Also, saw a label inside saying Made in Czechoslovakia which I hadn't seen before so it's definitely 18 years or older! -
Souping up DIY styley - The Aftermath!!!!

So... I stripped the fingerboard of it's horrible, bubbly lacquer to find a nice piece of wood. I bought some Innovation Honeys and strung it up. I went into the studio today and recorded with 1xPeluso U47 and Stereo C414EB'S through Cadac desk and it sounds like a completely different bass!!! Thanks for all of your advice, may take you up on help with a setup actually Bob if that's ok? Action's maybe just a little high but not too bad! I've left the fingerboard completely untreated for the moment, what do you reckon's best? An oil of some sort perhaps? Cheers! Jake -
You left your car unlocked with your basses in it? Are you sure your insurance is going to cover that....
Yeah, Allianz Powerplay is great. Covered all over the world including theft from an unattended, unlocked car! Lucky I went with them really! Cheers guys, will post a photo when I find a clear one. Gonna have a call round the Cash Convertors tomorrow.

Ah man, that's crazy!!!!! Must have been a nightmare getting it rebuilt! Idiots!

Mate, wasn't in there overnight, not that dumb! I was just loading in for a gig, left the car for 2 minutes to run up and lock my flat! Admittedly the car was unlocked, that is dumb. Had a PA etc in there so didn't even notice until we unloaded at the other end!!!

sh*t man, hope you get them back! They're certainly noticeable aren't they! Robbing bastards! Just in time for Xmas too!

Cheers guys. Yeah, it's insured, it's just the sentimental thing. That bass has been around the world with me. I did always want to try a Sandberg though!

My bass got stolen from a car outside my house in the Aigburth area of Liverpool on Friday night. If anyone gets offered a black Fender Jazz mim 60th anniversary deluxe with red tort pickguard in a black fender softcase with 2 leads, a sansamp and a boss tu2 in can you let me know. Nightmare!!! Cheers, Jake

A little late for this thread! Some cool stuff up here! Check this lot out, some cool grooves! Sky King - Why Don't You Take Us (I think Emilio Castillo and The Funky Doctor from T.o.P were on this) http://youtu.be/k_P7LaOYGho And here's a session my band 6ix Toys did for Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show a few years ago! http://youtu.be/bqeYuzVjHys Love the Funk!!

Hi All, I've got a lovely NS Design NXT 5 (B E A D G) that I would like to sell or trade. I got the NS back in March and it's a truly wonderful instrument. Sounds great both in the studio and on gigs. I've just been having a longing for something with a real body and that proper woody thunk of an acoustic upright do have spent some time and cash doing up the acoustic I have! I bought it from Haz ,who's on here somewhere, for £700 and it's still in the same condition so I'm looking to get that back! In terms of trades, I'm looking for an Epiphone Jack Casady + Cash or an Epiphone Rivoli or something of a similar nature (not anything violin shaped as I've already got access to one of them!). Open to other offers! Cosmetically, the NS is perfect and there is only a very small amount of wear on the fingerboard. Comes with the tripod stand and soft case as standard. I'll get pictures up this week! Cheers, Jake

Thanks, yeah having dived into Daf's posts about the innovations I think Honey's are a good option, especially at the price. Don't suppose you would know anyone decent for setups in the North West? Might be a case of selling the NS and diving into something new though! -
Markbass for me every time! Versatile and simple to get a great tone! The EBS stuff's undoubtedly brilliant, just wasn't a fan of the EQ, more complicated and a little less musical in my opinion. Comparison made between a Mark Bass Little Tube through a Epifani 2x10 and an EBS Fafner through EBS 4x10 + 1x15 cabs. Both in Live situations.

Nice, cheers! The Bassmax is on the shopping list, liked the look of them! Those innovations are reasonably priced, what sort of tone do you get with them? I'm after something not too bright with plenty of sustain, mainly pizz but sound ok bowed! -
Hi Guys, I have got sick and tired of the lack of body and tone in EUB's and want to bring the Ply acoustic up to some sort of recording/live standard. I know very little about the bass other than it's not great. A mate's Dad who repairs them said it wasn't bad and was in ok condition. So, where would I start in trying to get it to sound better? I'm on a bit of a budget as I don't want to spend loads only to find it was still an old dog! Here's what I was thinking: Strings - the strings on it seem really mismatched and horrible so that's a start! I was thinking Thomastik Superflexible as an all round good'un? Fingerboard - It's a lacquered jobby and the lacquer has peeled in places, going to strip it! What's the best way to strip it and will I need to treat the wood beneath in some way? Thinking that's a good starting place, any other bits I can try? All advice would be awesome!! Thanks, Jake

Just bought Dave's Epifani PS210! Was great to deal with from start to finish and obviously takes extremely good care of his gear! The Cab's exactly as described and some! Cheers mate, Jake

Hi Guys, My band 6ix Toys have been busy in the studio recently working on our second album and we've decided to start documenting our progress as we work through stuff! We're lucky enough to have our own studio, fully equipped with some great gear so we've been multitracking the jams and filming some bits to make the pre-production process more interesting! Check it out and let us know what you think! http://vimeo.com/31014668 Also worth mentioning that the studio is available at reasonable rates for all you North West bass chatters! Check it out here: http://www.sonicgun.co.uk Last, but not least, we have also just started releasing some of our previously unheard material. We started with our "Future Funk" EP which features some great vocal collabs including Bang On! (Big Dada) and Greta Svabo Bech (Raise Your Weapons - Deadmau5). It can be heard and bought through our website, which is also a good place to follow us if you dig it! http://www.6ixtoys.com Enjoy y'all! Jake
