Entirely agree! Just playing devil's advocate. The more I look at these the more interested I become. I've wanted a Fender Roadworn P for a while after having a positive experience with the Jazz version, but think I'd rather have one of these. Especially if they'd be up for putting a second p pickup nearer the bridge like ezbass did with his Roadworn a few years back...
So they won't route for extra pickups and would have to source a sunburst body from somewhere as they don't spray 'burst finishes... Must really want one, cos now I'm disappointed!!! Sunburst isn't the end of the world, and I suppose I could bust out my dad's router and do the bridge pickup myself if it came to it... Still mighty interested!

I have to say if I was buying a soldering iron for this purpose I'd buy a gas powered one like the portasol pro piezo. More powerful and controllable than any electric iron I've used costing less than £200. I'm an electronic engineer by trade too and I've used pretty much everything, Weller, Antex, Metcal (have one of these on long term loan and it's splendid) - best I've used is the one our place has at the minute who's name escapes me. But I know it's north of £300. Gas irons are very handy bits of kit, just be careful which way the heater port (on the side near the tip) is pointed when working in tight spaces like a control cavity, near plastic parts or guitar finishes...
You may have to wait a little while for a reply - Mark's away until the 24th, so probably will have a backlog of emails...
Yes just got his 'out of office' reply!
-
I'm quite sure that could be arranged. My Jazz is being despatched on the 24th so I'm all agog and waiting with bated trousers. Review and sound files pending...
Excellent! I may go and crack an email off to discuss possibilities...
True again, but the back of the headstock will also have Mark's Limelight serial number written on it with a Sharpie, so it's all about what it looks like from the front in my humble opinion.
Entirely agree! Just playing devil's advocate. The more I look at these the more interested I become.
Hipshot do 'lollipop' tuners. The 'HB2 Lollypop', I believe.
Also true... But they'll have hipshot visibly stamped on them. Depends how precious you are about the relic idea I suppose!
-
He may have a problem getting the "lollipop" tuners too, to complete the look. They seem pretty rare...
But since they'll be reliced anyway you could grind the top edge of a clover leaf tuner down to get the look right. Someone put a link up here recently to someone doing just that.

No need to apologise - I made a cheeky bid and didn't think it would be anywhere near enough, but only got pipped by a fiver in the end! Listing only finished on 14th so your friend didn't have it long at all (convinced it's the same bass http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=111375383069&globalID=EBAY-GB&alt=web), but some basses just don't 'fit' you, and you just know it as soon as you pick them up! Health to enjoy - I'm sure it's a cracker!

These appeared in the '84 ESP catalogue - looked it up while researching the two that have been on eBay recently (this looks like one of them - marks on the lower bit look the same, missing knows, same flaming pattern, same neck pocket gap on treble side). Jealous - I should have bid a little higher on it! Really nice looking bass.

Not a comic book fan, but I like it!

Am I the only person that doesn't get the darkglass thing? I've owned the b3k, b7k and vintage and didn't warm to any of them... Something going on in the upper midrange of them all that I just couldn't get on with. Having said that I've changed the rest of my gear round so might try a b3k again one of these days...

I bought Merton's old ACG from Michael who, it turns out, lives less than 5 miles from my own door. A total gentleman who kindly allowed me to take the bass home to try in familiar surroundings, even though we'd never met before! He's a good'un!

Stunning... As we would say locally - Health to enjoy! -
I don't have the MS60B, although I am thinking of buying one! I was uninspired by any of the synth sounds I'd heard in demos. I wondered if I was to string octave, fuzz and envelope in a chain, perhaps with chorus, flange or phaser at the end, would it do a decent job? Worth a shot! If you try it please report back!

Auditioning Guitarists Tomorrow - Advice Required
Bigwan replied to Sean's topic in General Discussion
Only advice I can give is that they're auditioning you as much as you're auditioning them, so don't act like knobs... Having been in your position a few times I've had to rein in band members who seemed to forget we wanted certain auditionees to come back! Good luck! -
Gorgeous bass, cracking price, these Finns are brilliant GLWTS
Just agreed to buy your old Graft Recurve 5 last night or I'd be interested in this myself! Can't speak for the 4 string versions, but the 33" scale 5 string is LOVELY! This would be a bargain at twice the price!
It is indeed the 33" graft. The B is excellent for the 33" scale. I've played short scale basses where the E was awful and almost impossible to get anything other than flubalubalub from. For what I'm playing it just feels so nice with such little effort needed it's incredible. Pups are great for being passive, can't wait til my new one is ready but this will need to go to fund the final payment for it. Pics as follows in the sunshine for a change today.
This one is currently sat in my living room - Michael/bassman344 was kind enough to let me take it on trial with a view to buying it (and me supposed to be having a clear out!). I suspect he won't be getting it back, and if my 2 year old would ever go to sleep I could confirm it for sure!

Those knurled sections shouldn't be protruding above the body surface. Perhaps look at pressing them in again and securing them with some sort of adhesive. I'd epoxy them in if it was mine. I was trying to flatten out the neck on one of my basses the other day in preparation for levelling the frets and it took at least a full turn and a half on the trussrod so 2 1/4 turns over a week sounds like it could take a bit more. Try assisting the neck by pulling it in to back bow while adjusting the rod.

Anyone done much research into the Focusrite iTrack Dock? Looks pretty nice, but definitely more recording biased...
I've an uber graft J 5 string ordered. It's due in September and I can't wait. Has all I like in the spec. none of what I don't like I've already got an ACG 5 string I'm thinking of selling on at the minute if anyone is looking a bargain as I'm committed to becoming a one bass man. I haven't decided fully yet but if anyone is interested it might convince me. . . . . Pic here below of bass considering for sale.
If I remember correctly from perusing Alan's website, that graft is 33" scale. How's the B on it?

The uber graft 5 in faded black on his site at the minute is rather lush...
My latest purchase, stands me at £70 so far!
Very tempted by one of those HBs... And the equivalent 70s style jazz... Must remember I'm thinning the herd...
