had a wt800 a little while back, sounded bloody brilliant! connectors available were standard jack 'or' banana plug if you wanted to do wierd things with it...check the manufacturers website for each head, they usually have photos of the front and rear of the head, I always do this before I consider a purchase so I can check whether the features I'm after are on that amp... wt800 - fat, loud, clear, lovely highs, valve pre, solid state power stage
Yep the RBX 6JM is a very nice bass and becoming rarer The Turqouise one is now Charic's, I still have the red one and it is for sale, I have to many basses and nowhere to sleep The Yamaha has some chips and scuffs, but it's solid as a rock with low action mine comes with a flight case (Not hard case) and gold Schaller strap locks (Including the strap bits)
Thanks Lorne, does yours have a 'for sale' thread? How much is yours up for? How much were they when new?
I had one for a few years too, the Turquoise version. Looks stunning and play extremely well (for my hands at least!). Im not sure if it was just the JM's, but Yammies seem to end up with jack socket problems, the leads fall out if you jiggle the bass a little. Make sure you get that sorted before you buy it, or get prepared to spend a little cash on a new jack socket once you've bought it. Electrically, I never had any problems. The tone controls are very very sensitive and have a massive scope. Jangly highs all the way to dubby lows. Absolutely fantastic instruments. Build quality is out of this world. Personally, just because they're incredible instruments, I'd be happy to pay anything up to £600 (if i was gassing for one). But I doubt you'll ever have to pay that much. I reckon £400-£450 is good money. Truckstop
Thanks matey, more positive comments on these! You wonder why they stopped making them (apart from JM shifting to EBMM)...

What can I use to make my sound "better"?
andydye replied to Herbie The Rad Dorklift's topic in Effects
a compressor pedal like my EBS will even out and slightly fatten up, you'll also notice springier treble and more clarity... -
Awesome! Sounds like I'll love it!
I've got one and I love it. Picked it up on here from Lorne. The RBX6JM is the first model (green or red with the infinity inlay) and two pickups. The second one is the one that looks like the newer RBX basses with one pickup. Not much to say that hasn't been said except the B is THUNDEROUS. Also the bass is lovely and growly in general
That's perfect, many thanks!
in brief: any good? if it's a first generation RBXJM (the one with 2 pick ups) I would go as far as to say that it's VERY good. I've heard mixed opinions about the newer model. I've only seen it once, and it didn't impress me. But I have NOT played it. The only thing a little wrong with that bass is probably the electronics (not the pickups), but you are gonna stay safe as long as you don't tweak the pots too much. It's got a very fast attack, something that is not really usual (IMO) with yamaha basses, and the ebony fingerboard makes it sound very... I'd say "precise", if you will. I personally like its sound a lot. One important thing to be aware of: string spacing. It is very narrow, around 15-16 mm, and you really have to get used to it (you do, eventually, in 20 minutes). It is by no means as wide as that of a TRB. this said, I remember that bass as a joy to play. the narrow string spacing allows for a slimmer neck, which is a plus for me. I wouldn't pay more than £500.
That's about it really, I hav the option to buy a john Myung Sig Yamaha but can't find out how much they were new or much beyond the basic spec really, are they any good? What are they like to play? Help Ta

when I had beginners gear and other middle order stuff too I prattled with my eq muchly in order to get a sound that would sound full and still cut so lots of bass and mid shuffling up and down to find it... since improving my amps via hartke, then eden and now a genz benz head through an epi UL112-2 I no longer have to faff with the amps eq I just leave it flat and only touch it if the room has an explosive frequency... my stingray 5 now cuts and fills just lovely
We have discussed a six string and are working on a prototype and about to send bridge drawings to hardware manufacturer. I'm sure not when we will bring it out as a standard model - but we may well do it as a Special Edition in limited numbers in the not too distant future - will keep you posted.. Chris
Sounds fab, thanks Chris
I've been looking around for PLI recently for exactly the same reason as the OP. I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions of companies that will insure a band rather than individuals? As we're an 11 piece this makes it pretty unfeasible!
We are only 7 but we're looking at... http://www.performingartsinsurance.co.uk/

Hiya all, Not sure where to put this but as it's gig related I'll stick it here until told otherwise Our band are playing a wedding evening do for some friends at a new (to us) venue (cutlers hall in Sheffield), the venue are requiring us to take out public liability insurance up to £5million, has anyone else had to do this? Is this standard for venues? or is this onerous and to be challenged? Help
An update on this - I just swapped by 2x112s for a lovely Eden 410 (about 15yrs old I think) and it is SO much louder. It sounds absolutely amazing actually - beautiful tone across the spectrum with the WTX500. I guess the Eden + Aguilar combo was just unlucky for me!
A very pleasing result!

Yep, ebs nice!
This looks a lot like the one I sold a while back.......if it is it's a cracking bass and would still be with me if I was any good live with a 5
Arrite matey! I bought it from a chappie in London called Joe, it is a cracking bass though, I've used it a couple of times and it's really rich sounding! What I really wanted when I bought it was an EUB so I should have just got one instead of allowing GAS to steer my purchase. -
Withers not too tough (on bass)
I don't mind it being tricky, I love wither, it would help if it kinda fit with wedding evening do's though...(should've mentioned that before )
