1. Did the tech list what needed done? These details may help your sale...
2. Played one of these at the Sadowsky shop a few years ago. Not at any volume, but the sound was UNREAL!
3.
OK so I can add the puma 900 to the list of amps that will fit on top on my pair when they arrive if I can't bring myself to live with the Glockenklang overhang...
Turning the cabs on their side not an option?

Little did I know that I'd wake up this morning and order all the bits to build 2 (count 'em - 2..) Meatball Clones... I'm more than a little concerned that it was a vero Meatball clone that killed all my pedal building enthusiasm a few years ago. But no half measures this time - pre-etched enclosures from Audio Disruption Devices in the USA (which started all this madness!) and Rissole v1.4 PCBs ordered from OSH Park. Can't wait!
5. Have to say I don't think the mint is bad at all... But parchment I'd like to see. I think white pickguards are a bit stark looking myself.
6. This is a timely thread. I developed tinnitus around September last year - I may have had a milder form earlier than that as I would occasionally hear the dreaded shriek I have now but it never lasted long. Since my nasty bout of sinusitis and rhinitis in September it's been constant. I was at a 3 month checkup yesterday and I'm glad to say the sinuses are much better, but the tinnitus may be here to stay. I was concerned about how bad my hearing had become so the consultant had it tested yesterday. Sure enough there's a MAJOR drop off just above 2khz with the right ear a little worse than the left at higher frequencies, but the tinnitus is loud and clear in both ears at a significantly higher frequency than 2khz. Having said all that I've found the tinnitus easier to manage than I first expected. For a few weeks it literally was driving me round the bend. Irritable would hardly describe it. My wife asked me quite seriously if I'd thought about doing something stupid... But I've found that background noise helps me ignore it - it's always there, but it can be ignored like you ignore any other constant noise. The wife's snoring is therefore proving very useful at night, ahem...
7.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Uber is the top end range and Graft is the entry level range; which one is yours?? Apologies if I have got my names mixed up!
Alan likes to mix up his naming once in a while. E.g. there is no "graft" range any more, just "standard", but towards the end of the graft run he did a few "uber grafts"... Not sure what the spec was on these, but his pages are very informative on all of the basses he has made in recent times.
8. All us Norn Iron lads (and lasses if there are any!) should get a wee bass bash sorted out one of these days...
9.
I have thought about this but the 212 is great but still quite heavy so if I get another I could prob get a 4x10 as a single option instead. Plus they are still 500pounds ish new.
I'd be tempted to keep the Terror. Brilliant amps. I will own another one day. If it were me I'd swap the 212 for the new barefaced 4x10 and be happy. Slightly lighter than your current cab (especially with the cloth grill).
10. Best bit of advice a Ballymena man can give you? Lock away your wallet... NOW!!! Good to see you here Stuart!
11. What about these from same place as above? http://www.packability.co.uk/shockwatch-clips-single-tube
12. I've toyed with the idea of adding a One10 and a little 2 Ohm capable head like the Genz Mag. or Mesa D800 to the fold... Or going for another Two10... Or dumping the Two10 idea all together and going full bore for a Four10. So many cool options Alex has given us!!!
13.
Plus the amp in a case with the cables etc, and the (lightweight..?) bass... It all adds up, you know. It all seems to stem from this bass-specific need to have a 'one-trip' rig. I have a rug, a drum throne, three cymbal-drum stands, a pedal vanity case, five soft flight cases and a cymbal flight case to load in and out. Do I do that in one foul swoop..? The heck I do..! You've chosen well to go for bass. Could've gone for piccolo, though; even less to haul...
I was about to come back at you with harmonica... But I was recently at a blues gig where the harmonica player used a vintage Fender Tweed tube amp that took 2 hefty guys to carry it up the stairs in its flight case...
14.
No point giving yourself a hernia carrying 13kg when you can carry 7kg - if that's all that's needed.
Hernia?! 13kg?! What are men made of nowadays! Tsk, tsk, tsk...
15. OK, the Orange isn't versatile... But it's one trick is SO good that I don't think it needs to be! I used mine on everything from wedding gigs with a Jazz bass to metal gigs with a Dingwall. Sounded great EVERYWHERE! Ridiculously loud and the gain control doesn't need to be in distortion land to get that loud. I keep saying I'll buy another, but I'm not gigging at the minute. I think the ideal rig for me would be a terror and the new barefaced 4x10...
16.
Ha. Here it is in its full sofa shot glory:
Wow... Just... Wow...
17.
I thought I'd join the fun and post my pedalboard, I think it's pretty straight forward, I don't use many effects on cover songs, but I've been involved in an originals band recently so I've been experimenting with effects... I'm impressed with the Polytune Clip, it's the most recent addition to my toolkit. I'm also toying with moving the Pandora stomp to be within the effects loop as I only use it for reverbs, chorus and delays.
How do you find the dipthonizer on bass? Madbean pcb?
18. None, none and no to be frank. There's no standard action or intonation adjustment, although if you're sticking with stock strings the action is pretty irrelevant really. The build quality of some U-basses leaves a lot to be desired. There are reports that quite a few have the bridges set slightly off from where they should be so your intonation is never going to be right. Mine is off just enough to be annoying. On my particular model the bridge saddle has the pickup bonded to it so you couldn't do the old sand down the bottom of the saddle trick to lower the action even if you wanted to. Also rules out changing the saddle without major surgery. Also there's a known issue with the pickup bonding in that the bonding material doesn't leave a flat surface to make contact with the bottom of the saddle channel so you can get dead strings (usually the G or E). The UK distributors fix is to loosen the strings and roll the saddle back, away from the neck just a little so the pickup makes better contact. It works, but again has made my intonation worse. There may be good examples of them out there somewhere but mine isn't one of them! To be honest I bought a Deko Harley Benton Uke bass for £40 and it's every bit as good as my Kala so I'd advise you to save your cash and do the same or look at one of the alternatives like the Short Bass One or the like... I'd sell my Kala except it was bought to me as a birthday present... If you're set on a Kala, try before you buy and be super critical - keep all these things in mind while you're doing it. Initially I was really taken with the whole Uke bass idea, but the longer time has gone on the more annoyed I get by the stupid problems on an instrument of that price.
19. I think the Lakland edges it for comfort - the Lakland neck is awesome. The Sire wins in every other department for me. I've owned 3 Lakland 5 strings, 55-64, 55-02 dlx, 55-01 NTMB and I'd take the Sire over any of them.
20. There's an A/B on youtube between the Ampeg DI (identical valve circuit to the Khan) and REDDI if that helps. I preferred the sound of the Ampeg myself!
21. Not to be a pedant but Michael Rhodes is playing bass for Bonamassa these days...
22. Gobsmacked this is still here! I dropped round with another local Basschatter to try the bass just to see if ACG were for me and bought it on the spot...
23.
This COG is most excellent indeed. Trying to sell everything I have Dan.
Don't, it's in the post to me already! If it doesn't work out I'll give you a shout.
