Ah, I see. Took you up all wrong. Do you have a schematic?
http://revolutiondeux.blogspot.co.uk/2008/05/wanna-build-timmy-overdrive.html It's designed by a guy called Paul Cochrane.
Oh I know the pedal, just never heard of it being used on bass that often. Did you make a straight up Timmy or mod it for bass?
Kind of. The BB has an active 2 band Baxandall EQ after the gain stage (which is suspiciously similar to the Tube Screamer…) - the Timmy EQ is a cut only EQ, so it's only 1 opamp (JRC4558) in the pedal. The bass cut is before the drive section and the treble cut is after it.
Interesting. Never really looked at the Timmy... Must investigate!
  5. My current project is tuned Drop-A just because the guitar player has got himself a new 7 string, much to my annoyance, so that's useful info Doomed. A Big Twin 2 (rather than a Four10 or a second Two10) may be the best purchase if it ever gets off the ground. Has anyone tried it next to an Ampeg fridge? Be interested to see how it faired there!
  6.
Here's a picture of mine at practice last weekend, it's not very big , volume in spades not as crushingly low end as the Dubster but the speakers will no doubt loosen up a bit after a few hours.
Exactly the setup I would go with right there... How's the Terror/Four10 combination?
Just finished putting together a modified Tube Screamer with a 2 band EQ instead of the tone control. It does magical things to the DHA tube overdrive unit. Very happy with it.
BB Preamp-a-like?
  8. I work in electronics and I never knew such a thing existed, which means there aren't many made, which means ANY you find will be expensive (economies of scale and all that jazz). €13 sounds reasonable for such a niche component. Count Bassy makes a good point. Are you looking for a stutter effect or an on-off switch? Pots with a DPDT switch integrated are pretty cheap in comparison...
  9. Did the tech list what needed done? These details may help your sale...
  10. Played one of these at the Sadowsky shop a few years ago. Not at any volume, but the sound was UNREAL!
  11.
OK so I can add the puma 900 to the list of amps that will fit on top on my pair when they arrive if I can't bring myself to live with the Glockenklang overhang...
Turning the cabs on their side not an option?

Little did I know that I'd wake up this morning and order all the bits to build 2 (count 'em - 2..) Meatball Clones... I'm more than a little concerned that it was a vero Meatball clone that killed all my pedal building enthusiasm a few years ago. But no half measures this time - pre-etched enclosures from Audio Disruption Devices in the USA (which started all this madness!) and Rissole v1.4 PCBs ordered from OSH Park. Can't wait!
  13. Have to say I don't think the mint is bad at all... But parchment I'd like to see. I think white pickguards are a bit stark looking myself.
  14. This is a timely thread. I developed tinnitus around September last year - I may have had a milder form earlier than that as I would occasionally hear the dreaded shriek I have now but it never lasted long. Since my nasty bout of sinusitis and rhinitis in September it's been constant. I was at a 3 month checkup yesterday and I'm glad to say the sinuses are much better, but the tinnitus may be here to stay. I was concerned about how bad my hearing had become so the consultant had it tested yesterday. Sure enough there's a MAJOR drop off just above 2khz with the right ear a little worse than the left at higher frequencies, but the tinnitus is loud and clear in both ears at a significantly higher frequency than 2khz. Having said all that I've found the tinnitus easier to manage than I first expected. For a few weeks it literally was driving me round the bend. Irritable would hardly describe it. My wife asked me quite seriously if I'd thought about doing something stupid... But I've found that background noise helps me ignore it - it's always there, but it can be ignored like you ignore any other constant noise. The wife's snoring is therefore proving very useful at night, ahem...
  15.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but Uber is the top end range and Graft is the entry level range; which one is yours?? Apologies if I have got my names mixed up!
Alan likes to mix up his naming once in a while. E.g. there is no "graft" range any more, just "standard", but towards the end of the graft run he did a few "uber grafts"... Not sure what the spec was on these, but his pages are very informative on all of the basses he has made in recent times.
  16. That's a magnificent beast...
  17. All us Norn Iron lads (and lasses if there are any!) should get a wee bass bash sorted out one of these days...
  18.
I have thought about this but the 212 is great but still quite heavy so if I get another I could prob get a 4x10 as a single option instead. Plus they are still 500pounds ish new.
I'd be tempted to keep the Terror. Brilliant amps. I will own another one day. If it were me I'd swap the 212 for the new barefaced 4x10 and be happy. Slightly lighter than your current cab (especially with the cloth grill).
  19. Best bit of advice a Ballymena man can give you? Lock away your wallet... NOW!!! Good to see you here Stuart!
  20. What about these from same place as above? http://www.packability.co.uk/shockwatch-clips-single-tube
  21. I've toyed with the idea of adding a One10 and a little 2 Ohm capable head like the Genz Mag. or Mesa D800 to the fold... Or going for another Two10... Or dumping the Two10 idea all together and going full bore for a Four10. So many cool options Alex has given us!!!
  22.
Plus the amp in a case with the cables etc, and the (lightweight..?) bass... It all adds up, you know. It all seems to stem from this bass-specific need to have a 'one-trip' rig. I have a rug, a drum throne, three cymbal-drum stands, a pedal vanity case, five soft flight cases and a cymbal flight case to load in and out. Do I do that in one foul swoop..? The heck I do..! You've chosen well to go for bass. Could've gone for piccolo, though; even less to haul...
I was about to come back at you with harmonica... But I was recently at a blues gig where the harmonica player used a vintage Fender Tweed tube amp that took 2 hefty guys to carry it up the stairs in its flight case...
  23.
No point giving yourself a hernia carrying 13kg when you can carry 7kg - if that's all that's needed.
Hernia?! 13kg?! What are men made of nowadays! Tsk, tsk, tsk...
