1.
for that price, you'd have to wonder what was under the hood.
Exactly what I thought about the pedal on which this one is obviously based... Having built a mastotron clone I can tell you there's not much to these pedals. Nice variation on a theme with this one though!
2. Already have an octave, filter and fuzz. It's just the polytope tone in that video I'm trying to get - I'm thinking flanger or chorus with the depth and resonance up high and the rate low.

Kev's Feedback

Just bought Kev's Darkglass Vintage. Good comms and super fast shipping (arrived in 24 hours). Perfect BC transaction!
4. I'm not well versed on modulation effects, having not owned any in about 20 years, but I'm looking to achieve what the polytope does in this video (that kind of resonant fizz on top) without laying down that sort of cash! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b8qq3eCq8vw Any budget (preferably small too) suggestions? Will be running it after fuzz/filter/octave as in the video and probably never on it's own.
5. Too late, too late was the cry...
6. It can be cheaper to diy, but only if you don't count your own time. That's where you'd be crucified by a custom builder.
7. You'd be cheaper buying a used microsynth. Trust me on this...
8.
Got my pedaltrain nano, just a simple setup
More info required - I'm guessing the 2 effects are fuzzrocious (grey stache & ?)?
9. If you check out Gary Willis' videos on youtube he goes through making a ramp from scratch for a marcus miller jazz bass. Doesn't look difficult, although I think it's a case of 'measure twice, cut once'! He does it out of scrap wood and covers it in sticky back plastic, but the theory is the same for a solid wood one.
10. With all the IE on your current board Kev it was inevitable really!
11. Interested to hear how this sounds. If the tracking is good, and from following Taylor's work it'll probably be VERY good, it'll sell big.
12.
Aguilar got back to me. They're going to look into it and get in touch on Tuesday due to the long weekend. Unfortunately I can't mount the Thumpinator underneath as there's not enough clearance from the floor but it could be fixed if I put some big feet on it.
Would it fit above the BB, mounted on the "wall" of the mini?
13.
That's what she said (sorry Ian, couldn't resist)
That's vanilla compared to my work colleague's frequent comments! They're playing 'finish the sentence' which starts "Ian'll...". Oh the fun...
14. A perfect compressor for people who think they don't like compressors (like me)! Spencer makes great stuff.
15. Could you mount the thumpinator under the board?
16.
I'd do that with the Boss, but be careful with the MXRs as they almost always use board-mounted jacks, and unless the pedals are bolted down you can put strain on the PCB when pressing the switch.
Good point. And breaking mxr pedals is a bad idea since they won't send schematics out to repairers, even for pedals that aren't produced any more. Customer service at it's best...
17. I know the problem! If you change your mind on the mini/Jr swap I was thinking of moving to a mini from my Jr.
18.
Sooooo - I've changed my mind about the bigger board (again!), and gone back to the PT Mini! Really happy with the pedals, just can't fit all 6 onto a mini, and a PT JR just seems too big (especially as I walk to practise)... so the OC-2 can live on the floor
Pedal arranging must be really annoying - from that pic you'd think 1 more would fit on there! Top mount jacks for the win!!! Surely 2 of those straight through jack connectors would allow you to put the 2 mxrs closer and tuck the oc2 right up next to the tuner?
19.
Probably the power supply as it might not have been designed for low noise applications, although you don't need to spend loads to get a quiet one. I have a Johnnyshredfreak power supply that served me well for years, very similar to the Diago one. They don't sell that model anymore but do this for less than a tenner: http://www.pedalstuff.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=8&products_id=336&zenid=ec7e9be36c6fd4164691ac6a3bd2ebeb No idea if it's any good though! You could also give http://www.effectpowersupplies.com/power-supplies-8-c.asp a go.
Don't buy the first one! That's 9v AC!!!

Which autowah?

That's Spencer, Mr 3leaf. Can play like that AND builds awesome pedals!!! Not jealous, honestly... My only issue with the proton was the fast decay time on the v1 model. The next model had an internal switch to move between a fast and slow decay time and the current model has a dedicated decay control. Only thing I'd add is a blend control, but then you're into a GR2...

Which autowah?

One of the 3leaf filters might be up your street. The Proton is Spencer's take on the Mutron. The Wonderlove is based on the Lovetone Meatball. Previous versions are the Groove Regulator or and GR2. General consensus seems to be that although the Wonderlove is much more tweakable, and has the same sounds in it as its predecessor, the GR2 requires a little less digging to get the sounds you hear in your head. I have had a proton in the past (the first version) and currently have a Groove Regulator. If starting to look again I'd be checking out the current version of the proton (usefull upgrafes on the original version) or the GR2. The wonderlove has more features than I'd need. I've tried a few of the end filters and although the big box qtron sounded amazing it was HUGE and needed 24v. The mini qtron is nice but still big and there's a big volume jump when it's engaged, same with the micro qtron. These can be modded to fix the volume jump issue though. Maybe the best advice is try all the ones you like the sound of and don't take other people's word for it - filters are a very individual thing.
22. I've longed after this bass since playing it in the gallery a number of years ago - same day Flanker tried it (and ultimately bought it). Maybe next time...
23. Why do you people torture me so?! Have a "best 4 string I've ever played" type bump
