1.
I've just fitted a Seymour Duncan SPB-1 and one of Basschat's very own Ki0gon's vintage wiring kits to my Precision. The combination has exactly nailed the classic Precision tone for me.
Out of interest, what capacitor did you go with in the wiring kit? I went 0.1uF but not installed the kit yet. Still wondering whether to upgrade the pickups in my Japanese PB57-US at the same time. I've got the KiOgon vintage wiring kit and some labella 760FL strings sorted. Just need to make a decision on whether or not to replace the Japanese made "US vintage" pickups. Been looking at the Fender Pure Vintage 58 P-Bass pickup on Thomann. Darren
2.
Robert Plant went right down in my estimation with his answer
Probably the most disturbing thing I have read on BC
3. TV200 As in the lambretta model but could also stand for "Total Valve 200 watts"
4. I don't think there is anything to fix as I liked the sound of the jazz I owned. That said, a new and quality wiring kit including CTS pots and switchcraft jack socket can be purchased on this very forum and doesn't cost much. I know this because I just bought one
5. Get a P. A white one.
6. I had an American special jazz and I agree with the comments of others who speak highly of the necks on the Am. special basses. Others have commented that they prefer the tone circuitry on the Am. Standard but this can be changed easily enough.
7. He's got the minerals for sure. Wouldn't want to listen to an hours worth though.
8. Received a wiring kit from John for my PB57-US. Great person to deal with, very helpful and great communication. Thanks, Darren
9.
That looks great. What type of P is it, US, CIJ etc? I'm after a minty green ply plate for my Korean Squier P but none of the available options fit. Is the Bass Doc a good bet?
It's a US. I got it for my 21st birthday present in 1996.
10. Jack and danny basses get good reviews on here. The jazz basses look very nice http://basschat.co.uk/topic/227514-new-bass-day-jd-vintage-1975-review-good/
11. It helps to deal with the various stages of quitting separately. Weeks 1 and 2 - make sure you are well hydrated and never hungry, sleep as much as you can and only talk to people that you are fond of. Weeks 3 and 4 - things are less intense now and you will have developed enough coping strategies to get to your first important milestone, a smoke free month. It will be tough at times though. Weeks 4 onwards- never smoke another cigarette. Ever. Keep reminding yourself of the reasons you have decided to stop and remember to be proud of yourself. Good luck
12. I've plugged mine into my iPod speakers before now. Very mini rig!
13. I think I'm going to get one of these too. I like the look of the green jazz but I fancy the white precision. Just need to convince myself that I need a third precision!
14. Bet you could easily sell the cab and keep the head. I reckon you could get £150 for it.
15. I think one of these is tempting http://basschat.co.uk/topic/222780-nbd-jack-danny-1975-jazz/
16. If you like the look of jazz type basses check out Jack & Danny. Nice bass for the money. http://www.dv247.com/guitars/jandd-jb-vintage-1975-sfgr-bass-guitar-surf-green--201561
17. I've had the 500 head for a while now and would recommend without hesitation. I play mine through one of the v2 rumble 1x12 cabs and it serves me very well. If my cab packed up I'd be tempted by the v3 1x15. I think that setup would sound great and would look cooler than a Gucci fridge freezer.
18. Not sure if it's been said already but could you get away with using a behringer BDI21 and going through the pa. Save your back and cash
19. Lovely bass. Have a bump.

This is mine. Not exactly LPB and the tort is a bit rubbish but blue and tort works
21.
Sounds ace in my bedroom
I only use one 8 ohm speaker so I'm probably not using the 500 head optimally to be honest. With my current set up I like the eq more or less flat with a little low mid boost and the bass backed off a little (with a little overdrive on some songs).
22.
I have a Rumble 40 from the current line, and it's a LOVELY amp. Great tone with the EQ flat, the preset tone shapes are brilliant fun, especially the 'vintage' button which turns my 1x10 combo into a tube top with a 2x15 underneath it. I have also recorded a couple of tracks using the DI and it worked a treat. I haven't tried the 500 but if it's anything like my 40 then you would be making a smart choice.
I like the sound of the vintage (in combination with the overdrive), but it just gets lost when the drummer gets going.
23.
That`s largely what the review in BGM said - leave all the fiddly bits alone and concentrate on the core tone, which they rated as very good. The vid-clips on Youtube sound great. I`ve always liked Fender bass amps, they have a brilliant tone to them, especially - imv - when used with Fender basses.
Yep. I use mine with a fender precision and it just works.
24. I've got the 500 rumble head and one of the old fender neo 1x12 cabs. Not quite the same but I have gigged it a few times and I'm very happy with it. The overdrive is a really nice feature IMO and it is light, loud and to my ears sounds great (does warm and old school very nicely). That said the preset tone shaping options are rubbish and there is no mute which is a shame. Not thinking of changing my rig for what it's worth.
