1. I can see enough of the end of the head without taking anything off mine to be able to get a screwdriver onto it and not leave a mark on the scratchplate on my '78 fretless but on my '78 fretted I can't ...although some helpful soul has historically done a bit of routing to allow a channel to the screw head...?
 2.
I also have a 2010 Jazz. These are magnificent basses and I cannot believe the price being asked here. This is a huge bargain for a beautiful mint condition bass.
cheers matey, it's a beaut, way nicer than any new one I've tried in a shop and they're on the wall at nearly £1200!
 3. well, that was eventful to say the least! we were added to the bill somewhat last minute to make up the numbers as a favour to the promoter and upon arrival...BOTH the other bands had jibbed! cancelled! welched!! 'lil feckers!! So there we were at the venue with the soundman (who was VERY pleased to see us!) but with no drums as one of the other bands was to have provided them, no-one else on the bill for the evening...and no-one in the bar AT ALL (apart form the bar staff). did we pull the whole thing? did we chuff! Our drummer (normally has his drums in the car but took them out this time!) set off home to fetch his drums (a 45 min drive each way!) while we set about ringing round anyone we knew who had an acoustic guitar and could do a 30min set to start the evening off...after a good few messages and phone calls we managed to drag a good friend away from a family meal to come and open up for us - job one ticked off! We then texted everyone we knew to get them to come down to an intimate evening with the Fargo Railroad Co and ended up with a good few in there which pleased the bar staff no end! I've started taking a pic of the crowd during one of the songs that has a long gap before the rest of the band come in (it's called The Well and it's on our soundcloud), very atmospheric civil war epic type thing with a killer phaser part on the guitar Compared to an empty bar this is a huge improvement and they were all listening which is awesome! slightly gratuitous set-list on '78 p-bass pic ...in short we saved the evening, hauled the promoter's ass out of the fire (he wasn't allowed to be there due to being barred from the bar, not a clue what he'd done!) and the bar's manager was well into both the music and our bar filling abilities so he took a couple of fliers! We also had another local promoter there with us for the evening (one we want to impress as he does nicer shows!) and despite the fubar start to the evening he hung around until the end with us and had a good time, complimenting us on our set an dlooking forward to our show for him in November so all ended way better than it started!!
 4.
Finally a little bit of sun for making decent pictures!! Photobucket album here: http://s171.photobuc...d?sort=3&page=1 notice: the bass has a wonderful satin dark blue color but if you get really closer you can see the Swamp Ash wood under the color
pretty colour indeed
 5.
That's lovely. I've just stuck the same preamp in an ACG fretted P/J bass.
cheers matey, it's lovely to play and the pre is very versatile with that sweepable mid! ...my current band suits passive p-bass aesthetics and sound though so this has never had an outing
 6.
No worries Rob, relics are an acquired taste! Sounds superb though and at least I won't worry about it picking up a couple o dings when I'm playing in Wath tonite. GLWTS mate.
Mart's J is awesome btw! It's not on the sales list is it mate? Maybe we could arrange a 3 way trade if it is...?
 7. [s]For sale my pristine (literally unused) ACG Graft Recurve Fretless 5 (ref G026 - http://www.acguitars...rve-5-fretless/). Usual story of bought for a project that folded just before I received the bass...grrrr! Black limba top Alder body Ebony fingerboard (unlined) 34" scale This one is a bit different to the standard Graft spec as it has the East U-retro preamp which was an extra and an MM/J pup config (the originally specified p pup wasn't right so Alan switched it for an MM he had in the same casing size). controls are: vol/bal treble/bass mid/freq Sounds superb, the sweepable mid gives you just about any fretless sound you wanna make especially coupled with the MM and J pups! Also comes with a set of new strings. 9.
Not really looking for trades. But hey, you can always try. Might consider a Joe Osborn 5 string.
how about an acg 5 string?
 10. David very kindly went out of his way to deliver my new/old Fender P fretless on his way past to a variety of other jobs he was doing that day! Superb bass, superb bc'er, many thanks matey!
 11. any trades matey?

 13. There's a pjb bassbuddy on here at the moment and they're magnificent little practise things, headphone amp and could drive a cab a very low volume! Sound beautiful and clear, you can mix an mp3 in too!!
 14.
cheers andy hope ur well……. any recent additions to your (bass) family? best wishes paul
hiya matey, you're most welcome yep doin good thanks, having an exciting time with a new originals band (links in sig) and that's prompted a total rig switch! I'm all valve and all orange now with a nice old p bass and another one incoming ...obviously a couple outgoing to compensate... really enjoying making a lot of noise in public
 15. superb piece of kit bump glwts matey!
 16.
BTW - just looked at your gig pics. You've lost your hair , got a goatee and put some pork on round the middle - you look worryingly like me !
haha! I'm worried I look like you the hair's just short (honest guv!) although the front is definitely further back than it used to be the goatee has been a fixture since I was 16 so that's not new as such, it is a lot longer and greyer than ever before though ...and, as for the pork it's not just pork I'll have you know, at least some of it is donner meat and cake I was definitely thinner in my Trad days!
 17.
Have a "very nice but wallet firmly in pocket" bump
thankyou kind sir
 18.
Done Phil. Now all we need is for someone to explain why my PDF has been converted into an IDB, and how you're supposed to open it ...
I think it's a forum peccadillo, if you download it and 'if need be' change the extension to .pdf it opens fine...mine downloaded as a pdf
 19.
sorry to be a pedant sir, but is it 2010, or is it 14 years old? either way it looks nice though
oo bobbins! ta for reading it properly!! you've passed the test while I was posting it t'internet went fubar and created 7 listings for it so proof-reading got sidelined until garymac kindly fettled it for me info corrected, it is indeed a 2010 making it 4 years old and not 14 years old
 20. well I've never had t'internet do that on me before! 7 threads opened just cos it was having an episode!!
 21. [s]For sale my (very) recently acquired 2010 Fender USA Std J in Oly white with tort guard and maple fingerboard (Alder body, American standard single coil pickups, graphite rods etc etc). It's in absolutely stunning condition for a 4yr old bass (I've certainly not had chance to do more than noodle on it at home once or twice) and sounds super sweet like a J should. I've got an opportunity to match up my vintage p with a fretless sibling so summat's gotta go! Comes with case candy and OHSC (the SKB coffin style with 4 locks), one foot of the case has been broken but doesn't affect the enveloping protection of the rectangular beastie. The bass is unmarked. Currently strung with roundwound strings and sounding superb! Given that the last one was listed at £850 I'd like one million dollars for this, well maybe £750 local collection from Sheffield more than welcome, I'm also happy to ship if need be. Some cr*ppy phone pics (nicer pics are in post #6). [/s]
