  1. Currently planning out an ampless setup. Stomp XL on its way. Currently thinking "Bass > HX Stomp XL (with Tech21 dUg in loop 1, Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon in loop 2 with presets MIDI controlled) > PA/IEM (and possibly an amp running a homemade shaker platform)". I may go "Bass > HX Stomp XL (with Tech21 dUg in loop 1, DIY TS-50 preamp in loop 2) > Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon (with presets MIDI controlled) > PA/IEM/etc." depending how the TS-50 and MIDI control of the Darkglass turns out. I've too many amps knocking around so there may be a cull there and just replace the lot with something FRFR, probably QSC. For personal practice I'm just using a single studio monitor at the minute and it sounds excellent.
  2. Certainly looks like the best balance of cost v function for what I'm looking for... Sizeable piece of hardware though!
  3. I've been using a Mooer L6 for loop switching for a few months and it's a great bit of kit, but I've recently got my hands on a Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon and would like to start switching presets on it along with other pedals so I'm looking for suggestions for a pedal switcher with MIDI capability. Only used a max of 4 loops so far so not looking anything massive. I'm already aware of the Boss ES-5, but I'm not looking to spend 400 quid, thank you very much!
  4. Since Dan Lakin has been co-designing their recent offerings surely they could come up with something a bit better than this?
  5. £1.8k. Never popped that limit and don't intend to unless I found "the one"...
  6. Mustang sounding great!
  7. I built a clone of the Fat General (Pedalpcb General Tso) and it knocked a Cali76 CB off my board - like you I prefer something simple, set and forget, as far as compressors go. The CB is an AWESOME pedal, but the Tso could get the sound and, more importantly, the response I was looking for from a compressor with fewer controls, and allow me to free up a fair wedge of dough for other pedal projects.
  8. Your description of your ideal compressor describes the ThorpyFX Fat General to a T... Just to muddy the waters a bit Ander!
  9. With all the short scale love going around I'd love to see a U7/U9/U10 version with roasted neck, etc.
  10. I think it really depends on condition and originality. You could try giving Andy Baxter a call for advice - his website advertises that he offers free appraisals.
  11. An iPad/laptop running a synth plugin and a second hand behringer FCB1010 that you can program to act like a keyboard would be the cheapest option I can think of... and learn how to tap dance! I don't think you'd get very close with the pedals you're looking at to be honest. You'd have to play the keyboard parts instead of the bassline for a start...
  12. Don't think I've ever had so many views on an item and not a single nibble... Wrong time of the year I suppose!
  13. How are you liking the v2 Sansamp now you've lived with it for a while Dan?
  14. Probably my most used pedal over the past 6 months, but I've been swayed by an Alpha Omega Photon which will cover the same ground as I always used this with a drive pedal in front of it (although there's absolutely no need really, just preference!). Bluetooth audio streaming, app control for power amp and speaker emulation and 5 accessible slots for loaded amp/speaker emulation combinations, EQ, Noise Suppression, DI output, Tuner function and USB recording interface. Very handy little tool. There's a tiny mark on the rightmost fader pad (not really sure what they're called! The black vertical touch pad!) but doesn't affect functionality. Pedal is boxed with all the trimmings. £165 shipped in the UK if you please! Trade for a Sansamp BDDI v2 or towards a dUg DP-3X (again!), but offer what you've got!
  15. Vigier make some of the best basses on the planet IMHO. I'm kind of sad that I've just discovered them myself in the last 18 months and now Patrice is retiring!
  16. I had to read it a few times. Theres piezos in the bridge.
  17. Was getting all excited over a 300 quid long service award from work. What to buy? Liked the look of the Origin Bassrig SV... Maybe go towards an Alpha Omega Photon...

I got similar for my 30 years of service so got my shopping with the vouchers and then spent the money I would ordinarily have used at the supermarket to get the gift that I wanted.

Lozz196 has solved that little conundrum nicely. Well played!

    DIY Effects

Pedalparts.co.uk or Musikding.de Musikding has a MASSIVE range, just be careful that not all their kits include the PCB, which needs to be added to the order separately.
  19. A lot of apples/oranges comparisons going on here!
