1. Took a notion to set up a wee home studio so bought a 2011 mac mini on the cheap. Nowt wrong with it as standard for what I'm likely to be doing, but come black Friday I got 16gb ram, 240gb ssd and ezmix2... Already have ez drummer with drum kit from he'll from my last attempt at a home studio. Probably should have got the rock kit in the sale too...
2. Oh my...
3. Wouldn't it be boring if we all liked the same things!
4.
I had a Streamliner and thought the low end was severely anaemic when compared to the heft of the Orange.
My feelings too. Tried a mate's Streamliner 600 a few years ago A/B fashion with my Terror 500 and the Terror ate it for breakfast - same cab, same room, same bass, etc.
5. Seen some woeful excrement in my time, but easily the worst was Cubinate. Dance beats with metal guitar and a "singer" who had nothing to say to the booing crowd except "We are the future c**ksuckers"... Where are they now i wonder... Said nobody ever!
6. Both fantastic looking instruments WoT! Health to enjoy!
7. I wouldn't use this either... But by God I'd enjoy sitting looking at it!
8.
These look like the real deal! What are your guys opinions on cataldo basses and how do they stack up? www.cataldobasses.com/jaebird I'm not throwing anyone's previous ACG feedback back in their face at all! I'm pretty set on the ACG Just wondering what your guys opinions were on the jaebird
That's an apples and oranges comparison you're asking for. ACG are entirely hand build with custom pickups, electronics and hardware... Cataldo look interesting for what they are but I'd lump them in with Limelight in that, to an extent, they're bitsas. Not that there is ANYTHING wrong with that (I've considered a JAEbird, a Limelight and ACG in the recent past - the ACG won and the wait is getting tougher!) just not the same craft involved. Just my humble opinion...
9. I have nothing to add except I like the look of this one! http://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-Arrival-Custom-20-Vintage-Sunburst-Electric-Bass-Guitar-4-Strings-Thunderbird-Bass-Guitar-from-Chinese/2031320100.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.1.uu2NiJ&ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_2_79_78_77_80,searchweb201644_5,searchweb201560_8
10. Interested in hearing responses to this too!
11.
Trigger pulled. 7lbs 7ozs of passive SAUCE. Come to Daddy, you strumpet!
Yummy!
12. If you want an actual bass pickup I think nordstrand do a drop-in replacement. Will be pricey and harder to get hold of than anything else mentioned here already though!
13.
Thanks for the T-16 love I'm really really proud of this one, simply cos I don't know if anyone else has done an analogue octave that small before! Personally I think it's just the best thing since sliced bread, but I may be a tad biased so lets wait and see how it stands the test of time! I'm going to try and get some more videos sorted, including one from Andy and hopefully Si too if he's game, but if anyone has any questions feel free to add them on here and I'll get back to you ASAP
Looks awesome Tom! Will be a big seller I think!
14.
It sounds good eh...... I like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cxV5O0_8HM&utm_source=Cog+Effects+Newsletter&utm_campaign=8285274ce5-T16_Release11_2_2015&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_a762863ba2-8285274ce5-88119385&ct=t%28T16_Release11_2_2015%29&mc_cid=8285274ce5&mc_eid=030df6b76b
I'd love to hear this pedal (Any pedal actually) demoed by somebody else...
15. I've wanted one of these forever... Alas my cash is committed elsewhere. GLWTS!
16.
I may be doing a bit of Maruszczyk-shaped trugger-pulling in the next couple of days. We'll see...
Now, now. You know the rules. We need details!
17.
Yes I've been contemplating this. I may get some of those little round coloured stickers you can get from stationary shops to save actually painting something in the indent. Something needs to be done though.
Black non-permanent marker was what an old band mate of mine used. Not like the indent ever saw much action so wearing off wasn't an issue except when he wanted to clean it off to sell and it came right of with a cotton bud and some household cleaner of some description.
18.
Why buy something without even trying it first?
Because they aren't stocked anywhere in the UK...
19. I don't usually do active basses but had no issues with mine. I agree the controls do protrude a bit! For the price I'll not be doing too much complaining!
20.
Just landed myself a GR2...instantly useable Sounds' Ooze from this filter...it appears to have a lot more sound options...than The V2 proton' ive had on my board for over a year...time for a change.
Good choice! About the best filter out there in my (more limited than some people's) experience! Having said that I still think of the Moog occasionally!
21.
Having done a bit more basic research on this, it looks like the CTM 15 does have a single 12ax7 as a preamp. Then two valves for the power section.
Did you read the rest of the thread, or look at the pics linked? It DOES NOT have a valve preamp. It has a valve power section and a valve phase inverter. From the pictures there are clearly multiple opamps and (shock horror) transistors in the preamp (2 opamps and 4 transistors from a cursory glance)...
22. Fender Roscoe Beck 5 is pretty meaty...
23.
Having something custom built is likely to be too expensive and will probably take a few months to build too. I'm looking for something that will keep me going until I have surgery. Then I'll go back to my regular basses. So a custom build won't meet either of those criteria.
Understandable! How about a violin bass? Can't be more than 5lbs?
24. I have the kala and the HB version (a b-stock deko - cost £40 delivered). Neither will satisfy the itch for an actual bass. While I wouldn't call them toys, they're... A different instrument let's say. Alan at ACG was looking into lightweight designs. I think he was getting into the 5lb ballpark. Give him a yell.
