  1. Without my glasses I can't see the neck of the bass clearly! Although I don't need to look at the neck all the time, I like to see it clearly when I do look. As regards Buddy Holly and John Lennon their glasses are part of their iconic image..... as distinct from practical considerations?
  2. Perhaps approach the shop to find out if they know him, and if he is who he says he is. Maybe they could contact him on your behalf? You clearly delivered the amp to his address originally? So to go back and pester him would be a possibility. ATB, Paul.
  3. Just had a meet up with Roger; I must say he did the lion's share of the driving. I bought his Epifani UL110. A real gentleman and a pleasure to meet. Many thanks Roger, its sounding great. Good wishes, and maybe see you at the Herts Bass Bash, Paul.
  4. If you are going to keep the bass, it really doesn't matter what you do to it, as long as you are happy. If you plan to sell it at some stage, then either leave it as it is, or, get famous. ATB Paul.
  5. In my very early days, (1974) I thought I'd be clever and buy a Carlsbro Marlin PA amp and put it through my 4 x 12 so that I could connect not only my bass but also a couple of mics for our 2 singers. The bass sounded really crap! Later I also connected a set of EKO bass pedals too, and yes you guessed it, they sounded crap too. Recently I used a hire amp at our rehearsal place: it was a 300watt Laney...... really crap too. Nothing like my Aguilar! Cheers, Paul.
  6. Brand new straplocks in packaging; new price (at GAK) £14.95. Selling for £10.00 inc P & P. Paypal gift or bank transfer. Cheers, Paul.
  7. Having played in many bands over the years my hearing has suffered to such a point that I won't tolerate loud unprotected music so, as many musicans can't emphasise and refuse to turn down, I turn them down by wearing custom made ear protectors: made by ACS and moulded to my ear canal. You can choose the amount of attenuation you want, you can even convert them to IEM's. They do take some getting used to, but really work brilliantly. Cost about £140.... but what price your hearing? ATB Paul.
  8. Nice bass good luck with the sale type bump
  9. Bought Moog's mint green classic Musicman Stingray. Thoroughly decent bloke to deal with. Thanks Moog, Paul.
  10. The link doesn't see to work.........
  11. Band pic for our website but includes my JC. [attachment=131407:DSC_0385.JPG]
  12. Thanks Guys, Sorry to hear that they couldn't make it. Sign of the difficult times and possibly their own lack of business acumen and customer service, all in abundance at The BG, which if you are based in relative easy reach of London takes a lot of beating. Cheers, Paul.
  13. Does anyone know if they are still trading in Thurrock as their website seems gone?
  14. There's a very reasonable 63 Fender Precision going for £2700 at The Bass Gallery..... won't be around for long at that price even if it is a refin. Cheers, Paul. (ps sale has nothing to do with me)
  15. What sort of commission does Andy Baxter charge?
  16. As many of you guys have said these 70's Fenders (the heavy ones) really have an amazing sound of their own, quite different from the lighter ones. I guess its only the same as playing your average 5 string Stingray etc. I'm selling my Walnut/Mocha one as you might have seen (also sounding fantastic), but I wish you luck with the sale of this one, as someone will get a great sound. Paul.
  17. Be really great if you could change main heading to sold, save us all trawling through posts.... ta.
  18. If you really want the gig, put in as much prep as pos. But realistically (as others have said) you'll probably only have the chance to work out some basslines for 2 or 3, but they will show your potential. Main thing is are you expected to play someone else's basslines or your own.... that will need to be negotiated. Good luck, Paul.
