1. Couldn't disagree more having replaced both Warwick and Musicman sockets with switchcraft and both subsequently failing... Friday afternooners maybe... Also IMHO and YMMV... No reflection on Warwicks either...
Got to disagree! The design may be the same but the quality of construction sets the likes of the Switchcraft and the Neutrik way above the Warwick spec one. I've 'probably' owned more Warwicks than anyone else on BC... or anywhere else for that matter and as such I must have replaced dozens of sockets and I can honestly say that the quality components mentioned will last many times longer than the original spec sockets. In fact I once bought a couple of replacement Warwick sourced sockets and they failed within a year or two whereas Switchcraft replacements are still going strong after 15 years. Just my honest and unbiased take on these sockets!
2. It's not Warwick, it's the Switchcraft designed socket. I've had nothing but trouble with them - not just on Warwicks... My bongo's the same, as is my Ibanez ATK. When it's my turn to rule I'll outlaw the b*stard things!!!
3. 4x10. Best not to mix different drivers.
4. Welcome! Trace elliot do still make amps (http://www.trace-elliot.co.uk/index.php#home), but they aren't the same company any more. They're now owned by Peavey. As for value you're probably in the £350-400 ballpark. Only downside is these amps are extremely heavy and the current trend is towards lightweight gear. Supposed to sound the mutts nutts though, so you shouldn't have any bother shifting it.
5. I think Owen has the answer to all your problems (under budget too!): http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=135623 If I hadn't just fallen in love with an Orange Terror Bass I'd be sorely tempted myself since I want to downsize a little!
6.
put a low pass on the 3015lf to for best results. Obviously you shouldn't be mixing drivers though
To the uninitaited that isn't obvious... especially with 90% of bass amp manufacturers ads showing mixed driver cab setups. No wonder folk make mistakes.

sold

Would you be interested in anything in the 'outgoing' list in my signature?
8. Bigwan

Gone.

PM'd you
9. It makes absolutely no sense that I've noticed the top strap button's in the wrong place... does this make me odd... Interested in trades of any kind L? Edit: I mean trades for something other than an SR500 - anything in the 'outgoing' list in my sig?
10. Ooh... hubba hubba! *stupid question* Any interest in a Bongo 4HH?
11. Try getting yourself a forearm clasp from a phsio. Great job and helped me a lot when I had my tennis elbow problems (and you get to look like yer man Greenwood from Radiohead to boot!). I'm afraid to say you'll be lucky if it clears up in a few weeks...
12.
Then I played the 50's CV yesterday for the first time
Was that the one in Matchetts? Saw one in there the other day but didn't have time to play anything... I'm GAS free at the minute after the arrival of my Terror Bass the other day. Actually planning a bit of gear consolidation - going to clear out some basses and rig stuff (see sig) to replace it with something smaller and more modular (by adding a second GS112). Don't class that as GAS myself... OK so I'd like a PJ/PP/PM of some description, but if one doesn't come along I'll be fine without.
13. Just bought an Orange Terror Bass from Steve. An entirely positive experience and a damn fine bit of kit. Wouldn't hesitate to deal with Steve again.
14. Peavey IPR1600 perhaps? Doesn't bridge (well it does, but in some oddball way) but will do 500+ watts per side @ 4 ohms. REALLY lightweight (3.2kg/7lbs). I've been considering one myself... If it was 1U I'd have one already!
15.
Line 6 Studio 110 gets my pick
+1
16. Would you consider a 4 string bongo?
17. First gig rig - Sunn Mustang P-bass, Vantage 30w Amp Current gig rig - Fender USA P-bass/Lakland 55-01 NTMB, Korg PitchBlack Tuner, Ashdown ABM400RC (soon to be replaced with Orange Terror Bass), Tech Soundsystems 4x12
18. I'm split on this. I'd love to sell only on basschat, but I did have an experience on here once where I sold a rather expensive bass here at a reduced rate to 'benefit the board'... for the buyer to turn round the next week and sell it on ebay for a £700 profit... Admittedly it doesn't happen very often.
19. Er.. no it won't I'm afraid. Not if you've bought a J-retro as the pots are mounted on the pcb in line. it's the U-retro you'd need, where the pots are on ribbon cables... Sorry to bring the whole thread down...
20.
I can however vouch for the quality and sound of these preamps as I used to own one a while back. They are very good indeed!
I have to say that the best 'clean' bass tone I've ever achieved was my precision into this pre set flat (well everything at 12 oclock) into the effects return of a Markbass F500 into my Aguilar 1x12. Fat, buttery goodness. If warm and clean were my current needs there'd be no way this'd be going anywhere... as it is I need a bit more rock grind at the mo.
21. IF I decide to sell I'll PM you first before updating the thread. I should point out I'm heading off on holiday early next week and probably won't make a decision until I come back (week beginning 2nd May).
22. Hi guys, I have decided to offer my Trace V-Type preamp up for trade. You probably all know how good these things are. I stumbled on this one by chance (lets face it - blink and you'd miss them round here) on here and I'm so glad I did. Alas it isn't seeing the amount of use it should. Condition is well used, with some rack rash, but not abused. Sounds fantastic. I may change my mind... Some of you may have seen my wanted post: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...p;#entry1205653 I need something in the amp department, about 500 watts, but small, light and valve sounding, so an Orange Terror Bass or a TC RH450 would be perfect (but will consider the classic too). Not interested in a sale at the minute. Hit me with what you've got. Obviously money your way. Cheers Ian
23. Yeah Chris, not trying to get it exact, just as close as I can and as light/small as possible. Agreed a trolley would be good in some instances but taking my typical work journey as an example - My journey to work involves 2 train journeys, both of which can be extremely busy, one leg of which is 50+ minutes. Can't store a trolley in the aisle and there are no luggage racks other than above head height (which is fine for my bass and a bag, but not great for the amp which weighs 35 lbs in the case - it's a wonder they're allowed in this day and age with the health and safety regulations the way they are. Anything above shoulder height is a no-no in the lab at work!) - cheers Northern Ireland Railways! I could stand at the exit door area with my gear, but I'd rather not stand for that length of time if I can get away with it (my back isn't great at the minute!). There's also the fun of one of those up and over walkways between platforms from one train to the next - lovely!
24. Might just take you up on that Danny!
