I don't get people's problem with the OC-2 tracking, I often successfully have it tracking down to A at gigs. With a P-bass though, so nice and solid, round input. Si
Agreed, my most recent and favourite octave pedal was the Chord OC-50 (yes the very cheap one) which is an OC-2 in different clothes. It tracked reliably to low G, and not just on a momentary note. Tested it with long sustained notes too with no wobble for a LONG time into the note's decay... Much better than any others I tried, some costing 4 or 5 times what the Chord cost me.

They're all YMMV those opinion things... Having said that, I won't even venture an opinion typically, unless I have 1st hand experience of X vs Y, preferably X experienced in close succession to Y at that. There are a few pieces of gear I sing the praises of to anyone who will listen (notably preferring an Orange Terror over a Genz Streamliner and an Ibanez ATK over a Stingray, Lakland being the most comfy 5 string neck I've played, Squier SQ and CV basses being awesome) but it's just my experience.
A good alternative would be the second-hand Puma 2x12 that's in the For Sale forum at the moment.
A big +1 to that having owned one myself for a while. Absolutely first class combo.

Lakland all the way, and I'd say that even if I wasn't selling one... Shameless plug... Most comfortable 5 string neck I've found, and for your budget any of the Skyline models should be available on the used market. I think you may have just missed the spalted maple 55-01 that was here for £425 the other day... Also, try to find a Cort Josh Paul/Elrick 5 if you can. Usually go for less than the Lakland Skylines, with similar hardware/pickups and made in the same Korean factory (although not assembled in the USA like Skylines).
Nice bass, I've always admired these but never played one. My young cub is looking for a fiver and something like this would be a possibility. Needs to sell his current four string first though. GLWTS
Feel free to drop round for a noodle on it some time. I'll get the hobnobs in!

The clear out continues! Here we have my Indonesian- made 55-02 Deluxe. Unfortunately this rather lovely bass doesn't get the attention it deserves - I'm not playing much these days (busy job and 2 kids under 2 1/2), and when I do I reach for my u-bass. Sunburst, quilted maple top, rosewood board, Lakland pickups and LH3 preamp. It's in really good condition. The only flaws worth mentioning, apart from minor swirling and a few uncapturable little scratches, are a little dent on the edge of the fretboard (see pictures), and 2 manufacturing faults - the fret slot next to the dent has had some filling from what looks like an errant saw cut while slotting the board, and while buffing, the finish around the neck bolts has worn through. As I say, tiny faults but I like to be as accurate as possible in my ads. I don't currently have a hard case for the bass but will source one for shipping purposes at the asking price of £700 uk shipping included. If you're happy to have the bass shipped sans case with the neck off then we can knock some off that. I would add that I'm prepared to take a ferry journey to hand deliver the bass to Stranraer, Carnryan or Troon for the asking price for any Scottish Basschatters that may be interested. Only items I'm looking for in trade are octave pedals, a POD x3 or an iPad Air/mini with retina display and cash my way.
What's delivery on the 2 x 10s, by the way, Bigwan?
Alex is quoting July delivery for my 2x10, but I know they're hoping to move premises about then so I'll guess that'll be pushed out to August. Suits me. I'm in no panic!
-
Just imagine it 1/3 the size and that'll be what the 2x10 will look like I expect...
The OBT would be substantially louder. If that matters.
I would think so, it's more the tonal difference I'm wondering about. As it happens I really rate the OTB. There are a few 'cork sniffers' round these parts who wouldn't even give them a chance but they're everything I look for in an amp. Admittedly the form factor isn't ideal though!

WoT, as a matter of interest have you ever tried the Orange Terror? Having tried the Orange and the Genz side by side I much preferred the Orange, but I'd be interested to hear how the WA would sit in that company. I've been talking myself out of a WA for years...
Me neither. In fact the finish of Barefaced's cabs has improved greatly. My second BFM cab was finished in TuffCab, as I believe are Barefaced. A superior cab covering compared with Tolex, vinyl or carpet in my opinion and much quicker to apply initially - if damaged it can be easily touched up with a textured roller in a matter of minutes and off you go.
Yeah the tuffcab looks great. If I were to build another cab it'd definitely be finished with that! But back to the point about guitarists - can anyone think the of a tuffcab finished guitar amp/cab? I can't...
-
Guitarists are much easier to please I guess.
I think it's they're much more likely to stick to the perceived norm. It's why you get eejits that buy 100 watt valve stacks to play in the bedroom of their terraced house. It's wonderful that they can, but should they?

I built a Dumble clone guitar amp for my brother's 30th birthday a few years back. Took me twice as long to build the cab as it did to build the amp, and longer again to get the vinyl on it. Your 'effort' looks FAR superior to mine (which I'm not going to show after seeing yours!), although I think it was my shoddy woodworking that let me down rather than my present wrapping skills! Having said that the amp sounds AMAZING so the slightly 'homebrew' look doesn't bother anybody who plays it, in the same way what may be perceived as a 'cottage industry' feel to barefaced's finishing doesn't bother me at all.
You can of course have extremely well engineered products, with the best QC/finish/aesthetics available, all in one package. The aesthetics and fit/finish should be the easy bit!
You've never built a cab, have you? The finish is the messy bit! Having tried painting cabs, cloth (rat fur) covering and vinyl/tolex, you couldn't pay me enough to finish a cab for somebody else...
