  1. Hello Bass chatters, The amp I recently brought (Mesa M9 Carbine) was upgraded with NOS Mallard tube, I was wondering what folk thought about compared to the standard 12AX7, And in general Mesa Boogie tubes in general? In the grand scheme of things how much difference would changing the single pre-amp tube make to the overall tone of an amp?
  2. I replaced my customer warwick hardware from chrome to black. Sale includes bridge, machine heads, strap locks and pots. Price is totally open to negotiations Collection from Camberley GU46 or Osterley TW7 Or will ship internationally.....buyer to pay. Pics incoming!

  4. Where in surrey are you dude?
  5. Ive been playing Mesa mainly for the last 10years or so, they're bomb proof and I've only had one problem with an amp that was easily fixed. I think that like a new car they're over priced new, but you can pick-up some good value heads on here. The Big Block 750 is a great amp, easy to dial in and loud as my sister is wide (very). I use a powerhouse 4x10 and its tight and punchy, fits in the boot of my vw golf with the seats-up, a bit weighty but i don't mind as its not awkward to move. Again you can get a PH cab on here for £400-500, the larger cabs due to their size seem to be even better value if you can deal with the weight\size.
  6. Ive seen the amp in pics and on the web but not played through one, its one of the few Mesa heads of recent years I've not owned in some way and it looks like a tweakers heaven or hell depending on how disciplined one is. How are you finding it? Do you use much the extra eq features? Im awaiting delivery of a M9 anyway now, theres not been many reviews online so i may do a video review.
  7. Taking a cue from the posts here I brought two sets of light elixirs from the US fleabay. All in with shipping it was £63 so assuming I don't get stung on import it works out as a decent saving.
  8. On Hold, Pending Payment & the usual
  9. but thinking about I owned a warwick tube path 10.1 it made it through 30mins of rehearsal before it went pop! Sounded pretty good for the time it worked lol
  10. when I was at school i used a carlsboro 1x15 no idea if it was a bass amp or a keyboard amp but it swiftly meant I brought my own amp lol
  11. Thanks gentlefolk! That helps a lot, it's a fairly new amp ( within the last couple of years ) so it'll be ok. Thought it would be worth double checking even though I know you can buy plug adapters etc I just wanted to make sure that there was no reason for a drop in performance etc. Cheers!
  12. Hiya guys, Im thinking of buying a bass amp from europe, the amp is 230volts, is that going to be ok here in the UK? Is there anything else i need to ask the seller to check? Cheers
  13. I'm in the process of swapping amps to wither a Mesa M-pulse or M9 Carbine i was wondering about what people thought about the mesa compressor? In particular its place in the signal chain on the amp. The Compressor is placed after all the eq and before the master volume control. I think most of the other compressors I've seen on bass amps have been placed just after the first input gain pot. I've not personally used compression on my bass before and i'd only like to use it to try give a more balanced sound, but when i have, i've generally used it before the amp. Would this be the general rule of thumb or am i mistaken? Cheers :-)
  14. I'd sell this amp for £850 but i would prefer a trade for the m-pulse 600 or the Titan v12 might be an option , just thought I'd mention that
  15. Yes Sir! Merry Christmas! ;-)
  16. Price drop £999!
  17. I have a nice Mesa Big block 750 that i would love to trade or sell for a Mesa Boogie M-pulse 600. i know its the m-pulse is the older model from the big block, but it has a slightly more modern sound that id like to revisit. The Big block itself is great condition, comes with a front tuner port and a footswitch for the overdrive boost. I would prefer it if the footswitch was present for the m-pulse. Its very easy to get a great sound out of it and its thunderously loud! If someone has a 360 i would consider trade with either an additional mesa 1x15 or cash to bolster the trade Im based in Camberley, Surrey. Can drive for meet and potential trade to london area or surrounds for test drives but also happy to ship (buyer to cover courier) [attachment=150969:photo 1 copy.jpg] [attachment=150971:photo 3.JPG] [attachment=150972:photo 4.JPG] [attachment=150973:photo 5.JPG]
  18. Thanks guys, especially for the string suggestions. Id forgotten about the DR DDT line, as this is (as far as i can tell) a temporary thing I'm gonna try some roughish recording and see how it goes, i don't think theres any intention at this point to play live. Ive dropped to A before on my B string and thats as floppy as i've ever intended to go which was far more successful on my ibanez than my warwick. I'll have a tinker and see what results i get :-)
  19. Hi everyone! I've been contacted by a couple of bands recently enquiring about recording some tracks for them. Both bands are playing in some really low timings for instance : F A♯ D♯ G♯ C♯ F A♯ D♯ on a 8-string guitar. I play a 5-string and the lowest I've gone before is dropping by B-string to drop A. So how's the best way to approach this to ensure my bass is playable? It's all really heavy stuff that Is aptly named "sludge metal" If this becomes a regular thing should consider looking for some form of extended range bass or something?
  20. Hmmmm....I'd say Iron Maidens Losfer Words off of powerslave. But that's the only one that springs to mind at the mo, I'm sure others could suggest better/more accessible to the listener
  21. Trade with confidence! Jim's a top bloke and his gear is the highest quality
