1. that is worth a thousand words..had the sound off
2. i am now getting some pain in my right shoulder which i could put down to bass playing i have used some early morning warm up exercises and would use these prior to playing and after since the situation doesnt stop me playing...i treat it as minor
3.
I played at a wedding last Saturday. I haven't played this kind of gig for ages. The band was a soul/funk cover outfit, and we were due on at 8pm for the first dance. After the first song we continued the set, playing to nobody, as the food was being served. The second set was OK, but it was obvious people were just waiting for the disco to come back on. I must admit I was home before 12 with a hundred quid in my back pocket, but why do people bother with live bands at weddings? Is it just me?
i think they were listening...i would and do at receptions...at a concert you dont get the audience dancing and not paying attention to the performers think of it that way money for old rope
4. if you can get the socket out and it has some slack in the wires... put the cable into the socket and watch what happens the socket should have a prong pointing inwards to hold the cable... as explained earlier this can be slightly bent inwards till it makes good spring contact if its past its best or fractured etc replace the jack socket some sockets can be difficult to extract and on your yamaha you may have to go inside the electrics compartment to disconnect it check this link for similar problem loose yamaha socket
5.
if you changed your pickups, machine heads, strings, bridge and neck to like good quality gear would you have a good bass ? just thought this and wondered if it was true because i thing it is and northway does not.
if you buy all that stuff as fitted as original on a bass...would you then think about swapping out stuff i think its a serious illness to start blaming the tools get down to some real work and practice i bet a really good player could make your bass sound better
6. sustain if good can obviate the need for compressive effects i dont play a note for more than one bar..but like it to stay full for that period sustain on uprights are bowed but i prefer the shorter note or tapering sustain it never becomes a neccesity in most of the music i play but rhythm is
7. i have used s-d vintage P and 51 P pups they are clean and gave no problems i do however favour barts for fuller tone
8.
right - here's the score. played the wettest gig i ever a few weeks ago in wales, and all my equipment survived, except for my boss bass chorus - it no longer works properly when powered by a wall wart (sound is distorted and very quiet). now, i'd like to get the back off to check it's not something easy to fix, but one of the screws on the bassplate is frozen in - i've tried WD40, heating the head of the screw up with a soldering iron, but still no luck...and the screw's getting pretty stripped now. any good ideas before i give up and drill the offending screw out ?
i used to use a fine chisel and tap it round the edge in the appropriate direction...anti clockwise the closer you get to the edge the more torque you get what you are doing is jarring it out with little licks.. instead of a fine chisel a screwdriver head might do and go easy...mark
9. ric truss rods will flatten the bow...i have set mine really flat in the past...with normal gauge strings if you mean action....then the blacksmith style saddle assembly should go down or up far enough if you want real bridge adjustment swap out the thing for a badass II and to hell with the looks part
10. my garage charges £87 per hour just to drain oil and put in filters i guess a top craftsman doing labour as well may be just as much personally i would go for tone first
11. say honey do you think this will take off? only if you put some wings on it whaaaaaaaaaaa like those funny rickenbacker things shussshhh i think i see leo fender looking through the shades yah boo sucks...he's a loser
12.
Most gold plating on guitar hardware is actually gold (at least on anything half decent), but always in the form of a very thin flashing over the top of a heavier, tougher chrome plate - hence, if you go at it with an abrasive polish like brasso, you can easily polish right through the gold and bring out the chrome underneath, so +1 on the cleaning tip, meths shouldn't do any harm.
didnt really think gold would be used..and so thin sta-bright laquered brass is what i thought they might be
13. the wheel gets reinvented but seems cool to have some competition next will be the active eq pots a taster

16.
I was hoping, with upgraded pick ups and the gig bag to be close to the 400 mark.
thats a not bad price...there was a white one going for 450 some time ago bump
17.
Ooh no I much prefer the deep blacks! Thanks though!
my trousseau was black... do like that bass though...and the poles can be raised as i see it
18.
Swap the halves, or tap them with somthing metal and see if it sounds the same
this is a good test
19.
My Ibanez SR505 is starting to look very boring and i'm thinking about sanding it down and re-spraying it. It's got a brown mahogany body. Good idea or would it end badly if i tried to do this at home?! Thanks!!
pity..i like the understated class look of the mahogany
20. i use a waterless car cleaner....on my car of course but its really good on the wheels and takes off dirt really well...and gives a good shine try it on your metal parts...its in tesco etc and its turtle wax's car cleaner without water... i just said that... cheers also T cut will shine but not keep unlaquered brass shiny....you could shine the parts then use a car laquer spray the T cut then spray then T cut to get the smooth shine back good luck
21. bump for it awaiting ebay result soon
22. bump..awaiting ebay result soon
23.
Nuts! The missus has just expressed an interest in learning to play... so, off goes £100 for a new EB-0 (ever being the sensible type, the warranty settled the issue over SH). Bad timing. This one looks like a real 'character' bass - just like my '84 BCR Eagle, you're sure it's had some love, but it'll thrash! I think she might be a little too new to the game to be needing a back-up... but it's a cutey, alright!
that was a join me in the dark shot use spot metering next time
24.
Capacitors?
yes...erm capacitors
25. the usual set up is bow action intonation pup height relative to strings your D and G half may need setting up heightwise fret the last fret there should be 1/8 roughly between the bottom of the strings and the pup poles..slightly less is ok and the fender recommended is 6/64 i think the same settings for the A/E is 1/8" the P is the only pup to give ability to set the pups to the strings well
