1.
Do you have to pay to place a wanted ad?
No, but that's not what I have issue with. What's so hard to understand? The way the moderators assume people use the wanted section isn't how I, or it would seem quite a few people, use it.
2.
I wasn't aware that you had to pay a fee to use the Marketplace. I thought you had to pay a fee if you wanted to be a Seller. If you're a Buyer or merely a Browser, AFAIK nothing at all has changed.
Wrong. The wanted section has changed. The explanation being the way unscrupulous forumites have been using the section is unfair to those who've paid to sell here. Keep up sir!
3.
I know. Frustrating, isn't it? Thanks for bearing with it, though. It'll be resolved at some point.
Yeah... Looks like I haven't much option!
4.
And... can you use the marketplace?
Not the way I used to... Ironically it's the free section of the marketplace I have an issue with.
5.
In fairness you are only paying to use the service to advertise goods just like you do on ebay or Gumtree or whatever and there rules have to be obeyed whether we like them or not so why should it be any different for basschat?
Rules I don't have a problem with... When they make sense!
6.
Paid up to do what, exactly?
To use the marketplace.
7.
Why is it robbed of usefulness? I don't understand that. It's easily searchable.
That's just it. My own experience tells me that the wanted section is best when you don't have to search. I know that most times I've seen a wanted ad I responded to it was because it just happened to be on the screen in front of me. If somebody wants something I'm not using, I'll respond. I'll not necessarily start a for sale thread, especially for smaller items that aren't getting in the way.
And let's be honest - none of these problems is anything other than 'slightly irritating'. It's a great forum.
That's as may be, but as I'm paid up I don't like being told "we're doing this for your good" when I don't see it that way, or necessarily agree. Not in my name you don't!
8.
How do you mean?
Just the impression threads like this (and their subject matter) leave me with. Moderation has basically robbed the 'wanted' section of all usefulness, while we wait for some sort of magic software solution to the trying to sell for free problem. My preferred solution would be thread deletion when problems arise, rather than swinging a sledge hammer at a small nut. You can't tell me that the problem was so huge that the moderators were being deluged by dodgy ads. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate everything you guys do for the site, I just think you're wrong this time.
9. This place is turning into talkbass by degrees...
10. The only thing wrong with the bongo design is the chipped headstock feature... Had 2, a 5 then a 4. Both HH. Unfortunately they didn't click for me, not sure why. I wouldn't put anyone off trying them, that's for sure. A damn shame people aren't more open minded.
11.
Lol the price tag is too low if anything! Each one is hand built to order in Essex, custom covering and lots of parts etc... Have you seen the price of the Ampeg heritage B-15.... Now that's nuts ;-)
Sorry, I should have qualified that by saying 'compared to what I could get a used LB rig for at the time'. Would love a drophead 30 for the house! Any plans for a drophead 15 with 12" speaker? That'd be AWESOME! Agreed the Ampeg B-15 price is certainly nutts, especially considering you're not even getting the original circuit design...
12. Looking forward to my bb2 being ready. Hopefully in about 4 weeks...
13. LB30 NOW SOLD. Cab still available. I'm in Northern Ireland, btw.
14. Wonderlove price dropped to £140 posted.
15. Had considered one myself before buying my lb head from obbm and your lb cab Gareth. It basically boiled down to this: Amp looks the nutts, pricetag just looks nutts...
16. Speculative PM in your inbox...
17. Up you go!
18. Bought a vt bass pedal from Pablo. Excellent as usual!
19. Had a custom 6 built a few years back. Just be absolutely certain you a) want/need a 6 string and that the specs are exactly what you want now AND, as far as you can tell, will suit you in the future. I'm a flighty git. I got exactly what I asked for, but by the time it arrived my tastes had somewhat changed (took almost a year from start to finish). My advice would be to buy off the peg if at all possible, even if you can't get exactly what you're after you'll get close enough that a few modifications will get you all the way there. Live with that for a while to make absolutely sure a custom is what you're after. Think of it as an intermediate learning step.
20. Ain't got nothing on Dirk Verbeuren...
21. Precisions. Never liked them until I had a run in with a refinished '65 while on honeymoon in NYC. Totally changed my opinion. Couldn't be without one now!
22. PM coming your way
