1. Dear lord I want this! Can I trade you any of my vital organs plus cash?
2. Evening Since downsizing my rig to just my ABM RC head I now have a 4U Warwick rockcase surplus to requirements. It's in really good condition except for some cosmetic marks and scrapes, mostly to the top. The frame, corners, latches, handle, feet etc are all in top nick and 100% working. I don't have the key for the locks but I'm pretty sure it's the same key you get with all these types of locks on cases. SOLD Cheers
3. Sold Pete my rack tuner tonight. Really nice guy and dead easy to deal with. It was nice having a chat over the deal =)
4. It's a Monday morning kinda bump!
5. To shave a little weight from my current ABM rack set up I'm stripping it back to just the head and a 2U case. As such I now have a redundant Samon PB10 power conditioner to sell. I bought this unit brand new back in September and it is in flawless mint condition. The Samson POWERBRITE PB10 is a 19 inch rackmount power conditioner that makes the perfect addition to any rack case. The PB 10 is loaded with 9 IEC outlets (8 rear and 1 front panel). The PB10 features a 10-amp circuit breaker, surge protection, peak voltage clamping and RFI/EMI filtering to provide clean, uninterrupted power. The front panel houses 2 LED lamps with dimmer control for rack illumination. The Powerbrite PB 10 also has a gooseneck lamp included for lighting the rear of your rack case. The PB10 comes boxed with manual, 4 male to female euro leads (3 unused & 1 cut to a shorter size) and the USB goose neck light. *SOLD* Cheers
6.
Well it appears the weight thing has been the deciding factor for me - and I don't mean how heavy it isn't! A few posts previously the comment was made that the sound doesn't have the 'weight' behind it, something I'd been trying to put my finger on. On Friday evening I gigged it at a local pub, on top of my Barefaced Compact. Yes it was loud enough, but something wasn't there that I'm used to with my ABM (and my Klystron which I have recently moved on). However it was lovely to not have the weight of the ABM - I turned up with cab, bass and a laptop bag loaded with amp, pedal and all my cables. Nice. After much consideration, I decided the MiBass is going back and I will continue with the ABM (and also a Terror Bass I've recently acquired). There's just something very special about the ABM that I can't let it go - it has weight on both counts, one positive and one negative, which must cancel each other out lol. Cheers Geoff
As we've discussed in this thread Geoff I too sent my MiBass back. Gigging last night with my ABM it just felt right and I could 'feel' every note. I'm now at peace with the weight for weight philosophy.
7. Bought this Kingman off Gafbass last November but the project I bought it for never got off the ground so selling it on. Real shame as the neck plays just like my jazz bass and it sounds brilliant acoustic and plugged in. Still in mint condition although there is a slight tarnish to the pickguard just under the neck (can see in the picture below). I have no idea what caused it but wanted to highlight it. Comes with Rockbag gig bag *SOLD* Original thread: http://basschat.co.u...-acoustic-sold/ Cheers
8. Sold and bought a few things on here now and wanted to get my feedback thread going. Hopefully the peeps on here I've done deals with will kindly kick this thing off
9. Thanks for all the feedback guys, really appreciated. I think I'll keep an eye on our fellow american bass classifieds and see if any turn up secondhand. Had a look today and just missed out on a bass mods K6 for $600
10. I am so envious of her raw natural talent. She has the skills, chops and note choice of someone twice her age.
11.
You seen the Steve Bailey Signature? Was a little expenisive though!
Yeah it's nice although like you say a little expensive and not a classic design with the scratchplate and jack socket.
12. I don't know why Fender don't make a standard 6 string Jazz
13. You're welcome Geoff I think we're definitely on the same page here, I think the word I've been looking for is 'organic'. I forgot to say I found when setting the input level it was really sensitive and when clipping produced a really nasty distorted clipping. My ABM is a lot smoother and tends to give a more overdrive sound when clipping. I'm really interested in trying some other Class D amp heads, especially the GenzBenz Streamliner with it's triple valve preamp. Till then I'm gonna stick with my ABM. Out of curiosity what model are you using? Cheers Alf
14. Oooh now thats nice, and with a classic headstock to boot, not a fan of the headstocks on the other two basses. I was really looking at £800 max so this is bit expensive for me sadly but definitely worth a look, cheers EBS Freak
15. Morning I'm trying to find a nice 6 string jazz bass with jazz string spacing (18-19mm) that doesn't involve selling a kidney to have a custom job. I have found two models that fit the bill. A KSD V70J6 - http://www.adirondac.../70_6string.htm And a Bassmods K6 - http://www.bassmods....2-4-11_p_8.html After doing a bit of reading I've heard mix reviews over the build quality of the Bassmods model which is a shame as it looks like a beast. The KSD I would anticipate to be built very well for the money due to the Ken Smith name. However I can only find these models in the states and I'm a little aprehensive of forking out that kind of dollar without trying them first, especially if it'll cost $100 to send them back if I don't like them. Does anybody have a contact or any idea where I might be able to get the KSD model imported to the UK. I've looked through the dealers list and there's no UK dealer at present. Or can anybody suggest an alternative? Cheers
16.
So, how did it perform? I'm keen to hear your thoughts. Cheers Geoff
Ok here's my two cents The build of the amp is brilliant, very strong and looks nice. It has a great sound and the EQ is really responsive and easy to cut or boost. I didn't like the VU meter. It's size made the needle a little too jerky to read nicely. My main idea for getting this was to replace my ABM 500 III head with a smaller, lighter head. However comparing the two the MiBass seems to be missing something that the ABM has. I can't put my finger on it, maybe it's the anologue power stage compared to the MiBass' digital power stage but something didn't feel right when playing through it. Much like when I play guitar through a Line 6 amp or a traditional valve amp, there is something that doesn't quite feel natural through the digital amp. This isn't a digital amp vs analogue amp tone snobbery thing, far from it, the MiBass sounded great. Also although there is only 25 watts between them I found the MiBass didn't have near as much headroom and was struggling at the gig. In the end I swapped back to my ABM head. It could be that I like my ABM head too much and was looking for reasons not to change. I really did like the MiBass and was hoping it would sound similiar to my ABM. It's compact size, weight and desktop use is great and if I could afford it I'd keep it as a backup unit. But I would still insist people try one if they interest you, I could be that I'm just a little crazy
17. Woo hoo my Mibass 550 has just arrived, sadly I'm at work so can't use it till the gig tonight. First impressions though nice and light, but not too light that it'll get knocked of a cab easily and the knobs and sliders feel very nice. Very impressed. Can't wait to hear it.
18. I've got the cash now I've sold my bass, sadly my local shop is out of stock so gotta wait till next weekend. EDIT: Scratch that, just found somewhere online with one in stock. Delivered tomorrow, gigged tomorrow night. Boom!
19. Price drop and bump before it goes on eVilbay
