I have a TC-Electronics Nova pedal which I use in my guitar rig which is a lot of fun with a bass. Typically, I hardly use it as the only song I play with it is One of These Days (Pink Floyd)! Beyond that, I can't any other use for it!
Yeah, I'm thinking it's a limited application but in the right place it should sound sweet...I can always use it with my 6 string set-up too
I haven't actually tried digital delays in a band setting because I don't like their sterile sound in isolation so I never bothered, but I agree that I always felt with the Memory Toy and the CC that it got a bit muddied in a band. I'd only use them in a situation where there would be very little of the other instruments, like at a song intro or quiet interlude. I just don't think delay belongs on bass other than in situations like these anyway, generally speaking...
That's exactly the scenario I'm thinking of for using a little delay!
I also had the Memory Toy and A-B'd it with the CC, if I remember the degradation is darker and more pronounced with the CC, but the Toy has wider range, a bit more extreme. Depends what suits you best, but they are very, very similar. I sold the Toy and kept the CC.
Thanks matey, I'll be watching for a good price on a CC then!

Recommended basses for playing up the dusty end

My Lakland 55-01 is comfy all the way up and sounds clear on every fret -
So, the mxr is firm favourite so far but the byoc looks good too...hhmmm
I had a Carbon Copy and loved it. Then I got a Line 6 M9 and A-B'd the "Analog Delay w/Mod" model in it against the Carbon Copy and couldn't hear a difference at all, even the degradation of the repetitions sounded alike. So I sold it. Now I'm back to single pedals though, and if I need a delay again I'll get the same one. Aqua Puss is bigger and I use a Pedaltrain Mini so...
Thanks for that mate! Hav you tried a byoc as above?
Got a nice BYOC analogue for £70 if you're interested Pm me!
Oo! Are there any sound samples or vids for them anywhere pls?
-
Am thinking about either an mxr carbon copy or a way huge aquapuss... anyone got/used these on bass? anyone use something else I'd be mad not to consider? I'm looking at about £100 and like analog delay for its character, bucket brigade style!

Using an Active bass on passive amp setting
andydye replied to clashcityrocker's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hav had several mm basses and have always used them in the 'passive' hole, I was told that only mega Pokey active basses like alembic etc go in 'active'... This may it may not have been correct info but it has worked fine for me... -
I have pre-ordered my antacid for next year.in the form of a Lakland 55-02 so that and having completely changed my rig in 2011 has exhausted my gas issues... I do totally agree on the gig acquisition though!!! I do really want to try a Wal fretless to see what all the fuss is about though and one day I'll buy a Sadowsky UV70 too

Not sure how much a Peavey grind is but I think they're 35" and not too expensive? They're popular-ish I think...

Jez bought a bunch of picks from me, instant payment, good banter, lovely guy! Recommended!!
Not wanting to cast a shadow on Lakland as I have owned a few of them, but never found the Bart MK pickups to my liking to be honest. Good shout though, they do the job for a great many people and are built to last. Cheers, Mark.
I love the feel of mine but may one day upgrade the pups to maybe some nordstrand fat stacks, the barts are doin a great job for now though...

You should be able to snag a s/h Lakland 55-01 for around 400, they're amazing!
-
Mark bought my blue tortex picks, paid instantly and had great comms, thanks matey! No problems here, would gladly recommend to all!
-
Harry just bought a bunch of strings from me, instant payment via e-cheque (so no fees all round) and was fantastically communicative and patient throughout! A top chap who I'd not hesitate to recommend! Goonies rule!
It's true, I only use gravity picks for playing now. They're that good. But I'm trying to build my "wall of picks" collection Anyhoo... If you find any more please keep me in mind? I never turn down picks for postage.
Will do, no prob...is a wall of picks worthy of a build diary I wonder?
-
Damn I collect picks, I would have loved these! EDIT: actually andydye, you already know I collect picks! Would have appreciated the offer!
Sorry 'bout that, I thought you might have changed your ways since the gravity picks arrived...I'm a one brand man now for picks!

You can't beat a bit of ACG holly at Christmas
andydye replied to GreeneKing's topic in Bass Guitars
I'm afraid I was expecting much the same as dudewheresmybass but I've never seen such a pretty headless bass! Love the sovereign addition too! The Holly top looks like molten silk! -
i often use a Behringer amp at the studio we rehearse at if i can't get my own amp there, combined with a Marshall 4x12 it can sound flippin awesome somedays, i've often thought sometimes i'll just get one of these a a backup. Nice and easy to use, great range of sounds, decent shape filter, good rock tone, all in all a good back up. Not the same as the one in the add though but this one http://www.behringer...ts/BX4500H.aspx
It's an 'ashdown-a-like' for £200! I may get one as a back up!!
