1. Yeah, same thing has been going on for a few years it seems...
 2. Can't help but think that the phase switch is a waste of panel space. Surely an internal switch could have been used for that and added a further feature to the front panel. Don't want to harp on about it, but a switchable high pass filter for the drive channel perhaps?! The ability to keep the clean channel and compression active and defeat the drive channel would have been useful too... Both would have reflected how Billy Sheehan actually uses his original signature drive pedal...
 3. http://s38.photobuck...-80_3.jpg.html] Anyone know anything? Edit: Seems I've answered my own question.... https://youtu.be/Jo1SMTkXmDQ Edit 2: 2 footswitches are On/Off and Boost (level of boost adjustable by internal trim pot). 2nd toggle switch is for phase inversion. Drive chip is socketed so you can change it out. Stupid idea for the hamfisted among us.... More than surprised that they didn't incorporate a high pass filter on the drive channel like Billy does in his own setup...
 4. Yup. I have one of her solo albums in the house somewhere. Must dig it out...
 5. I had a ramp on my Shuker 6. It does what it says on the tin without doubt. There's a youtube video (search for Gary Willis ramp - 2 videos) of Gary Willis making a bass ramp for one of his students (to go on a Fender MM jazz bass). Looked easy enough! Matching the radius of the neck is essential, and the most difficult part I would think. Fitted with double sided tape so easily removable.
 6. [s]Price drop: £150[/s] Final price drop: £130 plus postage I have come to the realisation that I just don't use these type of effects enough to warrant having so much money tied up in them! Here is a custom T65 Octave and Mastotron Fuzz, termed "The Terminator" that Tom built for me. It sounds absolutely disgustingly wonderful! Features on Tom's custom page here: http://www.cogeffects.co.uk/custom.php The 2 effects can be run series or parallel (selectable by rotary "mode" switch) and there are internal trim pots to set the levels in this mode. I ALWAYS used it series and in the effects loop of my 3leaf GR2. Great synthy sounds abounded... Never been stomped on in anger, never even had velcro applied to the bottom (doesn't have rubber feet either, in anticipation of the velcro that never appeared!). North facing jacks (input, output and dc) and it's a 1590xx enclosure (144mm x 119mm). Shipping in UK included. 7.
My new Sire M7 5 string.
Lovely!
 8.
Yeah i read that, test day 2moro so fingers crossed, it was the 5 year warranty that clinched it, they do seem good value! Im going to fix my 7 pro with a new Rev H board so ill either sell it or keep it as a spare............. we shall see!
Where are you getting the 5 year warranty?
 9. Just bought my YOB bass (Yamaha Pulsar) off Chris. Marvellous to deal with as usual! Nuff said!
 10. De Gier offer relicing on their 5 strings, although they are a twist on the Fender design so might not be exactly what you want. Cracking looking basses though!
 11. Do you have a link to the ebay seller you bought the body from?
 12.
But it's only the preamp section that has changed, the drive circuit is unaltered so a change, or improvement as you put it , was always bizarrely ambitious!
Maybe, but since these seem to be the closest thing there is to a holy grail of bass distortion I'm wondering what it is I'm missing...
 13. Beautiful!
 14. Again disregarding the valve (really - it's not the be all and end all!), the Ashdown lomenzo hyperdrive has what is, in effect, a 3 way crossover in it where only the midrange frequencies are overdriven/distorted. The center frequency is variable between 200Hz and 2.2khz. The Q is switchable between 1/2 or 1 Octave. This is then blended back with the clean signal. This is similar to the EBS pedal except the EBS has a variable frequency scoop, where the Ashdown has the opposite. My favourite overdrive for bass. Just a pity it's so BIG!
 15.
Given that you don't like the B*K drive sound, what did you expect?
An improvement...
 16.
Anyone see this? I never use distortion personally but the EQ section on this thing sounds very good for those who like a clean tone.
The clean stuff all sounded great (actually VERY useful sounding preamp pedal!)... then the distortion went on and messed it all up! Yuk...
 17.
You know when you have finally got everything set up and sounding great, there's always the fear of kicking the pedals by mistake and knocking those carefully crafted settings to oblivion? No? Just me then.. Well, I'm using a graphic EQ pedal to sculpt a high pass signal before it hits my drive pedals. What I would like to do is lock the sliders in place so they can't be adjusted or kicked. I've even thought about replacing all the sliders (possibly 10K ohm type) with preset pots instead! Drastic surgery but do-able. Or, maybe some sort of lid that can be fixed over the top of the panel where the sliders are. I've even tried using boost pedals and mini pedals instead of the EQ but nothing seems to sound right. The cheapy EQ pedal just works and the sound is just awesome! I call upon the wealth of knowledge here on BC to see if there is another solution!
As a matter of interest what is your current drive setup Dood? Have you tried using something like the rolls tiny crossover like Mr. Sheehan uses in the dirty loop of his signature pedal?
 18.
I currently have a Nate Mendel P that is working great for me - I've replaced the Seymour Duncan QP's for Aguilar 60s pickups, and replaced the badass II with a BBOT vintage style fender bridge. Strung up with flats it's great for that dead, thumpy sound, but I still miss having the sheen of rounds for pick playing and slapping .. What does everyone think about having two of the "same" type of bass? How do you justify it to yourself that you 'need' another?
Yeah... Don't see a problem with it based on what you've already said. I have Beedster's 70's Yamaha Pulsar incoming and other than being maple/ash (as opposed to my current rosewood/alder p) it's my year of birth bass I've been keeping an eye for for while and wanted before my 40th next year...
 19. bump for a few cheap noise makers!
That's more like it all the ones I could find yesterday had a massive great humbucker in the bridge position.... I'd have to order a custom one though because that has a tort pickguard and tort makes me feel sick...
Scroll down that page, there's a few to choose from. If memory serves I think Adrian can change out pickguards too! I had planned on sneaking a Maruszczyk into the collection before the end of the year, but then Beedster waved a YOB Yamaha about the place and now it's sneaking in instead!!! EDIT: One of these with 33" scale was the plan: http://www.public-peace.de/index.php/bass-guitars/maruszczyk/jake/4-string/1119-jake-4p-human-nature-classic140230
ah fair enough I was just looking through the models on their website the other day and couldn't see a standard P.
http://www.public-peace.de/index.php/bass-guitars/maruszczyk/jake/4-string
Going a bit further afield, I've been tempted by Maruszczyk as they seem to represent astonishing value for a custom build, but they don't seem to offer a straight P.
I think Adrian will build you whatever you want!
 23.
Just ordered a soul food.
Me too...
 24. A few pedals not getting used. Prices include UK delivery. Trade-wise I'd be interested in a Zoom MS60B or some sort of overdrive pedal of a different flavour, but try me. Cash either way. [s]EHX Octave Multiplexer - nice wee Octave pedal. Cheap as chips. Does a nice dirty synthy sound with the high and low filters. £35.[/s] Withdrawn [s]EHX Bass Big Muff - does what Muffs do! £35.[/s] Sold [s]EHX Glove. Primarily guitar, but works great for bass, just not the flavour of drive I'm after. Supposedly an OCD with more low end and built in 18v converter. £30.[/s] Sold [s]VFE Triumvirate. Recent addition in an attempt to replace my beloved Ashdown J-Lo to save some room on my little board, but it doesn't quite do what I want so I'm moving it on to continue the search! £50[/s]. Sold. 25.
I was mulling that yammie over, that's the second vintage yammie of yours i've missed, he who hesitates is lost! never mind good luck with the rest of the sales Chris
I missed the first too... Made sure I didn't miss the second! YOB bass coming in!
