1. It's a Fender Deluxe P Bass Special. Again, not sure on value, but I'd guess £325/£350. The Ibanez is ALL original. Condition is excellent for its age - a little bit of lacquer loss on the top of the fretboard, but other than that and dire need of new strings and a setup, it's pretty minty! If the trade goes ahead I might just keep it... Except I've also just bought an ATK...
2. Not usually a fan of asking this sort of question, but I'm at a loss myself! Been offered an Ibanez MC800 (1979 single pickup Musician - looks very like this one but without the questionable control plate: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/70251-fs-ibanez-musician-1978/ ) in trade for one of my basses, but I've no idea what the bass would fetch on the market, which is where it would be going (it's where the bass I would be trading for it would have been going, and possibly still will!). Great bass in pretty incredible condition for its age, but not really my thing. Anyone have any idea (other than the value in the link above)?
3. Negative feedback...
4.
How's yours going, by the way..?
Still waiting for the opportunity for me to man up myself! Haven't played with a band in over a year... I've once again parted with my lightweight amp of choice (terror bass) in favour of some REAL valvey goodness. Had intended on working on it myself, but I've so little time I might pass it to a friend to do it for me so at least it's ready when the time comes. As of last week I'm sans cab but should have a new barefaced 2x10 coming in the next few weeks.
5. Man up and keep the Burman!
6. This one? http://www.acguitars.co.uk/acg_admin/wordpress/portfolio/0088-tefano-4-string/
7.
Yeah, I know but they don't do the specific details I want like the finish and the rounded off edges.
You're looking at a custom build then I'm afraid. Hope you've got deep pockets! Another alternative is contact the original bass's seller on eBay, find out who bought it and offer to buy it off them for more than they paid...
8. Warmoth do an iceman body, but the body alone would cost more than that bass...
9. Cop shoot cop? Probably long gone, but remember seeing them live years ago. 2 basses.
10. Very nice! Always liked Nino's basses.
11. I can imagine - a friend has had a refin'd '64 p bass. He's owned it since 68. It's just about the best thing I've ever layed hands on... Really like the 1200, but I think your 2024 is sex on a stick. It'd probably be my choice of the 2 if I had the beer coupons available...
12. 2 cracking Yamahas you have mate. I'd find it difficult to choose between them myself!
13. Damn! My perfect YOB bass and I'm potless...
14. And the 70's pickup spacing too, of course...
15.
Yes, with a mono cable in the fx loop it behaves as return only, so can be used as a secondary input. But as stated above, you'll have little control over the mix. FWIW, I leave the EBS pedal on all the time with an ABY pedal in the dirty loop. This way I can take advantage of the built in compression and anything in the clean loop, then kick the drive side in when needed with the ABY pedal.
The great man himself does something similar I believe. He also uses a Roles crossover in his dirty loop to return only 250-300hz and upwards from the dirty loop, also has another sig pedal in his CLEAN loop (chicken and egg?) to make it a little dirty too.
The final pedal that i have made is my "Iron Man" pedal, kind of got on a bit of a theme after the hulk pedal! This is one of the simpler ones that i have made and is a Civil war big muff with a couple of mods, one to make it more bass friendly and another to remove the mid scoop from it. This is a dark sounding fuzz and I'm still learning what sounds i can get out of it but so far it is pretty good if not a bit bass heavy!! These are all the pedals I've made so far, promised the girlfriend i won't make anymore for the time being! although I'm tempted by possibly a modified rat.. Live the artwork on this. Wish I had the time at the minute to get back building... Have a muff kit ready to go...
17. 9/10... Mostly guess work...
18.
Oooooh. Photos as soon as she lands please!
Will do sir, though I'd imagine it'll look similar to their other cabs!
19. There are none in the wild yet... Yours truelly is due to receive the first one some time this month...
20. Good choice. Nice basses those.
21. Keep an eye on the other items for sale section here. Buy replacement pickups used and if they don't suit you, sell them again.
22. For what it's worth if I was to get a Limelight bass I'd insist on the rear-of-headstock signature being done on the front instead. Who gives a fiddlers anyway...
23. Further update - Marks says he CAN get an extra pickup installed. Backup plan of LPB or Burgundy Mist (with matching headstock of course!) might come in to play if I go ahead, as sunburst is a bit of a problem... Also inquired about early 50s style p bass builds and they're possible too.
24. Same boat here! If I hadn't just bought a Graft Recurve 5 this thread would already be closed...
