1. Dood's Dingwall Combustion 5 is pretty close to ticking all your boxes. 45.5mm nut, 4.1kgs, a rather keen price and a bit of a looker...
2.
These are the ones: https://www.amazon.c...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1 https://www.amazon.c...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Thanks!
3.
I just asked him - there are no plans for it to go into production. He says there's not enough demand for the bigger, pricier heads. :-(
That's a pity. Great set of features. I suppose he's unlikely to consider a similar preamp arrangement with lower output power either...
4.
You can buy USB power packs and USB to 9v converters on Amazon. I spent £20 on a 16,000mAh power pack (which is knocking on 3 times the capacity of the old PedalTrain Volto) and £10 on the converter and it's been great. It was more a convenience thing for me - one less mains socket to find and lead to trip over, and quicker to set up/tear down. The only thing I found was that if there was no current draw then the power pack would power off, so if you're using a pedal that is truly off when it's off (if you see what I mean) or only draws a very small amount of power then you might have problems. I found a BDDI or VT Bass don't draw enough, but having a TU-3 in the chain is fine, presumably because it's buffered and the buffer's drawing enough power.
Do you have links to the stuff on amazon by any chance? I know I could search myself but it's always nice to have somebody's say so that a thing works rather than finding something random and discovering for yourself that it doesn't!
5. Hotness! Would love to try a Dingwall with a wenge neck at some point.
6. Status Energy, S3000 or Washburn Status would be my suggestion. You might get an abused S2000 for that money. Or there's a few Westones...
7.
After a fair old while without a fixed setup, here's my current, messy, and now largely DIY setup -
Come now, you can't say they're mostly DIY and not tell us what they all are!
8. It will be draining your other batteries too I bet, just slower... Thought of a power supply for your board? Cheaper in the long run. For the price of 2 sets of Duracells you could get a wee Harley Benton isolated supply...
9. Any idea if the Fortec 700T (the twin channel Ampeg/Fender mashup) that you showed pics of is likely to make production WoT? Interested to see a price on that one...
10. Pics?
11. That's a great bass for the money - I would have had a hard time passing that up myself!
12. SO MUCH WANT!!!
13. Well either you want a monophonic analogue octaver or you don't. The OC3 is all digital and sounds like it to my ears. Have a look on YouTube for OC2 clips, the OC50 sounds the same.
14. Mine's long gone I'm afraid... It sounds like an OC2 and, as I said, mine tracked REALLY well.
15. The Chord OC-50 is the cheapest octaver I've owned... Ironically it was also one of the best! Can be had for about £25 delivered brand new from Amazon. It's a clone of the OC2 with an additional switchable drive setting that adds a nice, useable synthy dirt sound. Also tracked reliably to a low G! If I ever need an octaver again that'll be the one I'll buy...
16. I really liked the Terrors I had (had 2 at different times). I would like another but I'd worry it would be too much vintage at once with the Barefaced 2x10.
17. Musikding sell a kit but it's a different format altogether: http://www.musikding...bass-preamp-kit Not a very pleasing format either...
18.
Once I've finished the build and confirmed that everything fits together as it should, I shall be making kits available. If anyone is interested, P.M. me.
Capital!
19. This looks like one of those projects Glowforge would have on their webshop! Awesome work! What laser cutter do you have, by the way? Been tempted by one of the cheapo chinese 30w ones as I enjoy tinkering...
20. Jeez, looking at Andy Baxter's pics this looks mighty... Wish I had the money... and didn't already have 2 precisions!!!
21. Now there's a good question! Just thinking out loud I would assume you can do without the capo. I believe the capo is just to remove the variable of nut height/slot depth, which is already taken care of with the zero fret. Interested to hear a more experienced take on this though...
22. And there was me all happy with my 3leaf Enabler.... This might be more me...
23.
Its been a long wait but its finally here (well will be Monday)
PHWOAR! Possibly the prettiest Dingwall I've ever seen...
24.
Not done one of these in a few years.
As one of my kid's books says: "Oh my gosh and golly"... Was just thinking that revalving either of those heads would probably cost about the same as buying the Laney combo sitting next to your rig!
25.
Be interesting to know how the bass plays strung as BEAD with the longer string length on the lower strings.
The speaking length of the string is no different and neither is the string tension so it will make no difference whatsoever...
