1. the B is quite fat and may take some bending to get it to witness properly on the saddle i found my B saddle had to go quite a bit back take the string up to pitch and slightly push down on it just in front of the saddle...this will force a bend in the string around the saddle shape more and release a bit more straight string to vibrate in fact lengthening the actual useable string do it gently and dont try to push too hard eventually it will settle in and you may get it to intonate within the range of the saddles adjustment hope this helps
 2.
my mum had tea with the kinks.
brilliant, mark...did she get autographs
 3.
Ok I notice that £165 seems to be the popular price. We'll go with that. PS. all original hardware available if wanted,
cool..they are 229 at gak plus frieght new the black tuners give it a real lift though i guess you might be glasgow way?
 4.
That's one of the recent-ish RS/RSB series reissues, looks like it'll be a bolt-neck. On the whole modern Arias are damn good & very underrated basses. Jon.
thanks man it just looks my kind of understated bass wish i had the sale on my present one.. cheers
 5.
I think I managed to cook the cap in my 79/80's P bass whilst trying to solder it back on so need to get a replacement. Would one of the Sprague ones mentioned above do the job? I had a look on evil bay and there is a guy selling 1uf orange caps on there, but their rating is like double the Sprague ones? I'm not really looking to change the tone at all. Advice always welcome Ta
go to a local tv repair shop...they will have drawers of caps i like the green ones...0.047
 6.
Sigh. £12,000 worth of tuition fees and 3 years of higher education (1 remaining) and I can't even connect a quick-connect pickup cable the right way. I'm an idiot. Thanks very much for your help, sorry for the, er, cretiny!
how did you think i knew it could be connected the wrong way i have done it myself...
 7.
There's not much you can do yourself with a faulty pickup. The only thing it is practical to repair is if the thin coil wire has come adrift from the points where the thicker coated wire joins the pickup. Have a close look at where the coated wires join the pickup (there's usually a couple of big solder blobs there). Can you see the thin coil wire joining the solder ? Are the coated wires damaged where they join the pickup ? Sometimes resoldering these points will help.
yes check that first...how windings get broken is a mystery but the connections from the windings to the thicker wire is a possiblity and happens a lot where some strain is put on the wires as for the bridge...yes...fan out the wire end and it gets clamped down by the bridge and so earths it your meter reading jumping around may correspond to movement in those thicker wires wiggling away from the winding connection try to test without any movement in the meter or pup.... i have found on jazz pups also shorts between the outer poles and the windings due to a slight breakdown in the wire coatings leading to noise when touching the poles but the pup worked ok best of luck
 8.
Here's the reply I got from EMG: He says it doesn't work passively, but I get the same output with or without the battery. So I don't know what I'm meant to do :/
puzzling... did the pups come with the little connector to connect to the pup pins...like this if so have you connected it the wrong way round...i cant remember now if its able to be done that way if you got the wiring with the pup as shown then there was really no soldering to do ...so if you soldered i take it the parts were loose can you photograph the layout...or sketch it out what you have done finally...did you try another battery i had a battery connector where one wire came undone and couldnt see it do you have a meter to test continuity...big word...just tests each end of a series of joints that a current can pass
 9.
crow, what's the name of the burnham shop pls? I agree the vibration is strange - I got the pickups out easily enough expecting to find something vibrating against them - but there wasn't. I did try prying the pickups open, but they seemed to be sealed with some sort of gunk so gave up. GAS ftw!
GC music could it be your truss rod...is it tight
