If you know wiring and are confident enough you could open the amp up and have a nosey at the output transformer - it may say what tap the speaker is wired to.
I use a 4 x 12 Techamp Cab 1200 watts into 4 ohm. I use it with a Markbass LMK. It is light too just 54 Lbs you can pick it up easy one man, but i do use a trolley board which i leave it on to play so not to loose the bass on hotel carpets etc. I think most people do not consider it now. The old marshals are 100 lbs, then 4 x10's took over in the 80's and only a few manufacturers have gone back. But with Neo speakers they are starting to re appear. Most people are using smaller combinations now. I went for the 12's as it was the best spec of any cab with the least weight. It sounds fantastic I use it on all but the smallest restuarant gigs so I know I can cope with any venue.
I have the older (Tech Soundsystems) version of this cab. They sound awesome, if a little overkill!

I have an unused B&O ICEpower 125asx module doing nothing if anyone's interested (originally inspired by Alien's mini power amp build) - bought it to install in my trace v-type preamp, but I just don't have the time or inclination at the minute. It's the same power amp used in the GK-MB500 and some of the EA stuff too (500 watts @ 4 ohms, 300 watts @ 8ohms from memory). VERY hard to get hold of - not usually sold to the public, not in the UK anyway.

The 4 ohm rating of the driver doesn't mean anything since there's a crossover involved. The crossover design determines the ohmage rating of the cab. Use caution when selecting a replacement - an 8 ohm driver used with a crossover designed for a 4 ohm driver will give unpredictable results, impedance wise.

Request *cough cough* engineering samples...

The 8 ohm rating was a typo. It's 900 @ 4, 500 @ 8.

Any Ibanez SR 6 I've played has been a lot lighter than any other 6 I've layed hands on. One was certainly under 10lbs. I've never weighed my Shuker 6 but it's a lot heavier than 10lbs due to my wood choices - it's mostly wenge (body and neck). Even with a thinned body it's not light, but Jon could make you a light 6 a good bit cheaper than the Roscoe Century 6 if you aren't in a hurry. You could certainly beat 9lbs on a custom 6 if you're willing to compromise in places.
-
Probably Ibanez SR (soundgear series) I should think... EDIT: Actually the new Roscoe Century sixes are probably lighter...

That Freddie Washington clip is SO cool!
Interesting that Ampeg have recently announced a 'Heritage' reissue of the B15 as well: Haven't seen a price yet but I'm guessing it's a lot more than an Ashdown!
I've seen 2.5k mentioned somewhere, not sure if that's $ or £ - either way it's too much...

Lakland 55-01 or 55-02. I'll not be parted from my 55-01 in too big a hurry, even if I don't play a 5 very often.

Cool! Keep us posted GW! Interested to hear how this sounds. I'm wondering if I'd be better off with the LB head and my own cabs, but this looks WAY cooler...

EBS do this

Being a jazz and Bongo owner I have to say if I was in your position I'd have a hard time choosing between the two! I think the Bongo would edge it for me - it is SO tonally flexible. But the HH I have is pretty tight for slapping with the humbucket so close to the neck. An HS might be the better option.

WANT! WANT! WANT! Might have to do a bit of a clearout....
That's very a very astute deduction! That's pretty much correct apart from a special transformer by the sounds of it.
Just because the transformer was custom designed for that amp design doesn't mean the JJ500 isn't the same amp as the MK500. I would SERIOUSLY doubt that there's any difference between the 2 other than cosmetic (especially since MK seems to have jumped ship to TC). Ashdown have history here. For example WAY back when the ABM was still young, and available as either a 200 or 400 watt version, the lines were 'upgraded' to 300 and 500 watts... except they weren't... I believe the same can be said of the 'upgrade' from the ABM to the first ABM EVO series. They're all the same design with different names... While we're on the subject - can anyone tell me what difference there is between the ABM series and the Klynstron series (which was what the ABM was originally called - the Klynstron Bass Magnifier), other than cosmetic? Having said that I adore my first run ABM amps.

In my experience lead free solder produces a duller solder joint than leaded solder. I hate the stuff myself, as do most high volume electronics manufacturers. Just doesn't do the job as well as the real thing.

I've currently a rev C GCB-100 crybaby bass wah on my workbench (belongs to Gareth Hughes of this parish). As standard it's a hopeless, tone-sucking piece of excrement. That's being polite about it. After carrying out ALL of the mods mentioned on the wah-wah site above, namely 33k Q mod (added pot for variable Q), 470 ohm gain & bass mod, 1k5 mid mod, 68k input mod, it really is rather good compared to the original product (didn't need to change the cap value as that's the only difference between a guitar crybaby and a bass crybaby). Still drops some bass end when engaged though but I plan to get round that by adding a variable blend (like an effects loop built into the pedal with the wah circuit in the loop). That should help it quite a bit I would think. Also plan on adding true bypass with status LED. BTW did you know that the only difference between the current standard cry baby and a zakk wylde signature cry baby is 1 component value and a lick of paint... or £40 if you're daft enough to buy one new...

Another should I leave my band thread?

If you have to ask then it's time to quit. Keep tight with the drummer though - they're not ten a penny like guitarists... -
Oh, and apparently they also may (note 'may') have a mini amp/micro amp coming out. I really like Aguilar, so Im hoping its fantastic!
Meh... if it sounds like the AG500SC they can keep it. That amp was a bigtime disappointment for me (although I didn't play it with Aggie cabs - apparently they work best with their own cabs). I went back to my *cough* ashdown *cough* (always feel a bit embarassed by that admission round here) - also gave up on my Thunderfunk and went back to my ashdown. Have to say Aguilar are a bit late to that party... but unlike ashdown, you can probably be assured they'll get it right...

Nice looking cabs. Light too, but still an odd size (very small car un-friendly - although I suppose that depends on the car)... Not going to complain too much though. If they perform like the GS or DB series 1x12 they'll fly out the door.

I've always been curious about these. Maybe on my next away trip I'll get a chance to have a go on one...
