1.
They look great and I'd love one to use alongside my BB424 but I hate hate hate 2+2 head stocks with a passion! Such a shame
Shane that. I think it looks cool but each to their own. I've owned a 424 incidentally and I'd say the build quality is similar. The only components that are noticeably cheap are the tuning pegs. To me this floors the 424 in terms of tone but it would be a killer pairing.
2. Thanks. Really didn't know what to expect at this price point. Really happy. Can't wait to gig it next Saturday.
3. Got a talman from tomann on Wednesday and took it to band practice on yesterday. Probably the best sounding bass I've played. Never had an active bass before and it's great fun. Neck feels really nice. Chunky in a good way. Reminds me of an epiphone jc neck but in a satin finish. Build quality is fantastic. I love it!
4. I like owning nice stuff and I like being in a band but our drummers kit cost ~£90 and the guitarists both have inexpensive gear so it's difficult to justify the expense of top end gear.
5. Ibanez talman pj in white. Bit worried they might be crap though.
6. I've got a 1024 in vintage white on order from Yamaha London. I ordered it a month ago and they told me it wouldn't be in stock until the 18th September. So not discontinued but some delay in getting them over to Europe for whatever reason. I think the 424 is a fantastic bass and I'm always bit tempted to cancel the order and get a 424 plus an Ibanez tmb-100 talman (both in white) and pocket the £150 difference.
7. Can you tell me the weight please?
8.
That looks like a three colour sunburst where the red has faded away - it's not as it left the factory.
As opposed to snot as it left the factory
9. Gorgeous. Wonder why they don't orientate the split p pickup on the new BBs like that.
10. Keep coming back to this for another look. Not what I'm in the market for really but gorgeous bass.
11. For me, this and the other 1999 are the two nicest basses for sale on here at the moment. Lovely bass bump.
12. Lovely looking bass. Doesn't the serial number put it at 1994? Just realised N+9 for 1999
13.
So cool. This bass has some serious mojo.
More like fauxjo. Cooler than a Gucci fridge freezer. Me like.
14. I have a detached house, the nearest neighbour the other side of my garage and play through a 15w combo at less than half volume. I've never given bass noise pollution a second thought. However, when my 1 year old is teething and screaming at the top of her voice (poor thing) I do tend to close the windows to protect the neighbours.

This bass is practically brand new and has no dings or scratches. I bought it new a few weeks ago and the stock strings are still zingy. I've been so impressed with this bass that I've just bought a BB1024 in the same colour. There are two things I'd like to mention. The neck pocket isn't as tight on the G string side compared to the E string side. You have to get close up to see it (pictured). Probably notice this sort of thing more on non-pickguard basses. Also you can feel the grain in the nato laminate closest to E string if you rub your finger lightly along it. You don't notice it when playing. I might be being a little picky pointing these things out but I want to be as open as possible. The bass sounds great and is so impressive it convinced me to buy a BB1024. I doubt you will get a better bass than a BB424 for £200. I thought I was a fender precision guy but this bass has changed that. Just looking for cash please. Manchester pickup. Many thanks, Darren
22. Sold a bass to Simon today. Great guy and a pleasure to deal with.
23. With the mods done to this bass it is in AVRI territory but £1000 less and with Japanese build quality type bump
24.
So, say I was interested in buying bits for a DIY precision. Would a solid wood body from a third party be just as good as a 'real'fender? Sounds like so long as it's not blockboard, the answer is "yes" although I guess cosmetically some may be nicer finished thank others?
I've posted this link elsewhere. This grumpy guy has an interesting take on tone woods http://youtu.be/mVmFlzksMCE
