1. Just sold an amp to Mike. Great communication and Instant payment. Cheers, Darren
2. Only the cab available now. Thanks.
3. Had a quick Google and it is reported to be 24lb. Cheers.
4. Amp now on hold. Cab still available.
5. Had this cab for 2 years, from new. Never had a single issue with it. Very clean and very well looked after. Comes with roqsolid padded cover. Pick up only from Stockport, SK4. Cheers. £100
6. Ask around at work (the footy / down the pub etc). A year or so ago, I decided to put a talent show type thing on to raise money for charity. I sent an email around at work asking for volunteer musicians and was amazed at how many people played instruments.
7.
If, like me, you work for a living then I'm sure there's times when you wish you had a bass to practise with, whether it be at lunch, on the bus or even in a 2 hour meeting you know will not affect you or need your input but you've been dragged into anyway. So, what techniques do you use to practise in these situations? All I've currently managed is some right hand stuff like finger plucking on my right knee or slap patterns. Does anyone else run into this, and if so, what do you do?
Not sure I'd want to sit next to you in a 2 hour meeting. Not as bad as constantly clicking a pen I suppose.
8.
If you use the really thin jigsaw blades and take care, a jigsaw will be fine. Most people use the wide blades and they do not turn easily. If you want to reduce sanding time, do not use the scroller feature. It is quick but leaves a mess.
Thanks! I'll do that.
9. I too couldn't resist one of these. I intend to reshape the headstock at some point. I was thinking of using a coping saw but may go jigsaw now. I prefer mine without the pickguard but the gold and those bridge saddles work nicely.
10. Done. Is it something that marks out what a reasonable footprint for a drum kit and guitarist pedal board should look like?
11. Maybe it's the player that gets better as the bass gets older. Assuming it doesn't sit in a box under the bed.
12. Air confusion: a drunk punter who inexplicably stands in front of you and plays your bassline note for note on air drums. Bonkers.
13. That's true. Probably best not to let a drummer set up without pointing out that the stage is for everyone to use. Spatial awareness and the ability to whack things is not strongly correlated.
well… atleast theyre not drummers.
14. I've got the rumble 500 head and a rumble 112 cab (v2). Have to say it serves my needs very well and if I needed to replace I'd probably get the same thing (maybe the 115 v3 cab though). These days I don't use the overdrive or shaping buttons at the pre-amp. I also keep the eq flat. That said I always have a chorus and overdrive pedal on every song. The two things I missed going from my old amp to the rumble are a mute switch and clipping light for the gain. This doesn't bother me at all now I'm used to the amp and I have a tuner pedal I can use to mute the signal. Great choice.
15. Rickenbacker: a guitar brand for musicians who wear hats and fashionable glasses
16. Just bought a chorus pedal off Pete. Good price, speedy delivery and well packaged. Pedal in excellent condition, as described. Thanks, Darren
17. Do you have any grandchildren? I have two daughters and as much as I love playing live music, a trip to the play parkland an ice-cream ain't bad either
Not for some of us 4 Sting. Rock & Roll ,playing bass and gigging is it for me.I have zero interest in anything else. I've always been this way. Blue
18. Ibanez talman
19. I've got one of these. Difficult to understand how they can sell them for this money. Great piece of kit
20. Ibanez talman. One UN ivory and one in black
21.
Another new bass suggestion - Ibanez Talman TMB-100 can be had new from Thomann for a smidge over £150. Only got the ivory finish left though. I have a mint green one and I think it's really good for the money and feels familiar but looks just that little bit different to what's out there. http://www.thomann.de/gb/ibanez_tmb100_iv_talman_bass.htm
I've got one of these. They look and sound fantastic. Also consider the Harley Benton PB-50. Go on thomann and read the reviews - seems to be a bit of a bargain.
22. I never used to for years. These days I always have a bit of chorus and overdrive on as standard.
23. Power ballad sentimental warblings about being dumped is not something I'm interested in regardless of how well done it might be. Can't argue with the sales figures though.
24. I think I'm nursing a semi
25.
And the reason things are actually "rare" is usually one of two things: no one wanted one when they were new (perhaps they were simply too expensive for what they were), so they didn't make or sell very many or they didn't work very well / broke so very few people kept one. A Morris Ital (for those of you of a certain vintage) is a very rare car now, but it was crap when it was new and time hasn't made it any better. The sane goes for a lot of things.
The triumph dollopofsh*te probably hasn't got any better
