unless you play your B right up to the 24th fret it wont matter too much i can see your problem..i wouldnt go back too far and risk a break better to play down the bottom end
I had a lucky escape recently. While using my Zoom b2.1u pedal, I left ac adaptor in the wall overnight. I managed to get it out in one piece wth suprisingly little impact. Trouble is, one of the screws has come loose so the plug is coming apart. Is it safe to cover plug with black masking tape,or do I have to fork out more dosh for another adaptor.? Wish they nmade a 1 fits all adaptor for all voltages Cheers
on ebay £5.99 free post i have one of these for my bddi..i use it on mains all the time if you do tape it...and it should be safe enough unless the 240v part is exposed...use insulating tape...electrical tape i mean masking tape doesnt insulate on ebay
The first bass I bought was an Ibanez RDGR. When I bought it I wasn't thinking about the bridge. Turns out I can't figure out where to put the string now while stringing it, except hooking it under the saddle, which is likely just to break the saddle. Any help?
looks a bit fiddly...arent there holes to anchor the existing strings
-
for me different strings are flats rounds half rounds coateds nickels stainless... beyond that apart from the gauge and core parameters find most makes fit in just as well as any other having tried a few i have settled on TI rounds and jazz and elixir for a good lasting string with a played in feel out of the packet

with organic materials like wood you cant expect complete perfection but with mechanical processes and build i would expect very good detail and finish sound could however be an overall choice for the big ££ basses my shuker breathes good workmanship and sounds like it should...no better no worse ..than a 51P..its only got a s-d pup in it and passive...so there is the limitation the finish and common sense that has gone into the design is creditable...slightly more modern with the tuners and bridge and the flattish radius on the neck for the money a good and unique instrument...signed and no 1 of a series
Hello, I was trying to use 3 and 4 fingers in my right hand to pluck and was wondering, which way is the most effective way to play? Pinky, ring, middle, index or the other way round? Also, have you got any exercises to help me coordinate this with my left hand across strings?
i started with just the one...index and my thumb resting...believe this...on the top of the bass... a rick then i got the thumb down on the pup area and started to practice just 2 fingers eventually i got loosened up...a year or so and used 3 i dont or havent really found use for the pinkie....i dont slap
To clean, I use a rag with very hot water squeezed out well. Follow that with a dry rag. Works very well. If you have a really dirty bit and the hot water doesn't work, try saliva, de-ionised water or naptha (lighter fluid). To polish, any guitar polish is fine. I like the Gibson Hi-Gloss stuff.
BOOM!!
Compression won't cause a piece of aluminium too much duress - no more than the zinc most 'chunky' bridges and machine heads seem to be cast from - I really wouldn't worry too much. As for Airbus, these days a fair proportion of a commercial aircraft structure is made from Composites. I'm waiting for the first Carbon Fibre bridges and machines to appear (probably for ridiculous prices on Ebay, just like the Titanium bridge parts discussed on the forum a few months ago....). Oops, I'm just off to the patent office again
good idea...how about a cast iron bridge...its pretty dense and can be machined easily and cast to shape..

Through-body String Ferrules Falling Out
mrcrow replied to EssentialTension's topic in Repairs and Technical
If you go back to stringing though the body, file a gentle ramp where the string comes out from the body and over the bridge itself. Hopefully, this'll cure the string breakage problem.
mega good tip!! -
I have a couple of P bodies. I want a 5 string P. I know that there are all sorts of issues with wider bridges, routing for bigger pick ups etc etc. However, can anyone think of a good reason NOT to have a neck made that would be 5 string width but chamfered at the heel to fit into a 4 string pocket. The fingerboard would hang over each side of the neck pocket. I could just rout out the body, but I am not sure which body will work with the neck and I want to keep my options open. I am open to accusations that I have too much time on my hands.
the body sees the neck the neck sees the body the body holds the neck and the bridge and the pots etc the neck holds the strings..and connects with the bridge obvious change in bridge needed etc...but what piece of wood is destined for 4 or 5 string use the neck to body joint imho if you want to retain 4 for future is to cut the neck as you said...but only where it needs to be cut..reduced i dont think it will be easy but could look ok when done... how good are you with machine tools.. how about a narrow spaced 5 string...

How much do Shuker "standard" P basses cost these days?
mrcrow replied to tredders's topic in Bass Guitars
Just wondering what the price is of the standard Shuker P bass (and the JJB model) these days? I've had a look on the website and can't see anything. Ta Mark.
this 51P is ready for sale although its not a precision..jon has all the details..as new -
leo used an unvarnished/unpainted lump of breadboard and he got on ok with the precision marketing and as noted hiding inferior wood/ply is a feature when the spec says alder...it means alder...in the woods all the alder trees are browny tones etc paint is to...gild the lily

Beginner looking to buy first bass, appreciate views on a few models
mrcrow replied to Silverwolf's topic in Bass Guitars
Hi, looking to get my first bass guitar and wondering whether the following would be suitable for a complete beginner. I've no experience of playing guitars, but did learn to play keyboards for a couple of years when I was a youngster! I think I would be better off getting a second hand guitar, and after looking at a few online sites, am tempted by either a Yamaha (RBX374 or RB270), Ibanez SR300, or Cort Action. Is it a bad idea to get an active as your first guitar, and would you avoid any of the guitars I've shortlisted - cheers ? PS - did pop into two local Guitar stores but they only had one used bass each below £200
i am in that position as a newbie to lower priced models... i have been looking at new and found the vintage and ibanez models quite nicely put together yamaha have silly pickups on some models and i believe use their own hardware also in fact do ibanez a fender wannabe is the answer...so for my call its vintage -
my guess is nothing... i dont think finishes are applied for tonal values just poshness personally ...and i know its psychological...but a matt finished wood seems to me to make me want to produce good tone all the other finishes...including the jamerson sunburst...etc... are just colours of the rainbow
