1. oo cool! we were offered a slot in the Green Room but our guitarist is on holiday this week
2.
This is pretty much exactly what I'm looking to do, but I might stick with rounds on this bass and just use foam to mute the strings, maybe anyway. John has actually PM'd me this morning so I'll be talking with the man himself about the wiring kit
John's a star! super helpful and very very efficient! Foam under the strings, I've done this before an dth eeffect is good, try to make sure the foam isn't too thick that it raises the strings though as it'll pull you out of tune a bit...I found that a cut up cotbed mattress provided good foam for 'that motown sound' I think I've still got some in my drawer at home...
3. Kiogon wiring loom, look no further Spb-1 is good, antiquity 2 is also lovely
4. welcome indeed
5. just beautiful! I tried one of these on the gallery and just loved it
6. Lakland 55-02 or 44-02, awesome, versatile, spot on!
7.
It was the tut n shive as I recall. 'Mad' Cliff was the drummer !! She also took part in the beer tent jam after we played the main stage at the Clarence Fest once. Welshy did it , me , Rod , couple of drummers including little Mark - maybe you too , I know I didn't do it all. I fact I recall dong one song on a G and L and I bet it was yours. 2001 - it was boiling hot.
good beer in the Tut, it's gone now isn't it? paving the way for progress etc... Pretty sure I've not played anything at Clarence (yet), I'd hope to remember that one, in fact I think I only made it there on one occasion which is a rather poor show! I still live in hope of playing there in that funny white house-stage-thing of course I have had a couple of G&Ls but I suspect the G&L in question might have belonged to Marc Coyles' mate who drummed and played bass, his name might have been Ian (?) he was in a Wakefield blues rock band that did early Gallagher stuff (Taste era... bullfrog blues and sugar mama I do remember hearing) but I can't remember their name right now (it's my age etc), I remember him having a lovely old sunburst G&L that he played through a 2x15 and it sounded superb...he is/was also in the b-eagles but on drums...talented so-n-so!
8.
Wouldn't blame you on that one Andy. Only wish I could get on with P basses ( I seem incapable of getting a decent sound out of one to my damaged ears) - I'd probably be fighting you for it
cheers matey, (not-so-secretly hoping that blyn has been unsuccessful)
9. oo so tempted by this if it ain't sold to blyn
10.
I first jammed with her when she was 15. She was slightly precocious in those days but her over baring parents that came with her caused that. I remember doing 'sweet child of mine ' with her - just a kid and she played the arse off everyone. Not seen her in a couple of years when we were on the same bill in Skipton and she did a solo acoustic spot - very good she was too.
likewise, several jam nights at the 'tut n shive' playing 'sweet child of mine' etc, she was very good at the widdly stuff but being 15 didn't have the soul to go with it...I'd be interested to hear her now too :-) she had great promise! She spent a fair bit of time in the guitar shop I worked at too (trad music), with her dad looking all proud n wotnot
11. that does look like fun glwts matey!
12. These are truly special cabs glwts matey
13.
Yes I am. I think you should join the Bounder's Club.
is there a badge of some sort?
14. if you can't get an EAD foundation 212 (which is going to be the best one to get imho) then TKS do something that looks very similar, never tried one but they've got a very good rep and would be my second choice
15.
EAD Foundation 212. No contest and as there is one up for grabs and you can't get a new one anymore, job done.
absolutely without a doubt...THIS!
16.
Mine has turned me into a Jazz Bass man after decades of being a P Bass man. If that helps your GAS any..?
not in the least you sir are a bounder
17.
Just give in... it's inevitable...
I am weakening! trying Mart's limelight J has just about torn it for me if it had been a stack knob '60 remake in oly white I'd probably have torn it from his hands and legged it, so resonant and sweet to play, sounded way fatter than any j i've ever tried before!
18. Listen to the sound of the rest of the band and find your niche. pay especial attention to the drummer/percussionist and lock in.
19.
Like the idea - but the GK sounds great recorded DI and the Burman sounds superlative at gigs!!
you are in a pickle aren't you then! you just need to burMAN up and use your trolley
20. Burman for recording & GK for gigging, best of both worlds?
21. I've got a bass box that might fit if you want it? My '77 p arrived in it... Otherwise I'd try je james cycles cos music shops round here always try to sell me a box...
22. Great sounding amp, my p5000s is superb
