1. No argument there!
2.
It'll come down to which they think will sell better in the end I expect
Well that's my point - i know there are plenty of folk here who wouldn't even try an ashdown pedal because they couldn't make room for it on their pedalboard...
3.
I can confirm that Behringer vs Hammer the hammer wins I was just hugely impressed by the build quality of them I also like the VU... It's a shiny thing
Lol!
4.
Agree with you on the VU meter, but they could make one about the size of a penny to put on smaller pedals if they so insist.
Ashdown already have a small(er) vu that they use on the class d amp they do, but even then i think it's probably surplus to requirements. Ashdown's comment on Facebook was that the VU was their trademark, which is a valid point if you're a marketing bod, but to me it's useless in practical terms, and waste of physical space on my pedalboard. Just seems like style is winning over substance...
5.
They are built like tanks on the otherhand. In a fight against a hammer I would honestly bet on the pedal
But how is that different from other pedals out there? And does it gave a bearing on the size of the pedal?
6. Yeah a nice compressor will do your job - sound like you, only the full fat, 4 star version! I bought my 3 leaf pwnzor specifically for this reason.
7. I had a similar rig until recently (still have my Tech 4x12). Bet this sounds MIGHTY!
8. I've been commenting on an Ashdown Facebook teaser photo for a mystery new product and was just wondering what everybody else here thought about their pedals - NOT about the quality of the effects per se, more about the form factor of their pedals. I find the inclusion of the VU meter a total waste, and the physical size of the pedals a bit at odds with what other manufacturers try to achieve (perhaps with the exception of EHX). Is Ashdown's insistance on sticking with their trademark VU meter (don't think it can even be considered a USP any more) doing their sales more harm than good? Personally I own 1 ashdown pedal (Lomenzo hyperdrive) and it's a royal pain that it takes up so much space when it doesn't need to (in fact it annoys me so much that I'm planning on rehousing the circuit in a NORMAL sized enclosure). Pedalboard space is at a premium for most people so I find it weird that one of the worlds leading bass related manufacturers seems a bit out of touch...
9. I'd played a few Sei basses (6 I think, all second hand) and a few Shukers when I was looking at a custom build and went with Shuker. Of the Seis I'd played there was only 1 I would have considered spending the second hand price for, let alone the new price and 12 month+ wait. Jon may be harder to deal with than Martin in some folks eyes (thinking of the optimistic build time quotes specifically), and there's no doubt that Martin produces some beautiful basses, they just didn't speak to me the same way. Top bloke Martin though, and I REALLY wanted to like his stuff (the flamboyant especially was my porn bass of choice as a younger lad). Having said all that I'd be tempted by an ACG nowadays. Alan makes some very nice looking basses (although I've yet to lay hands on one).
10. I think this is possibly the worst thread I've ever seen on Basschat...
11. Bargain! BARGAIN I say! Awesome basses...
12. Bargains! Alas I'm brassic... That black one looks mighty fine!
13. Agree with Dave on this one... I better since i owned his 55-01 after him! Great basses at any money - bury everything under a grand (and a lot more - having owned 2 MM 5's i'd put the lakland above them both). Had to go to a Dingwall to get better... £400 should get you one.

15. They're MUCH louder than you'd think!
16. Still here type bumpage!
17.
Made me bring some sick up into my mouth! Sorry.
+1
18. Can't believe this is still here...
19.
is it possible to just use individual bridge saddles (not one-piece bridge) instead of relocating the neck to achive the same result?
If you have the space behind the current bridge then that would work, but things are getting ugly at that point!
I have just thrown together a Bazz Fuss too, this time incorporating a buff and blend as well. I love this circuit and return to it a lot. My favourite build so far is a Bazz Fuss with a modified Big Muff Tone stack but unfortunately I don’t have it anymore. With the tone knob towards the bass side it would cut through absolutely anything. It is such a simple circuit but really works. I use a slightly different version to you based on the home wrecker article which is worth trying if you can socket the components: 1N914 diode, MPSA13 Darlington transistor in place of the 2N3904 (sounds a bit smoother) 100k resistor should be replaced with 10k with this transistor. 1k Pot in between ground and the emitter of the transistor (Lug one to ground, Lug 2 to Lug 1, Lug 3 to the emitter of the transistor). This acts as a nice little drive control and helps to clean the sound up a bit. I aim to build a deluxe Bazz one day with volume, drive, clean blend, tone stack and a rotary switch for clipping diodes too.
A buff'n blend would be a nice addition to the Bazz Fuss, and I probably have all the bits for one knocking around - something for the next pizza break! Might have a fiddle with different transistors on the Fuss as, as you say, the 2N3904 isn't very smooth, I'll have to see what I have knocking around.

Isn't building these things fun - even when you've very little free time! While waiting for my pizza to cook last night I managed to throw together a Bazz Fuss on vero with components I had lying about. Dead simple circuit (easy enough that I can recount the component list from memory - 100k pot, 100k resistor, 4.7uF Electrolytic, 100nF cap, 1N4148 diode, 2N3904 Transistor, 6x4 piece of vero). 12 minutes start to finish... Maybe nearer 13 since I like my pizza well done! Not just as awesome sounding as the Mastotron clone from a few weeks ago (which is still waiting for me to put it in an enclosure), and nowhere near as synthy sounding using the components I have, but sufficiently fun considering the component count. Now I have my step drills back from a friend I can set to enclosing these 2. Pics soon...
22. I've said it before and I'll say it again - I've owned 4 ernie balls and think the ATK range compare more than favourably with them. When you count the price difference then the ATK wins hands down...
23. There's a blend circuit online that does exactly what you're after: http://moosapotamus.net/paralooper.html
This is a little gem - Madbean's take on the BBE Sonic Stomp pedal, the 'Bloviator' - a harmonic exciter, adds depth, warmth, presence to everything, for guitar and bass (though only tried on guitar so far) Not much db boost just enhances the highs and lows without scooping the mids. Its a powerful effect but also quite subtle, and when you turn it off everything sounds sad, flat and thin. Great for really enhancing modulation fx too. Can I also say the Madbean PCB's are superb and make soldering onto a small crowded space a real pleasure. Worked first time no nonsense. Will get some sound clips posted up with bass after the weekend.
Good stuff! I've 3 madbean pcbs incoming although only one (the lowrider octave) is for me, unless I fancy some plexi'd delay type action on da bass...
25. That's pretty cool!!!
