1.
funny eh? someone posts then someone else posts funny or what?
I must be missing something...
2. Aye they're nice, put the acquisition of 2 laklands in 2 weeks means something's got to give.
3. Strangely the LB550 DOES have a gain control (agreed the LB30 definitely doesn't)...
4. Received this in trade recently, but Jazz basses aren't floating my boat nowadays, even when they're this good! Really, really comfy neck, more meaty than most jazzes I've tried. There are 2 small dings on the neck, one on the headstock volute and one on lower edge behind 9th fret, but neither can be felt during playing. Little bit of finish missing on top edge of fingerboard around frets 1 or 2, other than that it's about as minty fresh as a roadworn bass can be! Weight is around 9 1/2 pounds using the scientific "weigh yourself with and without the bass" method. Looking £500 plus postage (decent quality generic hard case included). Trades: bass-wise, i'd definitely go for a 50s Roadworn P in sunburst, but not much else Non-bass trades: interested in a ps vita with all the gubbins, or a recent iPad (wifi 16gig preferred). Obviously cash my way. Pics here: http://s38.photobucket.com/user/Bigwan2062/library/Roadworn%20Jazz?sort=3&page=1
5. Would the 1126 be roughly equivalent/have the same tonal goals as the Barefaced Big Baby or fEARful 12/6?
6. Check out MarloweDK's YouTube video about his 4 finger picking technique. He plays a very similar octave riff to this as an example.
7. Just traded a bass with Dougie. Nice smooth transaction, great communications. All good!
8. I can only think of this happening to me once before (by the Scarbee Celinder) but today was totally out of the blue. While visiting a chap to trade a hard case for his compressor pedal, he let me play a p bass he put together himself (He'd mentioned it in our communications and that he liked working on guitars). It was without a doubt the finest p bass I've ever played, and I've had some nice basses through my hands. Being this guys personal labour of love, I know it'll never be mine and it's already driving me a bit mad! This ever happen to any of you?
9. Ah balls... If this had been here a fortnight ago... I've gone and bought a Lakland 55-64, which I don't regret, but this would have been perfect.
10. I've told this story before, but I played an ATK300 back to back with 2 EB MM 'rays in GuitarGuitar once. The ATK won hands down. Played better, sounded better and was nearly a grand cheaper.
11. Bought one of these off gumtree a few weeks ago. Similar to the OP one, but different pickups, recessed bridge, 'T' and 'bassmaster funk' on the headstock. Battered, broken nut and action like an archer would be accustomed to, but it was bought cheap as a project. Looking forward to getting new strings on it and checking it out properly!
12. Not sure Andy. I bought it from eBay way back, before the basstalk days I think. There are a few of these knocking about the uk - there were 2 in Northern Ireland at one point I believe
13. Doesn't work from mobiles for some reason. Hopefully won't matter (see title!)
14. Price dropped and further trade options added. Roll up, roll up!
15. Argh! Why must you haunt me so! Don't have a Fender P I can part with...
16. In the interests of full disclosure, I recently received a Fender Roadworn Jazz in a trade, and while it's a cracking bass, it's not as good as this. Why is this one on the block you ask? It's a proper jazz neck, and the RW is chunkier, and as I'm more of a P bass man nowadays, the RW fits my hands better. The Lakland has the edge everywhere else I think, but as with my esteemed colleague, I'm trying to cut down on basses. If I can get a 55-02 the RW will probably go also.
17. New pics up: http://s38.photobucket.com/user/Bigwan2062/slideshow/Lakland%20pics
18. I fondly remember a blue jb5 the gallery had once. It was rather lovely. Up against a Lakland JO5, US Sadowsky 5 and US Fender J5, it beat everything else hands down.
