1. WANT THAT ONE!!! Alas my Dingwall has left me brassic...
2. Keep an eye out for a Johnny Shread Freak power supply. It's a copy of a Diago. I bought one from Shep/pantherairsoft recently for VERY little money and it's a great wee PSU.
3. PM'd Dan! Sorry Andy I'm all bassed out at the minute!
4. Sorry mate, I'm pretty set for pedals and stuff.
5. Can't believe I'm doing this but the simple truth of the matter is I have too much gear and not using much of it. I have my trusty ABM combo for when I need more than my Ashdown Little B**tard rig so alas the Terror Bass is on the chopping block. Brilliant little amp. Stupidly, STUPIDLY loud. Great condition with gig bag and original box (although the box is in 'knocked about in the garage for a while' condition!). Pics later. £350 shipped in the UK.
6. Just a big up for the Qtron+. I had a big box Qtron until recently and it convinced me that I needed a filter pedal (or 4 - I'm getting quite a wee collection going!) in my life. Restricted pedal board space was the only reason I got shot of the Qtron. It sounded AMAZING. Really fat and greasy. My proton gets close but is a little bit more polite and a good bit more pricey (and a good bit smaller too!).
7. Original post amended to include trades for Qtron mini or micro. May entertain other effects, but don't hold your breath!
8. Could I interest you in a boss ft2 by any chance?
9. Really enjoying my 3 Leaf Proton at the minute. Made a little mod to lengthen the decay time a bit and now it's getting pretty close to being perfect! A few more things to try on my filter quest - have a Tonefactor 442 incoming from Shep and the components for a meatball clone on the way so more experimenting to do. Will probably keep 2 filters on my board so don't have to whittle it down to one!
10. The 3 leaf is SO close to being great, but the decay of the filter is a little fast for me. It's staying in the meantime. I've just ordered the parts for a meatball clone so we'll see what happens there. I would be willing to have 2 filters on my board so the best 2 at the end of all this will stay.
11. Hi guys, I'm on the seemingly never ending filter quest! As a result I have for sale a Boss Dynamic Filter (FT2). Bought only a few weeks ago from ebay after reading what people on here thought. Alas I've also bought a 3 Leaf Audio Proton and Shep's Tonefactor 442 so something has to go. I'd describe this as more predictable than most filters. It's very musical, but it's greasy and whacky that I'm looking for and this doesn't quite do it. Seems to like higher output basses this one, which can't be said for all the filters I've tried! It's in reasonable nick with the wear you might expect from a pedal of this vintage (see pics for the worst of it). These are getting hard to find so I lept on this as soon as I saw it on the 'bay. I paid £50 + 8.99 postage (yeah I know - poked!). I'll take £50 posted for this. Would trade for an EHX Mini or Micro Qtron to modify to further my filter quest! Cheers Ian
12. I'll take the 442 filter mate. PM on its way!
13. I wrestled with this in a pub band and it really wore me down, to the point that I quit. The annoying thing was that any time I tried to improve the situation I was labelled as being petty, but I had to take on board any of the other members criticisms or there'd be a row... More concerning is that the longer the situation went on the less bothered I was about improving - that was the sign it was time to go.
14. For the sake of a few pennies and an extra few minutes with the soldering iron I'll maybe give it a blast. Just looking at my reduced perfboard layout there's enough room to fit it all on the same board - just!
15. I'll maybe try the NSL32 first as farnell have them. You might be interested in reading this with regards to the blend issue you mentioned: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=54508.140 You could mod your pedal very simply to gain a more useful blend control - in my case since I'll be replacing the rotaty mode switch with a spdt for band pass/high pass, I can add a tiny little daughter board with a single opamp and half a dozen resistors on it and use a dpdt switch instead, using the other pole to flip an opamp with unity gain from inverting to non-inverting and just stick that circuit in line with one side of the blend pot. In theory...
16. What vactrols did you use in your build? I'm leaning towards the NSL32 R3 instead of the VTL5C3.
17. That's useful info - I'd assumed the bandwidth switch was going to be useless for my purposes and wasn't going to include it at all! Even more resin to do a fully featured build before I trim the fat!
18. Cheers Technicality! Nice YT clip. That'll explain why Spencer at 3 Leaf chose to leave off the blend on the original Groove Regulator then - couldn't understand that decision. Good to know. I'm assuming you use your blend set fully 'wet' then? I'll be building the full circuit to start with so I can play with it and see what works for me and what I 'set-and-forget'. I can't see me using the 'down' sweep going on my previous experiences, and 4 options for Range is more than I'll use so I'll choose 2 and put them on a toggle switch. If the blend had been any good I'd have kept the Bandpass option, but by the sound of things it'll be permanently hardwired to low pass! I've just measured up a drilling template and if I have to use all 6 knobs and 3 switches it should all fit ok if I use 9mm alpha pots and the smallest knobs I can find - it'll be SERIOUSLY tight though. The battery I decided to discard very early on!
19. The 1590B is back on after a bit more thought and some drawing (and some inspirational 1590A builds over pn diystompboxes.com - wow!) but which switches to keep? Thinking of keeping range hi/lo, sweep up/down and band pass/low pass if I can get them all on there somewhere! Unfortunately the fx loop will go too...
20. Can't comment on the Evo III, but I've been changing back and forth between a first series ABM and an OTB for a while. The OTB sounds very similar set flat to how I have the ABM set up so that's a win for me. If you need more flexibility from the OTB I'd add graphic eq and octave pedals. I do still love my ABM, but the Orange is punchier and much MUCH louder (although whether you'll use the extra or not only you can say). I had contemplated selling my OTB to get something even smaller... but I don't think I can bring myself to do it!
21. I quite like the look of the TC 250 watt 1x12 combo myself, although between my SWR Workingmans 12 and my ABM 1x10 combos I'm pretty set!
Hi all, I figured this would be the best place to ask this... I spent most of yesterday building a GGG tuned muff and...welll....it doesn't work. I've built 3 pedals before and all have worked first time. LED comes on, but not getting any sound both with the effect on and bypassed. I'm going to have a look at it tonight and see if there's anything obvious, but anyone got any ideas what might cause that to happen? Cheers
From what you describe, since you aren't even getting the bypassed signal out, it sounds like you've either wired your switch or input/output jacks wrong. Other posibility is something accidentally shorted to ground.
