Did I miss the thread for one in 2010? It would be understandable, since I managed to miss the entire event in 2009! Anything planned for now or in the new year? Would anyone like a hand planning anything now or in the new year?
Considering you're in York you'd be better off going to the Yorkshire one. Which was somewhere like Harrogate I think... someone will no doubt correct me. The North East one was up past Newcastle, a fairly insane drive if you're into that sort of thing Good fun though.

Played one years ago that had a neck like a tree trunk but sounded truly superb, then got it into my head that all warwicks were chubby. Until I played Warwickhunt's one, his had a nice slim neck ! Hmm... anyway.. loads of questions about Warwicks.... Which pickups are usually the better ? Barts ? MEC ? etc Which time frame has the slimmer necks ? Do the older ones need that wood treament lark ? Weren't they just waxed or something ?? What's the difference between Stage I and II ? I'm sure I'll think of more..... Ta

I think the signature models were all in the €4000-6000 bracket. Bargain !
-
Suppose I should add that the three last basses are TM Stevens' , Bootsy Collins' and Stuart Zender's signature basses.

People who buy the latest stuff then flog it 3 months later

The summer's been nice anyway and I've been doing a lot of running lately. Did the Redcar half marathon, a few 10Ks, got the Thirsk 10 mile coming up in 2 weeks. Tell you what though, I sweat a lot less on stage with the band. I recommend fitness to anyone that plays in a band !! -
Yep- Boss VF-1 running into a tiny BK Electronics class D power amp. Will be super portable once I get a cab I can actually carry.
See now, I quite like the idea of those teeny Class D racked power amps. What wattage is yours ? Got any info ?

You can get tiny rack mount power amps fairly cheaply these days, just wondered if anyone used a little preamp straight into a power amp. All opinions, advice and abuse welcome !

So basically you can add more than one effect but have them not influence each other ?
Although I can't comment on the other units - I would like to upgrade you from the Line6 XT to the X3 Live instead. - The XT only allows you to run one signal path at a time. ie: Bass> XT in>Pedal>Amp>Cab>Mic>effects> out Whereas the X3 allows you to run two totally seperate signal paths, for example: Bass> X3 in1>Synth Pedal>Bass Amp>Cab>Mic>Stereo chorus> out X3 in2>Distortion Pedal>Guitar Amp>Cab>Mic>stereo multitap delay> out In the above example I have given you a clean STEREO bass tone with a synth sound mixed with a distorted guitar tone with Stereo delay - both mixed at the left and right outputs. Kinda the sort of thing you'd be looking to do with that little Hysteria ditty they do ) - Use a distorted guitar amp patch with the bass, instead of 'pedal distortions' to give a more realistic 'distorted amp' tone. I am sure there are better units out there - but this is one I use as described.

Go for Boss GT-6B. Far better than 10.
What exactly makes it better ?
-
Bloody hell... where do I start ? I've narrowed it down to possibly 3 units... a Boss GT-10B, Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live and a Korg AX3000B. I'd prefer to get the one that has more suitable bass synth sounds, not really interested in masses of amp and cab modeling really. Anyway, I'd heard that this Chris Wolstenholme chap uses an Akai Deep Impact and possibly a Big Muff... but frankly the GT-10B is the same price as a Deep Impact ! As usual...all opinions and advice welcome

I asked a luthier about this not long ago.. Jim Fleetham (I think his name was) in Ripon. My Cort funkmachine had a gloss-finished painted neck that I didn't like, he simply said take some 1200 gauge wet and dry sandpaper and rub it down. Believe me, it's great now.

Anyone got one, love it ? Hate it ? Opinions please... I'm trying to control my GAS here !
I bought a sister sledge live CD, from a market stall, back in 96, its still on my ipod , and he,s on bass, absolutely brilliant player, very aggresive modern tone and great chops, i believe he played warwick basses (i think i read that somewhere) he was/is the band MD i particularly liked his bass solo where he played the theme to "blue peter" he did try to reinvent bernard edwards lines though. you cant reinvent the wheel as it were. Very good though - all the best - lee
That'll be the one I've got then ! I thought that was well strange that he took the songs & re-jigged the basslines. Weird. I actually thought it sounded like a MM Stingray.... goes to show how much I know !

Anyone know much about this guy ? All info gladly received
