Bournemouth. I would ideally like to hand the bass over personally rather than send it via carrier. Please let me know if you need to know anything else. No music files I'm afraid. Edit new pictures to reflect a truer colour.
  5. For info, (member asked). Mexican PB with Lollar pj pickups, Modulus M92 Sweet Spot 5, Reverend US Rimblefish 5, signed by Joe Naylor, Fender Bass V with Bartolini pb and musicman pickups, Mike Lull T5 with Seymour Duncan pre amp, de Gier pb 5 with Lollar pj pickups, Brubaker NBS1 5, Modulus Flea 5 with Lane Poor pickup. Lucky boy!
  6. Here's my current collection - pre retirement sale!!!
  7. Thanks all, these should shut me up for a while! Much appreciated.
  8. Thanks Itu, hope you're well - and busy.
  9. Thanks for that neepheid, sheetmusicdirect looks like the one I want.
  10. Yup, got that one, and yes it's great. Managed to unravel How Sweet It Is with that book. I really want a source where I can download individual music and print off. Don't mind paying.
  11. Any suggestions for accessing individual bass scores online? My particular interest is Motown and Northern Soul. Thanks. Graham
  12. Well, as the o OP of this post, I can now update with my experience. I never got round to trying this at the time but, as a result of advancing age and wrist problems, I purchased a very well set up Mexican Precision Bass on here and fitted strings tuned to BEAD with no mods at all, and it's a revelation! As stated above I rarely used the G string and can access most higher notes that I may occasionally need on the D. I'm a very happy bunny! 👍👍👍👍👍
  13. Bought a used, but excellent condition, Fender Mexico Precision Bass from Steve in a very smooth sale. The bass was in better condition than expected. Couldn't recommend Steve as a seller more. Graham
  14. I've just had the pleasure of buying this bass from Steve.
  15. Here's a great piece of history for the price of a good foot pedal. I've had this for a long time from new (let's not say how many years)! Due to the weight I've been using one of the new D class amps for some years now and this beauty is just not getting any use any more. I had it revalved a couple of years back and have only gigged it twice since then. It has a transistor pre amp and a valve power amp, and it is LOUD! It's in great condition for its age. See pic showing all valves fired up. I've just fired it up and all channels work as they should, as do all pots which do what they say they do. I had a kettle lead plug put on, as you will see in the pics. It comes with the Roqsolid cover. I will not post or courier this due to the weight but am happy to travel a reasonable distance for a meet up (splitting the cost) or you can come and try it out here in Bournemouth - tea supplied. Any questions, please ask.
  16. Ampeg specs attached below. The speakers cost over £700 each new FYI. Any more questions, please ask. Cheers, Graham
  17. I've had the Classic 410HLE and Classic 410HLF (used together and separately), but have been using two PN210 HLF for the last few years and find them louder, punchier and more easily transported. They are paired with an Ampeg PF 800 d class amp. Been perfect for me, but, as I have two similar rigs, the Ampeg is currently up for sale on here. The other is lighter, but the Ampeg sounds better.
  18. OK, must move on. Now £500, let's be 'avin you. I have two excellent compact, but powerful bass rigs, and, with the amount of gigs I have, this is completely unnecessary. My back is telling me to keep the Barefaced and my ears are telling me to keep the Ampeg! So the Ampeg loses out. The photos below show that it comprises two PN210HLF cabinets and the excellent PF800 amp which are all in very good condition and working as they should do. The cabs are rated at 550 watts each and each have an adjustable tweeter. They are 8 ohm cabinets. They come with Roqsolid covers as shown and have a few very minor scuffs in the very hardwearing finish. This set up is easily loud enough for small to medium sized venues and is very punchy with a surprising amount of bass as a result of the full width ports. The amp is super reliable and features compression, mute button, bass and treble quick boost buttons and a five way adjustable mid range control along with the usual controls. I'd prefer to deliver this for obvious reasons for shared cost. I'm not looking for trades and the price is firm. Collection also is an option, although we would have to wait for the relaxation of lockdown rules. Any questions please ask.
  19. Sold my lovely Sadowsky Metro to Jon, and what an agreeable sale - apart from the weather! Great communications throughout, came almost to my door (local Premier Inn car park) and bank transfer under an umbrella. Smooth as clockwork. Pity we met in the covid era, would have liked a good chat about basses and bands. Excellent Basschat buyer.
  20. You're quite correct of course Mr Hunt - EMG it was. Traded it on here some years ago.
  21. I had a black one of these which also had a single Bartolini pickup. Although a 35" scale it doesn't feel it and much easier to play than any other 35" I've played, so don't let the scale put you off. Also, the lightest bass I've ever owned. GLWTS
