Thanks guys. I don't even have an amp yet, but i have got a Vox amPlug for bass! A poor substitute i know but will do for now

Hello all! So I've been wanting to learn to play bass for years and i'm finally taking the plunge - i turned 20 last month and thought i may as well give it a shot! Been lurking around the forums for the past week or so trying to soak up as much knowledge as possible to avoid amateur mistakes (although i know they'll come regardless!). Bought a Yamaha RBX 774 (black) off the 'Bay and it arrives on Monday so that's when my bass journey begins... Fingers crossed

Wow, I've been lurking in the shadows a bit since i stumbled upon BC a couple of weeks ago. I've been reading up on alot of stuff: tunings, strings, pickups, fretboard knowledge, fingering techniques etc. but have just finished reading through this thread and I have to say I'm inspired! Purchased my first bass on the Bay 3 days ago and it's being delivered on monday... I can't wait to get started! Now all i need is a half-decent avatar...
